Maris Stella Kindergarten Food & Fun Fair 2007

My friend Elizabeth to help her at her store, which she set up at Maris Stella today, recalled me. We have body painting, express manicure, temporary tattoos and selling cookies, almond jelly and chupa chups.

Express manicure

The crowd started to rush in around 10:30am and business was pretty good with the express manicure and temporary tattoos. Hot pictures like penguin, butterfly, flowers and panda were most popular for body painting.

Food at the fun fair was pretty delicious too though a bit costly… tired the cheesy hotdog, the fish ball and a few sticks of satays. They were not too bad especially parents of the students do them from the school. Even the school bus driver was selling the fried kway teow… cool stuff huh.
Our rest time

Though I left early for my Alpha course, I enjoyed myself helping out at the stall with my friends.

Facebook

About a month ago, I received a couple of invitations from friends to join this new thingy, Facebook. I accepted and registered myself.

After I entered the main page and it looked something like Friendster & Multiply. I told myself it's again another Friendster website for people who want to be connected. Well… as I added more friends to Facebook, the more interesting it gets.

To date, I am so stuck with Facebook and almost ditched Friendster & others. I have to say that Facebook gives you more options to build your friendship with your friends like sending them virtual gifts, drinks, hugs, kisses, drinks, or even get them to join you in a group.

Recently, I have joined my school group and through this Facebook, I am able to reconnect with some schoolmates whom I haven’t seen for the longest time. I was very excited to know that they are there and we are connected once again…. Just like school days.

I have to admit that it’s really very addictive and just couldn’t stop checking out who send you what. It’s almost impossible not to sign in to check my account. This is really one great site that you can talk about with your friends and keep your friendship growing… nay… not that lame lah but somehow you share the same topic about Facebook. I am glad that I have infected some friends to join Facebook!! Hahaha… you know who you are.

Site Inspection@Conrad Centennial

We were invited by Yvonne, the Sales Manager who is taking care of our corporate accounts & Joey from Conrad last night. She kindly arranged several guest rooms for our viewing despite high occupancy in the hotel.

We viewed the normal Classic Room, Executive Floor Room, Centennial Suite & the Executive Lounge where our guest will be having their breakfast, afternoon tea & evening cocktails. I simply like the Executive Floor Rooms though the size of the rooms is actually quite similar to the Classics. They have changed some of their furniture and already upgraded their TVs to Plasma…

After the site inspection, we dined at Oscar’s as usual. When we were led to our table by the restaurant manager, Angela noticed that the 3 women beside our table were talking about us. She couldn’t really hear what they were yakking about but somehow she knew their topic was us.

At first, I did not notice them at all but after what Angie had told me, I began to take notice of them. True enough, they were looking at our table and start to yak about us. Angie who sat nearer to one of those bitches couldn’t stand it and was really fuming when she accidentally sat on that bitch’s bag’s small CORNER and that bitch actually gave Angie that kind of LOOK! Angie couldn’t be bothered and apologized with no sincerity.

The food at Oscar’s was great but those bitches were sick! We were very irritated by the way they looked at us, especially one bitch who gave us that look as if she thinks she is the prettiest babe in Oscar’s! Oh PLEASEEEEEEE!!! Anyway, I think those dumb bitches are just jealous that we are taller than them and we had free dinner!!! Hahahaah…. Sour grapes.

Anyway, what shocked me most was the drink that Yvonne so ‘KINDLY’ ordered! Think about it, the glass was bigger than my face man! It’s an EXTRA EXTRA LARGE orange juice! My goodness, the moment I saw that, I felt bloated already! Thank God, I had my sashimi before that gigantic orange juice arrive on our table! In the end, we surrendered the juice even-though we all chipped in our effort. Maybe that can be included for some reality challenges.

It was certainly an enjoyable night with 2 of my best Sales Mangers, Yvonne & Joey and of course with my buddies, Jessie, Angela & Julia.

Thank you Yvonne & Joey.

The Mellowed Donut Craze

The donut craze for Factory Donut at Carrefour finally mellowed down after the opening of Munchy Donut at Millenia Walk. Those were the days when you will find long queues at Carrefour but now, you won’t even need to queue and you will be able to get most of your favourite donuts.

After our lunch at Suntec Fountain, Julia decided to get Indian Tea at a small corner in Carrefour which we named that area ‘Little India’. Angela who just returned to office after her 3 months maternity leave went to check out the Factory Donut and would want to try her luck of getting them.

To our surprise, she managed to buy ½ dozen just by queuing for less than 10 minutes during lunch hour though there wasn’t much choices. I was tempted to buy but decided not to queue as Angie already bought it for us.

Then around tea-time, errmm… around 4pm, we decided to have our donuts. I picked my favourite White Chocolate & Strawberry, Jessie took Chocolate Mint, Julia & Angie had the White Chocolate & Orange. They were delicious.

