10th Alpha Course Ended

Time really flies… it’s already 10 weeks ago since we 1st started and last night, it was our last session. During these 10 weeks, it was really a good experience for me as I have grown much closer to God.

I have learnt to how to pray in the correct way, was given an idea how to read the bible without falling asleep and how to be closer to HIM. Through this course, I have made a couple of great friends whom I will keep in touch with and hopefully for a long long time.

I got to say that I am indeed led by the Holy Spirit to attend this course every Thursday coz’ I tend to be lazy and couldn’t be bothered much when it comes to church issues. Somehow, there is this excitement in me on every Thursday and always look forward to it. I guess that’s the way God works in me.

The amazing thing was somehow when it was Thursday, my work flow became low and usually I could finish up my work early and leave on the dot. He provide me a smooth traffic (MRT) and best of all, he led friends to attend the course with me.

Honestly, I am very thankful to HIM for giving me this opportunity to learn more and be closer to him despite I am such a sinner!

Friends, if you haven’t been to the Alpha, I think you should go and experience it yourself as being closer to God is a wonderful feeling, feels like Heaven!!!

Alpha Course - 'Healing'

We have come to the 2nd last session of Alpha course last night and it was one session that I was looking forward to... ‘Healing’

I have heard so much about the 'Healing' but have never been to one. During the normal session, we were break up into groups and last night, it was no difference. I was the 1st in my group to receive healing. The feeling was so great that I really felt the Holy Spirit cleansing my soul and healing my spiritual wounds. I felt really light and had so much peace in me.

What really amazed me was after I was prayed over; the Holy Spirit was still in me. You might asked me what made me think so… well, while we were praying over Jolly (my group member), I felt my right hand shaking and I thought to myself that my hands might be tired having to raise up for quite a while. I decided to change my hands position but somehow it was shaking again despite any position.

Susan who was standing beside me saw my hands shaking and told me not to worry as the Holy Spirit is using me as an instrument at that moment. I was relieved and let myself go with the Holy Spirit. It really amazed me as that was the 1st time I experienced that.

It is really true that when you open up the door Jesus is knocking, you will be blessed. As the saying goes; Seek and you shall find, Ask and you shall receive and Knock and the door will be opened to you.

Amen.

Canaan Church 34th Anniversary

When I was little, I used to attend Sunday school at Canaan Church with my cousins. My parents & relatives will attend their Sunday worship services.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Sunday school time as I made lots of friends and had fun with those games and songs the teacher taught. Though it was an hour of fun and games, I do learn about the Christian faith through songs, games & teachings by the teacher.

I graduated from Sunday school and started to attend worship services. Been to the services but wasn’t faithful about it and soon after, I stopped. In the year 1997, I was baptized as a Roman Catholic after attending 1 full year of R.C.I.A. Since then, I have been attending weekly mass and all the events like Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, Christmas, etc…

Today, I was invited by my mum to join her for this special occasion at CHIJMES where Canaan Church celebrates its 34th birthday. When we arrived, we were ushered to our table by my cousin Lai Kuan who was in-charge of reception area. I saw many familiar faces and some of the aunties remembered me and we talked about my younger days.

Though I am not attending this church anymore, I felt very happy that it survived through all the hard times they were facing and now, it has become a bigger church, from a single level bungalow to a 4 storey high building. I am glad that my mum brought me along to this celebration and it allows me to catch up with some old friends or Sunday school classmates. It was indeed an enjoyable afternoon.

Farewell Party@Zouk

Last night was the last day for Tan Wee Teck, our dear colleague for 5 years. He was one of the good guys in our office who is always willing to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, and a word of good advice.

Some of the managers brought him to dinner at Marina Square and we, the girls, went for the site inspection at Meritus Mandarin. Our dinner was great at Pine Court with an awesome night view.

After dinner, we went to Zouk to chill out while waiting for the guys to arrive. At around 10ish, the crowd started to flow in and by the time the guys got there, it was already pretty crowded. So, we did a little tour around Velvet Underground, Phuture & Zouk for our 1st timer, Wendy, Philip & Wee Teck.

All of us were eager to dance the night away so, we went to Zouk where Susan reserved a table for us. When we were there, the waiter told us that there was no reservation by her and we found our own cozy corner near the DJ eventually.

Man… these colleagues of mine… can’t stop buying jars of drinks. We had quiet a few jars of different drinks including Long Island, Bacardi Green Tea, Bourbon Coke etc… Then, Susan bought Wee Teck ‘Flaming Lamborghini’… he was all set to get drunk coz’ he knows he will not be let off that easy!

Zouk in house DJ was pumping up the music and we too are pumping up too!!! haaaa… all of us danced and Philip was the main dancer last night. He just let go all those moves which we have never seen at our Dinner & Dance!!

Nick Warren was the guest DJ and his music was good and he came on with great drum & base, some mixture of trance & house. The crowd was great and spontaneous.

Wee Teck was already ‘flying’ by 1am and Patrick, our other target was ‘flying half’ too. It was enjoyable as it was the 1st time partying with colleagues.

Goodbye My Fair ‘Lady’

Time flies… ‘Lady’ already stayed with us for 3 weeks and today, my cousin returned from their Europe trip.

I rushed home after work to spend some time with lady and it seemed like she knows she will be leaving our place. She wasn’t her usual self at all, not the hyper active, cheeky, and greedy…she was all quiet & sad.

When my cousins came in the house, she knew them from their ‘smell’. She was really overjoyed to see them and could not stop jumping. Mum & I were glad to see her back to her active self but were sad to see her leave.

Dogs are men’s best friends and you will develop an unexplainable feeling with them though it’s only a short 3 weeks.
