Curry Fish Head Luncheon

We have often talked about the Curry Fish Head at Suntec City Food Court but no chance to try. Finally, my darling Angie organized and gave us a treat for lunch today. She told me that the fish head curry has to pre-order in advance and it’s always crowded at the food court, Leng & Jessie went early to try to get a seat.

When I arrived since Lao Gao is in the town, I was really lucky to get a seat when I arrived while I saw Leng & Jessie still waiting. Shortly, our foods were served.

The fish head curry was huge when it arrived and we found out that there were four generously big pieces of fish meat. Darling Angie decided to order fish meat as it’s easier to eat. I was more excited to see the amount of lady fingers and eggplants topped the fish meat. That was a pretty sight indeed.
Darling also ordered other dishes like sweet & sour pork and a vegetable to compliment the curry fish. My verdict for the curry fish was – B+. The taste was not too bad but it wasn’t spicy enough to get an A from me. If they have added more spice to the gravy, I think it will be better.

Anyway, it was worth the try indeed as Suntec Food Court will be closing down soon… and heard that it will be taken over by Food Republic after their major renovation.

Thank you Darling for the delicious treat and it was really great to lunch with you again after a long time… really missed your presence!

Dinner Treat@Moi Lum

Sister-in-law Sheryl gave the family a treat to this well-known Cantonese Restaurant located near Maxwell Road. I have heard of it but never had a chance to visit.

I was really surprised to see the restaurant filled with people and heard from Sheryl that if you have no reservation, it’s quite unlikely to get a seat for walk-in patrons. She ordered a set menu for tonight and mum was really excited as she told me that this is one of the restaurants that our family used to dine before I was born.

The starter dishes were pretty impressive with shark’s fin egg, braised duck, salad prawns & spring rolls. Faith simply enjoyed every bit of the shark’s fin egg… she kept asking for more till I was a bit shy to take more from the main plate.
Shark’s fin soup was tasty… the soup was thick and not salty. Crispy roast chicken was my favorite as the skin was crispy but the meat was juicy… even the breast meat!! Faith enjoyed it very much too though she is not really the ‘chicken’ person. The steam red grouper was tasty though I am not a big fan of it but really… this dish is a must have for dinner. Spinach with abalone was also regarded as my love… simply delicious!

To my surprise, the pan fried prawn was all snapped up (usually, this will be the only dish that is not too loved by my family). The prawn was nicely pan fried and best of all; the shell did not stick to the prawn meat… fantastic isn’t it! It was such a breeze biting it off. Before the noodle, we had the last dish which was the kiddos’ favorite. The fried wantons and ngoh hiang. Faith enjoyed the fried wantons though she was only allowed to have one piece. The E-Fu noodle was a champion man... it wasn't dry but very tasty. YUMS!

Sheryl chose the family favorite dessert – mango pomelo with sago. It was so good that I almost wanted to ta pao another bowl for myself…

Overall, this is one fantastic dinner with family members. Thank you, Sheryl for the delicious and enjoyable dinner. I am sure we will visit this restaurant again soon…

Faith’s First School Outing

I was so excited when I received the excursion approval form from Faith’s teacher last month and we signed up for the outing immediately. We are going to visit the Singapore Zoo organized by her school.

We went to her school early this morning for registration and briefing by the teachers. After the short briefing, we set off on our own since we decided not to follow the school bus which was provided by the school.

When we arrived at the Zoo, teacher Diana gave out the entry tickets to all parents and from there, we are on our own! It’s the second visit for Faith and this time, she will be enjoying more as she knows some of the animals compared to her first visit when she was only couple of months old…

Brought her to see the monkeys, tigers and though it was from a distance, she was showing signs that she is afraid. She kept telling me ‘mama, Tabi scared!’ I told her that these are the animals she saw on Hi-5 and now she is seeing them LIVE. Told her not to afraid and she seemed to calm down a bit after that.

The weather was scorching hot and we hopped onto the tram that took us around faster. We went to the KidsWorld and Faith became excited when she saw the water rides, slides and small water play area. Though she was thrilled about the water play, she still needed me to be around her as there were tons of kids splashing water around…

After lunch, we thought of watching the animal show but our little one fell into her deep sleep. We did not wake her and left the zoo to check ourselves in to Conrad.

When we arrived, I was quite disappointed that our room was not ready but the Duty Manager was really nice and managed to get the house-keeping to clean up the room quickly for us. She allowed us to put our stuff in the room and we brought Faith down for a swim since the house-keepers are still busy clearing up the last bit.

Faith enjoyed her swim very much and wanted to try to swim on her own. We were happy that she is kicking well and guess it’s about time to sign her up for some swimming lessons soon. *smiles*

The whole day event got our little really tired that she turned in earlier. Finally, the two of us got to spend some quiet time together watching movies on HBO…

Dinner With The Girls

Theresa kindly arranged a dinner gathering after a long time and we decided to try out the new Italian restaurant opened recently at Jalan Riang.

This is one newly opened restaurant by the same owner of Pietrasanta located at Portsdown Road. The restaurant is not very big but it was really cozy and given a very warm feeling when you enter.

Theresa been there and we left her to do the ordering while we chatted away the blues of the day. She ordered Garlic Bread and parma ham for starters while waiting for Tricia to turn up. Man.. I really liked the garlic bread that she ordered… I wasn’t expecting the garlic bread to in a form of pizza type and the bread was crispy with some sprinkle of garlic on top… THUMPS UP!

After the arrival of Tricia, we discussed and decided to order more food… hahaahahah…. We ordered Diavola Pizza, spinach ravioli, baked eggplant with cheese; seafood squid ink linguine, a quarter of chicken thigh as our mains.

I am actually very surprised that we were able to clean up all the dishes and planed for desserts. We ordered tiramisu and a slice of pear cake to share and man… it was super DELICIOUS! The pear cake is a MUST TRY!

This is one Italian restaurant I will be visiting often as it’s located near where I stay and food is fantastic! Now I have another cool joint to add into my list. Thanks Theresa for the recommendation and friends for the companionship!

Happy Father’s Day

After mass today, we went to have a small Father’s Day luncheon celebration at The Ship located at Serangoon Nex. I simply love hanging out at Nex as there are lots of eateries to choose from and even the whole place is crowded, you are still able to get a seat at one of the restaurant within 10 minutes.

Hubby read about the restaurant The Ship but has never been there so, we decided to give it a shot though I have dined at the one located at International Plaza many years back. We ordered the set lunch to save time.

We enjoyed the lunch very much including Faith who shared my pasta. She was though not really able to sit for long but at least she allowed us to finish our food… QUICKLY!

That evening, we brought the family to Seoul Garden for Father’s Day celebration and everyone had a great time BBQ-ing.

At the same time, I too took some a moment to remember my dad whom I believed is in heaven. I miss you Papa…
