A Day Trip@Macau

It was my 1st time visiting Macau.

During my trip to Hong Kong, we planned to spend some time in Macau. It was an hour ferry ride from Hong Kong to Macau though it was supposed to ‘Turbo Jet’! Alright, it’s slightly more comfortable than the usual ferries we took to Batam & Bintan.

When we touched Macau ground, I wasn’t surprised to see many Chinese flooding in, mostly really rude and loud. We do see some Australians, Hong Kong Citizens, and Americans and of course a small numbers of Singaporeans with families & kids.

1st, we took the bus number 3 for a ride round Macau. The bus fare was HK2.50 per person which was really cheap. It was a flat rate of HK2.50 and we were able to take the bus outside the ferry terminal to the bus terminal! It was a good 20 minutes bus ride which was considered quite a reasonable sight-seeing for us.

Our 1st stop was to visit the ‘Ruins of St. Paul’s’ which is one of the icon of Macau. The façade & majestic stairway are all the remain of the Ruinas de Igreja Sao Paulo, a Jesuit church built in the 17th Century by Japanese refuges who fled anti-Christian persecution in Nagasaki. In 1835, a fire destroyed everything except the screen-like façade, mosaic floor and 66-step approach you can see in my picture.

Was thrilled to see the Largo do Senado (Senate Square). This is an amazing central shopping area Macau that looks almost like European town. The old three and four-storey multi-coloured buildings abut a beautiful square. Largo do Senado is Portuguese for Senate Square which is named after Leah Senado, the Portuguese house of government for the colony.

For those who know me very well, yes, I am afraid of heights. Since I was already there, I thought it would be nice to see the whole Macau up above! Paid HK$75 per person just to take the lift up to the 58th floor where the Observation Lounge is situated. It was an amazing view of the whole Macau and the most interesting part of the lounge was a few parts of the flooring were made of glass. It gave you a ‘fear’ feeling when you stepped onto the glass pane where you could look down…. Man… it’s scary!

On the 61st floor, it was the Outdoor Observation Deck & for those who are very advantageous, you may try their ‘Skywalk X’. It is a guided outdoor WALK around the tower!!!

Our last stop before heading back to Hong Kong was the MUST visit Casino. There are plenty of casinos in Macau; almost every street you visit has at least 1 casino. We visited the stunning gold glass exterior Sands Casino which is a distance away from the ferry terminal. The place was really huge and beautiful decorated. It has 4 storeys and each level offers different minimum amount of betting.

Macau is indeed a beautiful and historical place to visit and please try their egg tarts… its awesome! Yummy!

Disneyland Hong Kong

My 2nd day in Hong Kong and I am all excited about heading to Disneyland. It will be my 3rd Disneyland destination though I have liked a couple to complete my ‘collection’. Heehaw… when we were walking towards the ticket booth, I really felt so young again, like a child’s 1st time to this huge playground.

It started off with a very hot morning and right after breakfast, took the MTR to Sunny Bay and took another MRT to Disneyland. When we reached there, I was really all excited and can’t wait to enter. It was kind of crowded though it was a MONDAY! The entrance fee was HKD 295 per person, mmm... slightly cheaper than the Euro Disney.

Our 1st stop was the photo-taking with Pluto, he was so adorable and in case you guys didn’t know, Pluto is my favorite. There was this new thingy there…. Pirates of the Caribbean. Was walking around and came to meet my most darling…. Captain JACK! He is so cool and in fact, he really looked like Johnny Depp. Took the cruise ride and I have to tell you man... the queue is really painful.

The sun didn’t shine for long as it started to pour heavily. Man… we had to get ourselves an umbrella and this is the most expensive umbrella I have ever bought. Okay, it’s a Disney umbrella but somehow I felt that it’s only a bloody umbrella (though it’s cute la).

Went for the ‘Lion King Show’, I have to say that it was really good. The singing, dancing and their props were colourful and awesome. The show lasted for 30 good minutes.


Overall, this Disneyland is really small, nothing much to walk and talk about as compared to Euro Disney and Disneyland in L.A. Friends, if you plan to visit Hong Kong, I think you should visit Disneyland if you are really damn free or if you’re with kids. Or else, I think you can skip it lor, save the $$ and fly to Disneyland in L.A, Tokyo or Paris.

Our General Manager Mr. Kitagawa invited to his house again for staff gathering. It was my maybe 4th time to the company house but last night, it was a different crowd. We were grouped by departments.

My colleagues & I left for his place after work and when we settled down, we started our own karaoke before the rest arrived. We were expecting about 45 staff and it would be nerve wracking to sing with such a crowd. Not that we are pros...

