Day 3 In Hong Kong

Today, we brought our parents to visit Lantau Island as we missed the chance on our visit last year. I remembered we took the cable car up last year but when we arrived at Lantau Island, we were shocked to see a ‘dragon’ so, we decided not to visit the Buddha but started to queue for the return cable car!! How silly isn’t it!

This time, we took a bus ride instead of queuing for the cable car again. The coach ride wasn’t that bad at all and it took 40 minutes to reach the top. The ride wasn’t bumpy as the experienced bus driver drove with care.

When we arrived, it was rather foggy and we could hardly see the icon. We walked around the area as we did not want to climb the stairs. We bought vegetarian lunch vouchers as that was part of our purpose of bringing the elderly to Lantau Island.

The vegetarian restaurant wasn’t crowded even on a Sunday. We were seated shortly and our dishes came quite swiftly. It comes in a set so, they served all dishes at one go. The vegetarian dishes looked great and yes, it tasted good too though they were simple.

After lunch, we took a short bus ride to Tai O which is about 10 minutes from the Buddha icon. When we arrived at Tai O, it was SUPER CROWDED! I remembered when hub & I visited couple of years ago, it wasn’t that crowded. We were still able to move around freely and trying out many of their street food like the BBQ squid, freshly baked egg tarts sold on bicycle, chilled bean curd and the ‘Gai Dan Zai’.
This time, it was filled with tourists and we need to move slowly and at some point, stuck! However, we managed to try the Gai Dan Zai and Faith loved it so much that she ate half the packet. We also tried the BBQ squid which is definitely not to be missed… SUPER YUMMY!! Parents wanted to buy some salted fish back but we stopped them as they were too big to bring it back to SIN.
After the tour in Tai O, we returned to Tung Chung for a short shopping spree. By the time we reached Tung Chung, Faith was sleep and YES, it was our precious time to shop freely… as it was way too crowded on a Sunday afternoon, we returned to hotel for a short rest.

As for dinner, we travelled to Wai Chai as parents wanted to get some more preserved sausages from a particular store. We went to Tao Heung for steamboat as the weather was cold and it’s great to steam… hahahaah…. Though we were very hungry and tired, surprisingly we did not order much food… Anyway, we enjoyed our steamboat thoroughly and guess we will be back for more…
It was a very tiring day of outing and everyone was drained! We went back to hotel and everyone had an early night.
