CNY Visit To Old Friend’s Place

I haven’t opened my house for CNY for the ages so thanks to Viola for inviting us to her place for CNY gathering.

It was my first time visiting her new place at near Joo Chiat and man… her house is huge! I was happy to meet my old friends after so long but it was a pity that most of my close friends were unable to visit due to visiting.

She kindly prepared some food (steamboat) for us but we also brought some home cooked food over. Faith was happy to run around her huge house but was trying hard to avoid Ashton (Eve’s son) as she was upset that he kept snatching stuff from her.

We started our card game after the kids somehow or rather had settled down. Thanks to Viola’s daughter whom helped entertain the kids. How can the CNY without playing cards right… though I broke even after an hour of game la…

The steamboat dinner was delicious though with simple dishes. I realized one of my old friend has turned vegetarian and guess life changes for everyone.

It was a good gathering though just a few of us and thanks Viola for inviting us to her place.

ADM CNY Reunion Dinner

It has been a yearly affair that we will organize a reunion dinner for the department. This year, we arranged dinner at Golden Peony after searching and comparing the menus with other restaurants.

We went to the restaurant after work on a Friday evening and with the set menu pre-ordered, we didn’t need to do much when we arrived. As usual, there were some late comers and dinner officially started at around 7:30pm.

Our first dish was the tossing of Yu Sheng and many well-wishes were spoken and we too hope for a great and blessed Dragon Year. After Yu Sheng, our shark’s fin with seafood and crab roe was served. It was indeed tasty but I felt guilty having shark’s fin soup…

I really love the baked fillet sea perch with mayonnaise and miso sauce; it was super delicious and soft that I would like to have a second serving! The next dish amazed everyone – the Suckling Pig. It was really the WHOLE PIGLET that was served on our table and it was really crispy good! We requested the waitress to have the meat to be cut into smaller pieces so that we could also have some of the meat. Linda tried the pig’s trotters and as well as the pig’s hand. She feedback that it was very tasty and the meat wasn’t oily.

The rest of the dishes were good but nothing much to talk about coz’ they were pretty normal. As for dessert, Linda & I were disappointed when we saw the portion our chilled cream of avocado topped with ice-cream shrunk! It was supposed to be served on a larger bowl but this one was small cup served with a piece of nian gao! Sighz… totally disappointed! Rie… you didn’t miss much!

Anyway, it was a great dinner as usual coz’ we were always in the world of our own; Right? Leng…

Welcoming Mizuki Kwok

Our warmest congratulations going out to the lovely couple – Zhong Li & Rie for the safe arrival of little princess Mizuki-Kwok!

I rushed down to Mount Elizabeth Hospital during lunch time to visit my little God-daughter Kiki and buddy Rie. I was overjoyed and happy for them when I received the sms this morning that she safely delivered Kiki!

When I arrived in her room, Rie was looking good though tired. Shortly, the nurse pushed in little Mizuki and all of us got excited! Emi-chan & myself took turns to carry little Kiki! She is extremely adorable with a good weight of 3.4kg. I managed to get 1st pix with my God-daughter though she is soundly asleep.

Congratulations Zhong Li & Rie!

Second Day Of Chinese New Year

When I was younger, my parents used to visit my grandma on the 2nd day of CNY but ever since she passed away, we don’t visit my aunt (mum side) anymore.

Now, we visit hubby's aunties (mother in law side) and the good part of the visit was it is always a different family we visited every year. My mother in law has 5 sisters and they usually rotate their home for visitation.

We went hubby’s aunt at Sterling Road and this is one family that I am more familiar with. Audrey, the aunt’s daughter who has three lovely daughters is my neighbour. They are staying a block away from mine but we don’t meet often due to our timing.

Faith was enjoying herself playing with the three jie jies while hubby & I took the chance to have lunch in the kitchen. Mother in law helped to keep an eye on Faith too as she can be very naughty! Thankfully she was fully occupied by the toys given to her and the other kids that we enjoyed our lunch peacefully.

After my delicious lunch, I went back to the room and check out my little one and found Shevaun & Faith were enjoying themselves with the mandarin oranges. They were exchanging oranges and passing to the aunties in the room. It was quite a funny scene but it was pretty frustrating when you can’t seem to get the oranges out of their hands!

We headed for home early as Faith was tired after a busy afternoon at his aunt’s place. But she became so awake after her shower and started playing with her ‘friends’!!! I would say that today was a tiring day for us but I wonder where her energy came from after a long day without her usual afternoon nap!

1st Day Of Chinese New Year

Gong Xi Fa Cai everyone!

Early this morning, I woke up early to bake some muffins as desserts for our CNY lunch at my aunt’s place. I managed to bake them with my Air Fryer and it turned out to be pretty good.

We left our place earlier to pick up mum and this year, we were the first family to arrive at my cousin’s place. (Usually, we are the last!) I helped out my aunty to set up the table and made sure everything was in place while hubby was trying to keep little Faith entertained.

We started lunch when everyone arrived and the spread of good food is always prepared by my aunt and chipped in by my cousin in law. This year, she made steam chicken for us and my mum prepared the beef rendang which was requested by cousins.

After a great family luncheon, we lined up and greeted our parents and aunties with oranges. We too got the little ones involved coz’ we have to ‘pai nien’ as a family. The kids entertained themselves with oranges, CNY goodies and Bryan entertained them getting them to draw.

It is a yearly affair that we will take the opportunity to have a family picture taken and though it was difficult to get the kids to focus but we managed to get a good one after a couple of shots. We left for relatives visiting thereafter…