The buffet line started soon after GM's short speech. The food weren't fantastic but was enough to fill my roaring stomach. In fact, I enjoyed having the fruits we bought earlier during our fire drill... hehehehehe..

BBQ pit was set up too but my group of friends was too lazy to BBQ the food. To our surprise, the youngest Japanese guy volunteered himself to barbeque the food, it was really sweet of him. He is none other than Nishida-san. He is not only good looking but with a good heart, gentle and man... he is just simply cute lah. The best looking Japanese boss in our company!

At the party, there were pretty good singers, a couple of Japanese bosses sang pretty well and particularly, this guest from Japan who came to SIN to train our CHE dept. staff for the 'WINGS' program. He is a great singer... very good voice. Besides the Japanese singers, we have our local male singers too...

Apart from that, I noticed that there was 1 Japanese lady (guest from Japan) that looked like some 'girl' in that Japanese VCD!!!! Well, she wasn't pretty but mmmh... she looked like the girl in some porn show lah... she kept touching her hair an adjusting the hair to cover both sides of her face and acted demure.. AIYO lor.. She was the HOT topic among my colleagues and some guys in the house.

The whole party was fun and relaxing. I think it's really a good idea that we have such gathering once in awhile to allow more staff interaction. I am looking foward to the next party at GM's place.

The Phantom Of The Opera

The wait was finally over for me though the musical started in March. Been trying to find time to watch but can't seem to. Anyway, was really glad that I could catch their final show.

The seats that I bought were pretty good. Seats were on stall foyer and centre... perfect view. The crowd today was young and some even brought young children.. Yes, young ones. I was wondering if those young kids really understand the musical but on the other hand, perhaps they really did.

The musical was just perfect and great... it's just simply awesome. The stage props were amazing. The lady who played 'Christine' with a powerful voice was great and pretty. The lighting, costumes, music and the singing blew me away.

I particularly love the part when 'Christine' and the Phantom went to his chamber via the boat.. woww... it was romantic and the stage setup for that scene were romantic and real. All the songs like 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Music of The Night' & 'All I Asked of You' were all my favourite songs.

Though this is my second time watching it, I preferred this one, as the whole stage settings were much better than the last one at Kallang Theatre couple of years back. It was truly worth the $$ and now I will wait for Lion King... ROAR!

Movie Weekend..

It was really a fun Saturday afternoon outing with my buddy. We met and went for movie at Lido. Cool stuff yes indeed it's really cool to hang out with friends once in a while on a Saturday afternoon though it's super crowded.

Watching movie at Lido can be very very sinful if you're not careful. Well.. let me explain this coz' it happened to us!!! The movie was at 1:30pm and we were early so, we planned to get some snacks for the show. Things will usually turn wild when both love to snack!!! kekekeeke...

1st, we were over-excited coz' its been a long time since we last met for movies on a weekend. 2nd, there were so much food/snacks choices there.. (more than Cathay and GV man!!) Liz went straight to KFC for her cheese fries and as usual, I went to get my popcorn combo. Then after all those purchased, we realized that we are still early and were not allow entering yet. Liz became even more excited and she charged straight to Glory and we ended up buying more snacks from there too.. SINFUL!

The movie that we watched was 'Blades of Glory'. It was really really funny though pretty lame. The story line was simple but was really funny especially their outfits and their stuns..

The movie was about 2 rival ice-skaters were stripped of their Gold Medals and banned for life. Later, they found a loophole that will allow them to compete putting aside their differences, they can skate together.. in PAIRS!

It was really hilarious and well.. It’s surely brought us back to those good old days when we used to catch movies of Stephen Chow!!! Let's do that again sometime on a weekend..

Cravings

Everyone craves for something sometimes and lately, I have experienced a list of stuff that I am craving for... No.. don't get me wrong, I am not pregnant yet.

Well... 1st of all, my best bud just had a tattoo done and it was pretty. In fact, both of us had our tattoos done together but this time round, she did it alone... :( (As I am still begging my hub) Honestly, I have the design in mind but now waiting for VISA approval to have it done.

2nd, dreamt about a strange chicken dish once in awhile and was looking all over Singapore for it but somehow it doesn't exist... The chicken was grilled with several herbs and yellowish in colour when it was served. Can you believe it; I could even remember the taste and the smell of it!!! Goodness me...

3rd, Can anyone tell me when will be the best time to queue for the Donut at Citilink? Had it once and it is indeed additive. Though there wasn't anything special about the donut, it definitely tasted awesome, especially the white chocolate coating piece.

