Belated Dinner Gathering

We try to meet for dinner during birthdays or perhaps during Christmas yearly. It’s always great to meet with friends whom you are close with but yet rarely meet.

Today, we are happy that we were able to meet for Linda’s birthday and we chose to dine at Oscars’. It’s been a while since we dined at Oscars together as I used to organize site inspection for the ladies in the past…

Though Linda’s birthday was couple of weeks ago, I brought along the cupcakes I made for Faith for her too, at least she got to have a cake made by her God-ma…
Dinner was great as usual where we always had interesting and funny stuff to talk about. She told us about her travel mate and it was hilarious! There were too much to talk about but too little time. We promised that we will meet again soon…
Happy belated birthday Linda Inez…

Faith Turns THREE

Our little Miracle will turn THREE today and since it’s a school day, we had to send her to school so that she can celebrate with her friends too.

After sending her to school, it was the beginning of a busy day for me as I have planned to bake muffins for her classmates & cupcakes for Faith. I only had the morning to finish up everything and I am thankful that I was had baked her birthday cake last evening.

I was happy that I managed to get all the stuff done after luncheon. Though my kitchen was in a mess but I guess all are worth it as I was doing it for my little one. After resting for a short while, I began to prepare all her party stuff and cakes before we head to her school.

When we arrived to her school during their tea time, teacher told us that all the kiddos just woken up. Guess we came at the right time. With the help of the teacher, we got everything ready within minutes and got the party started. Her classmates were excited to see the cake and the goody bags.

When we opened up the cake on the table for Faith, her classmates got even more excited and came over to check the cake out. We heard a few of them saying… ‘Wow, it’s a colourful cake!’

The teacher gathered the kiddos and started to sing Faith a birthday song. She was happy no reaction as I believed she just woke up a while ago and was not that ready yet… after the cake cutting ceremony, we distribute the colourful cakes to her friends. I had request from her classmates for a second helping on the cake… yippy… it worked, the kids liked it.
After the party at school, we took Faith for a quick shower and left for dinner… We brought her to SingKids at Changi Airport T3 as her birthday treat but she seemed to be bored with those balloons as I believed she preferred Hokey Pokey.

When we got home, the first thing Faith wanted was to open her presents. After cleaning her up, she was all ready to open those gifts lying in our study room. She helped me to bring them out to the living room and ordred me to have her picture taken with the presents...

Happy Birthday Sweetheart Faith! May the good Lord shower you with his love & blessings always and always remember that we all LOVE you very much. Thank you friends & family for your lovely gifts.

Happy Sunday

Was woken up by Faith early this morning and her first words to me were ‘good morning mama, you wake up already?’ Though it was such a pain to get up on a Sunday morning but having those greetings were simply great!

I guess she was excited about heading to Hokey Pokey which we told her about last night. After breakfast, we headed off to Hokey Pokey as promised and we were the first few customers when they opened. She was overjoyed and started to play with the slides, the kitchens etc…

She was really enjoying herself playing with those slides & being a chef or perhaps shopping in the supermarket. There was a short session when they released bubbles and all the kiddos including Faith were happy to join catching those bubbles…
After spending a good 2 hours there, we were the ones who felt tired compared to the energized Faith! After lunch, we brought the birthday girl to Toys R Us to shop for her birthday gift and she went crazy upon seeing those toys. As she walked, she pointed to the toys and said, mama, I want this and that… then we told her that she should check out the rest before deciding and told her that she is only allowed to get 1 gift each from both of us.

After walking one full round, she decided to get herself a doctor set (courtesy from dad) and a toaster set from me. She was happy and she told us that she want to be home early so that she can start playing with them. However, we told her that she has to wait till tomorrow to open her pressies. Though feeling disappointed but she knew she has to wait…

A Relaxing Saturday

After a busy birthday celebration yesterday for our little miracle, we planned to have a relaxing day by waking up late than usual…

We lazed in our room after a light breakfast and got ready for the afternoon tea as our lunch at the lobby lounge. It wasn’t crowded on a Saturday afternoon and somehow pretty empty in my opinion. The buffet spread was simple and not as much as those you see at Marriott or Mechant Court.

After the afternoon tea, we went back to our room to get ready for the pool where Faith was excited about. The pool wasn’t crowded in the afternoon as I guess most of the guest would prefer an evening swim instead. The pool water was icy cold and I preferred to be on the beach chair for to sunbathe while they have their bonding session… :)

Faith’s 3rd Birthday Celebration

Time really flies… our little miracle will be turning three in a few days’ time. For the past two years, we invited our friends & family to join us in the celebration but this year, we wanted to keep it as a family affair.
We booked a small area at Oscar’s, Conrad Centennial Singapore to host lunch for our family. The restaurant staff was really warm and friendly as our guest were very treated. It was a buffet lunch and everyone came hungry… hahhaahhaha…. We did not really decorate the area but bought a few balloons for the kiddos.