After work before heading to Conrad for our site inspection, Angie decided to try Munchy Donut and we queued for it AGAIN! Anyway, it was a breeze through lah… only 5 people in the queue. I bought 3 donuts (Oreo, Cheese & Coca Pops) for mum and hubby. Man… they were delicious too.

Dog-Sitter

It’s been almost a week my cousin brought their dog over to my place while they have their holidays in Europe. It was after a long discussion with hubby before I agreed to take her in for 3 weeks.

Their dog, a white Westie named ‘Lady’ is really cute and well-behaved. She is toilet-trained and in fact, a very smart dog. She knows that my cousins are going for holiday and will leave her at my place for the time being. Though for the 1st night, she wasn’t very comfortable and kept looking at my main door hoping that her owner will bring her home.

After staying at our place for almost a week, she is adapting well and taking us as her owner. Everyday when I leave the house for work, she will look at me sadly and hoping that I will stay home to play with her. When we returned from work, that will be the happiest moment for her as I will spend some time playing with her in her ‘room’ which is my service balcony.

Last weekend, we brought her down for a long walk and she simply enjoyed it though it was quite a long route as hubby decided to jog! Taking her for a walk can be a pleasure coz’ that’s the time when you are building the bond with the pet.

Well, time flies and my cousins will be back from Europe very soon and she will be heading home. It has always been my wish to have a pet dog after the death of my beloved hush puppy! Anyway, hopefully hubby will grow to love dogs and decide to have one in the NEAR future.

Very Expensive Lunch

I was invited to lunch with my boss Minowa-san today and he brought Linda Peh & me to Tempura TenShin. He once told us that this restaurant served the most delicious Tempura in Singapore and today, we finally set foot into that restaurant.

TenShin, located at 3rd floor Regent Hotel is still known as the only specialty tempura restaurant in Singapore. Their known tempuras reflect all the essential qualities of Japanese cuisine; the use of absolutely fresh ingredients, the beautiful artful presentation, and the perfect technique by the skilled chef.

When we reached there, my 1st impression of the restaurant was cozy, nice, very Jap (as it’s pretty small for a Japanese restaurant). There were only a few tables for a group of 4s and long counters where you are able to see what are the Japanese chefs are cooking. It was really cool and pretty interesting coz’ usually, you will see at the Sushi counter but this one, it’s a Tempura counter.

Minowa-san ordered the set lunch for us and it was like a 5 course lunch. Small portion of appetizer was served followed by salad, chawamushi, and tempura, sesame rice with cut tempura prawn, miso soup, fried prawn (side dish) and desserts.

To be honest, I am not a Tempura person but this one, I have to give good credits as it wasn’t oily at all and the taste of the prawns & veggies were great and fresh. I just simply enjoyed the chawamushi as it came with 2 small slices of shark’s fin. Yes, it’s not the normal chawamushi we ate at any Japanese Restaurants; it was really tasty though there were nothing but egg & 2 small slices of shark’s fin.

The sesame rice was something different too though it was just plain rice mixed with sesame & with some cut prawn. Surprisingly, it tasted fantastic and totally awesome.

Tenshin is one good restaurant for Tempura if you’re one of those Tempura Craze… however, delicious and good quality food doesn’t come cheap at all. It’s in fact, very very costly! Almost about $100 per pax for LUNCH!

Donuts Craze

Donuts, donuts & more donuts!!! These days, you can easily find donuts at your nearest shopping malls, MRT stations and now even at your neighborhood. Really, I found one shop that is selling donuts at Hougang opposite the bus interchange. It’s called ‘Donuts Donuts’. They have all the same donut design as Donut Factory, Carrefour style, Missy Donuts and even Dunkin Donuts. Best of all, no need to queue…

Munchy Donuts have just joined the donut WAR around Suntec area today. Within this small business district, we have 2 big names selling donuts & 1 trying to make a name out of this craze! We have the ever so famous Donut Factory, now the Munchy Donuts & the donuts from Carrefour. Man… from my point of view, they are just DONUTS la…

They are officially opened today and my colleague took the time to join the queue and bought us some to try. Well, she told me that they have about 20 different flavors but left a few to choose from when it was her turn. She bought ½ dozens for $6.50 which is the norm.

Well, I was offered the Strawberry Yogurt Donut from the little brown box. The texture of the donut was really soft and yummy but it was ruined by the taste of the super sweet strawberry coating which might cause me diabetes. It’s too sweet for my taste.

Honestly, I am no donut fan but it was like a fast moving 'fashion' where you can get fancy looking donuts everywhere but yet have to queue up for hours. From what I have tasted, I still prefer the donuts from Donut Factory if I have to pick one.

Will you take the time to queue for hours just for donuts? Nay... bet you have better stuff to do then to queue ya…