Durian has been my favorite fruit of all time... Yes... you guessed it right. This is my 4th in the CRAVE list... Been wanting that yellowish fruit especially when I am traveling along Geylang and even at Cold Storage. You must be wondering why in the world am I craving for something that is seen everywhere. Well... I can only blame it on the weather! Hahahaa... it has been humid lately and durian being a 'heaty' fruit is not helping much. Sighz...

Last but not least, my craving for the crab noodle at Ang Mo Kio is the hardest to get. The crowd there is never ending and the price of that dish is a killer! People, if you haven't been there, you got to man... Hopefully I can satisfy my craving for that awesome, out of the world crab noodle soon... Arrrggghhhhh....

Mother's Day

Mothers are the greatest gift that God has given to us. They are the ones who will lift you up when you're down and keep you calm when you're afraid.

It was Mother's Day and the young ones have decided to bring our mothers out for a good meal, as they definitely deserved it.

We brought them to dine at Chin Huat Seafood at Sunset Way and it was very crowded especially during special occasions. The food was great but the waiting for each dish to be served was agonizing. We had to wait for 20 minutes for our food to be served and the best part was... our 'Hor Fun' din make it... we waited for 1/2 hour for it but it was too tiring to wait, so we decided to cancel it.

It wasn't a complete meal so; we went to Red Hill for our desserts. After having the delicious desserts, we called it a night. Thought it was a very simple outing and dinner, it was all worth it when you see the smile on our mother's face.

Mummy dearest... we want to tell you that we always love you and thank you for giving us your unconditioned love.

It's my god-daughter's birthday and we met up for dinner at Merchant Court last night. I was all excited about dinning at Ellenborough Cafe coz' they are pretty much well-known for their reasonable price and good food, mmh...especially their durian pudding... just yummy...

When we reached there, it wasn't crowded like it used to be and we were seated near the main entrance of the cafe. The cafe was cozy and gave me a homely feel... heee...

They were serving international buffet and last night's variety was quite alright except Linda was complaining that Satays & Buah Keluak were missing in action.

However, the starters were not too bad when we tried the mango prawn with peanut sauce... not too bad, the mango was good. There were also shark's fins soup with 'fake' abalone (it tasted more like abalone mushroom) but the plus point was... the Chef preparing the soup was really a good looking chap. He's a China National and can't speak English for nuts.

I took Jessie to have a good look at him and she replied telling me 'wow... not many China man are that good looking hor' and I grinned and said 'ya lor..' then she had to spoil it all by saying 'this one so good looking, thought most are like Sun Zhi Hai' (in case you aren't sure who is that.. he's playing for Manchester City in English Premier League). My goodness... so anti-climates!!!

During dessert time, Jessie & I decided to dig in for the durian pudding which I was craving for... but it wasn't refilled. That good looking Chef was very helpful and told us to wait for refill. He told us in mandarin 'please wait for us to refill, we have to get the refill underneath (Xia Mian)!! The refill is underneath (he pointed the floor this time) so, we will take a couple of minutes to get it done. Please wait for my return'. Both Jessie & I immediately burst out laughing as why on earth is the refill underneath? Was the durian pudding so Wicked that he had to refill it from hell!! We were puzzled but found it very funny... and we thought about it and probably he was trying to tell us that the stocks are stored at the basement...but he used 'underneath'!!! Faint!! Aiyo lor...

After a couple of minutes, we went to check out the durian from 'underneath' and it was indeed refilled. I went to his Shark's Fin counter to thank him. Being naughty, I asked for his name. He proudly pointed his name tag to me and I saw the name 'Thomas'... I smiled and walked away. Back to the table, I told Linda & Jes that his name is Thomas! We started laughing coz' we were all guessing his chinese name earlier.

Linda said 'aiyo... can't speak English but got himself an English name!! That name tag must be a spare one la... and the management must have taught him how to pronounce it.' In fact, he didn't even pronounce his name but just proudly showed me his name tag which was tagged on his uniform.

After the desserts, I politely asked the waiter to invite Thomas over to have a pix with us so that all you readers out there can see his face. He was really shy and after taking pix with us, looking worried and shy, he asked for permission to be excused!! Wah lao lor...

I clearly remembered that when I received the MMS of a baby boy from Sheryl, it was on the 10th of April 2007. I was all excited and hoping to see this little baby.

Today, we were invited to join the 1 month celebration of Master Darius Er. There he was on the bed like a little angel sleeping soundly and those little hands, just so tender and soft.

When I had him in my arms, I felt so warm and so soft. Though I was afraid of carrying new born, I could handle it with the help of his mum. The feeling of having a child in your arms was great and hopefully I will have one of my own soon.

Anyway, our best warmest wishes the proud parents of Darius Er.