The elderly seemed to enjoy the buffet spread pretty much as we saw them heading out for a few rounds. As for us, we were busy looking after Faith and trying to get the rest of the kiddos not to run around. Finally, we managed to give them some tasks… drawing and coloring really came in handy.

The restaurant staff also helped to organized as we gathered everyone at the center table for cake cutting ceremony. The staff got the ball rolling and everyone started to sing birthday song to our little Faith. She was somehow shock but happy as she knew it was her birthday.

After cutting the cake, Faith couldn’t wait to get her hands on the Barney figurine and the Elmo decors. The staff assisted us to slice the cakes and served them to our guest which was really highly appreciated. They came back with the rest of the cake on a plate with decors which made it looked like another cake…

Everyone enjoyed the food and went back happy. Since it was a long weekend, we booked a room in the hotel so that we could spend more time with our little one.
Thank you family and friends for your wonderful birthday gift to our little Faith. God bless you.

Faith’s Creation

When I came home this evening, my little wonder came running to me telling me that her Elmo went to the beach. At first, I was puzzled and told her that I will hear her out after my shower.

She patiently waited for me outside the bathroom and was excited when I got out. She showed me to the living room and to my surprise, indeed, Elmo looked like he went to the beach…

On the floor, there was a white towel with some blocks as pillars, an umbrella and some food in a bowl. Elmo was found lying down seemed to be enjoying the sun… hahaahahahah… it was indeed a funny sight but I would say that she is pretty creative.

Casual Dinner

It has been in the planning for couple of weeks and finally so many obstacles… we finally got to meet for this dinner. Our dearest mummy Florence was able to meet us despite her busy travelling schedule.

Linda & I met her at NEX before heading to the restaurant. When I first noticed mummy Florence, I was surprised that she got a hair-cut. Later did I found out that that was actually a wig which she bought from Korea. It looked very natural and nice on her.
We went to La Pizzaiola for dinner and that would mark mummy Florence’s first visit. She browsed through their website before visiting and she thought the place was nice and cozy. Leng & I discussed and I placed the order finally.
While we were waiting for my hubby to arrive, we ordered the egg plants, burratina & focaccia bread as our starters. It was quite a good time for the three of us to catch up on stuff before hubby gets here.
After hubby arrived, we ordered the mains like squid ink risotto, squid ink pasta, mixed pizza of tuna & spicy salami and the beef cheeks. These are some of our favorite dishes in this restaurant.

I really enjoyed dinner with them and thank my friends for joining us. Mummy, wishing you a pleasant and enjoyable trip to Europe. See you again when you get back ya.

Rie’s Birthday Lunch

Our dear friend Rie celebrated her birthday two days ago and today, she gave us a lunch treat. Leng, our ‘Food Director’ kindly went to get our luncheon for us. They bought our lunch from Far East Square which Daphne recommended one of the popular wanton noodles.

They also bought other dishes from another restaurant. We had a simple gathering at our very own dining room and we were happy. The food was pretty good though the wanton noodles were not as tasty.

After our lunch which ended pretty early, we went to the infamous meeting room where we took many silly pictures with the birthday girl!

Happy birthday Rie once again! I hope you enjoyed the luncheon & the photo-session! Thanks for the lunch treat! hahhaahahah

SVDP Outing to Melaka

The team of SVDP at BSC organized a members outing to Melaka and hubby gladly signed us up for the trip. I remembered the last time we had a dinner gathering instead of travelling. This would be the first time for us joining the team.

Woke up early and assembled at BSC Church to wait for the coach. I was feeling sleepy and tired but Faith was all awake and excited. We had a great & smooth coach ride from SIN to Melaka as our tour guide & driver were fantastic.

Our first stop was in JB where they stopped us for breakfast. We went to this simple coffee shop where we had our breakfast. The food was cheap and pretty tasty. After our breakfast, we continued our long journey to Melaka.

When we finally arrived in Melaka, we went straight to the local Chinese restaurant for our lunch…food was great. Our tour guide Richard told us that our rooms at Hatten Hotel are ready and we happily checked in after lunch.

