Goodbye Bintan!

It has come to the end of our vacation in Indonesia. After breakfast this morning, we went back to our room to do our final packing and off we go.

Our ferry departs at around 11:30am and we checked out early to wait for our transport. Faith was quite excited to go home as I think she is missing grandma. We told her that grandma will be waiting for us at home and she will be seeing her soon.

During the ferry ride, she doze off after 20 minutes and it was not a very smooth ride for me as it was raining and the sea was pretty rough! As usual, hubby was sleeping soundly while I was quietly suffering… arrggghhhh….

When we reached home, Faith was still asleep in my arms and man… I could feel the numbness as she is no longer as light as a baby…

We thoroughly enjoyed the short get-away and we will be back soon!

Day 2 In Bintan

When I woke up this morning hoping to be in for breakfast, hubby told me that I was looking at the wrong time as Indonesia is 1 hour behind Singapore. So to say, we were actually having breakfast earlier than usual.

However, it was already crowded when we arrived at the restaurant but we were given a seat shortly as most of them in the queue are in big groups. I took some food for Faith but in the end, she only preferred ‘Egg White’ of the hard boiled eggs.

After breakfast, we chilled and relaxed at the pool side. Faith was once again happy to go for a dip and this time, she was rather brave to be on her own after a short while. She even pushed us away from her while she had a great time lying back… we were speechless!!

We took her for a walk after the dip and thought she would love to hang out at the kid’s area but she did not enjoy at all so, we went back to our room for an afternoon nap. She slept through about a good 3 hours while we watched the Olympics.

Since luncheon was taken quite early today, we decided to have an early dinner. We explored some of the restaurants and ended up at Bintan Lagoon’s newest addition. Hubby ordered seafood dinner which includes prawns, rice, beef and baked potato. I wanted to go light so, I had the salmon. As for Faith, we thought she might want to share the rice or salmon but ended up having the buns instead.

Good night Bintan!

Bintan, Here We Come!

I totally have no idea what to get for my hubby for his birthday and finally, I came up with a suggestion to go Bintan for a short-getaway and turned out to be a birthday pressie for him.

We set off for our afternoon ferry after having heavy breakfast with my mum. When we arrived at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, there was quite a lot of tourist queuing at the immigration. We sat at the café for a while since it was pretty early to board.

It took about 55 minutes to reach Bintan by ferry and the ride was somehow smooth. Faith was soundly asleep half way through the journey and I managed to take a short nap too. It did not took us long to clear the immigration in Bintan as most of the tourist had to apply for ‘Visa on Arrival’ while we went straight through.

The check-in at Bintan Lagoon did not take us long neither and we were quickly given a room shortly after. This time, our room was on the ground floor and it has its pros & cons. We found lots of red ants when we checked out the outdoor and we called the House-keeping to clear them.

Since it was sunny, we brought our little one for a dip. She was very happy to ‘assist’ her dad to pump her float and was very eager to go to the pool. We decided to go to the main pool since it was not crowded. She almost jumped into the pool fully dressed while I was trying to undress her…

We returned to our cozy room for an afternoon nap since it started to drizzle. I must say that it was indeed a great nap before dinner… haahahahahaha….

Hubby suggested that we should dine at the Japanese Restaurant since it was his birthday. He ordered the teppanyaki set dinner while I had simple bento set. Faith became cranky after a short while and we had to take turns to pacify her by bringing her for a short walk.
Before heading back to our room, I stopped by at the lobby café to get hubby a piece of cake since they did not have a whole cake available. Faith was excited when she saw the cake and she happened to be the one who chose it.

We had a small celebration for hubby in the room and he was really happy though it was a very simple one. Guess what… Faith was the one who finished almost three quarter of the cake and poor hubby only managed to taste a small part and the cream.

Happy birthday baby and hope you will have an enjoyable time in Bintan. We love you!

Father-In-Law’s Birthday Celebration

July has one of the most birthday celebrations being it family or friends. Today, we will be celebrating my father in law’s birthday at Beng Hiang Restaurant.

We managed to get a private room this time as it was a Friday night compared to the previous time when we tried to book the room on weekends. After everyone’s arrival, we instructed them to serve the food we pre-ordered.
Since it was a birthday celebration, the first dish was the ‘birthday buns’ which the kiddos loved so much. Faith enjoyed the bun very much and I had to give up mine for her. The rest of the dishes were cold dish, the signature dish – Fish Maw Soup was served thereafter. Of all the dishes, my favorite dish is still Fish Maw soup.

We too had BBQ suckling pig, Yu Lan Chicken (their signature dish), pan fried prawns, steam fish, spinach with abalone mushrooms and their in-house Hokkien noodles.

Everyone enjoyed the dishes including the kiddos and before our desserts served, we had a small celebration for father-in-law. Initially, I wanted to bake him a Durian Cake but hubby could not fetch us to the restaurant, I dropped the idea as it will not be nice to take a cab with the cake which will smelled… I decided to get him a Black Forest Cake from Four Leave instead.

The waitress wanted to play the birthday song on the PA system but we preferred to do it as a private affair. The kiddos were more than happy to join in the singing.

It was such a wonderful and enjoyable night with the family and now, I can’t wait for our trip to Bintan tomorrow…. *winks*

Happy Birthday Pa, may the good Lord bless you with good health always. We love you.