This would be our second time staying at Hatten Hotel. We visited Melaka with our family last year and we stayed there. The rest of the group went out for some shopping while I preferred to stay in with Faith.
The coach came to pick us up to St. Peter’s Church for sunset mass. It is our first experience to attend mass. The St. Peter’s Church was built in 1710 and till date, it’s about 303 years old. The place is very well kept and it really has the traditional church feel when we stepped on the church ground.

After mass, we went for Peranaka dinner at one of the popular restaurant where they considered one of the better ones. The dinner was pretty good and our little Faith enjoyed dinner even though she only had eggs with rice. We finished our dinner early as we tried to avoid normal dinner time as many will be celebrating Mother’s Day.

True enough, the crowd started flowing in by the time our dinner ended. Richard then suggested that we should take a walk at Jonker Street as it will be cooler to walk in the night than the day.

I remembered the last time we went to Jonker Street during our visit, it was in the day and it was so hot that we did not even enjoy ourselves. This time, we walked slowly and noticed that there was quite a lot of stuff to buy and see. As usual, I bought some (in fact) lots of goodies from San Shok Gong… that’s part of the reason why we visit Melaka. Lol

After a tiring and fruitful day, we went back to hotel to rest… Good Night Melaka!

A Pleasant Surprise

I decided to be home earlier to finish up some packing for our weekend trip to Malacca than to shop around after a long days’ of work…

After dinner, I sat down to chill with Faith while she was watching her shows on YouTube. She was showing me some other videos like how they made a rainbow cakes & cupcakes. This is the usual quality time I can spend with her daily after work.

When her papa returned from his dinner at his parents’ place, she told him to open the store room to get her school bag. Hubby was puzzled and did as he was instructed. She opened up the bag and brought out a card… she then held papa’s hand and walked to me saying… “Mummy, I made this for you… this is my heart… you see, nice?” I was really touched by the gestures and how thoughtful my little wonder was.

I asked her if she did that all by herself and she told me that Teacher Priya helped her to write the words and she did the decorations… Cool stuff…

Thank you darling for the lovely Mother’s Day card which made the occasion such a meaningful one!!! I love you very much little wonder!

Lunch At Xi Yan

Since my new boss, Yatomi-san took over as our new DH, we made it a point to do a monthly inspection to new restaurants. We went to Wah Lok Cantonese Restaurant last month and today, I brought him to Xi Yan.

This would be my second time visiting this interesting restaurant. It’s more like a private dining where they will only entertain guest with reservation and menu to be pre-ordered. I remembered my first visit was with Minowa-san & Linda where I had an enjoyable lunch.
Our first dish was their signature Greenhouse tomatoes in wasabi sesame which tasted heavenly. I remembered that taste on my first visit and it is still the same. THUMPS UP! Our soup was Ginseng, red date & chicken. The soup was a clear and very extremely DELICIOUS! These two dishes were their starters for any pre-ordered menu.

Our mains were braised pork belly with stewed mushroom… it was YUMS though the pork belly was rather fatty. The sauce was great and not salty. The Dory fillets in spicy lemongrass sauce were pretty good too though it was deep fried but somehow it was oily.

Next was the spicy basil noodle with mushroom in special wine broth. This soup noodle is fantastically tasty! I love the soup as it was light and fragrant. Last but not least, our favourite of the day… their dessert. It was their signature tang yuan in aged ginger soup. Their tang yuan was different as one of the tang yuan was filled with black sesame and the other was the salty egg yolk which was SUPER GOOD!

This is one of the fine restaurants that I would recommend to boss for their entertainment for it is very private and quiet. THUMPS UP!

Ramen For Lunch

Today, we decided to visit Orchard since I have stuff to get at Takashimaya. We usually spent our Sundays near our home so that we can be home beating those traffic jams in town area.

We reached Takashimaya early and decided to have our luncheon before the shopping to beat the lunch time crowd. We walked and check out some eateries and ended up at this corner which served ramen. Baikohken Ramen is located at a very corner of the basement where their tables & chairs are mixed with other Japanese stall. Very small area with limited seats.

We waited for a short while before our seats were ready. Shortly after we were seated, our ramen were served. I ordered the miso chashu ramen so that I can share with Faith while hubby ordered the Tan-tan spicy ramen. We were very shocked to see how big portion our ramen was and I was really thankful that I was sharing the noodles with Faith (though she is not a big eater).

The ramen were served in big bowls with toppers like chashu, egg & vegetables. At the look of it, I began to feel full… LOL… the ramen tasted fine but not as good as the ones at Marutama. The soup was not too salty but not as tasty.

This would be one place that we might not visit again due the limited seats and the not so tasty ramen.
