Lunch At Burlamacco

Boss hosted lunch for our trainee from Japan and we chose to try out the Italian Restaurant located at Amoy Street.

The restaurant was almost filled when we arrived and after browsing through the menu, we decided to order the Balsamic Grilled Octopus Tentacles which has always been my favorite and Burrito cheese served with cherry tomato and Parma ham as our appetizers.

I would give it a THUMPS UP for the Octopus tentacles… it was chewy and tasty. Though the tentacles were big but somehow it was just too good to share… I can finish it at one go…

I ordered the black squid ink risotto with gold leaf which was pretty good but I would very much prefer the angel hair sea urchin pasta which was delicious (though Otto’s preparation was BEST!). Otto’s sea urchin’s pasta was much tastier and refine compared to this.
For mains, I ordered their grilled grain fed beef tenderloin which was heavenly! Everyone had a small share of the beef and enjoyed very much though we were pretty stuffed.
We have to save the space for desserts of course and we ordered their Pannacotta with vanilla bean and berries… the presentation was simply pretty and it tasted just as good.
This restaurant served pretty good food though the price is slightly on the higher side. Will be back again.

Birthday Party Of Julia & Vernon

Vivian’s kiddos celebrated their children’s birthday during this beautiful Easter Season and invited us to join this special occasion.

It was held at her sister’s place at Bishan and this time, the arrangements were much better as there were enough tables and chairs for all their guest. They catered from one of our favourite caterers, Chili Padi and man… I love the food but somehow did not have much appetite.
Faith was initially busy helping mei mei Julia with the decors and when Evelyn’s dog came to the function, it became the center of attraction. All the kiddos started to take turns to walk the dog with the space given.
Faith was really happy to be able to walk the dog but somehow she can’t seem to control the little dog as it wasn’t listening to her instructions… hahaahahaha she did not get mad but spoke to the dog asking it to listen to her.
The lovely parents prepared 2 different cakes for both children and we got to try the best of both birthday cakes… Thumps UP!
Happy birthday to Julia & Vernon, may the good Lord bless you always and shower you with His eternal love.

Maundy Thursday

Lenten season is almost coming to an end and in a few days’ time, we will be celebrating Easter! Today, being Maundy Thursday, we commemorate Jesus having the last supper with his disciples before he suffered and died.

I visited St. Teresa’s Church for mass today and I was surprised that the church members gave out hot cross buns to all parishioners. I personally like hot cross buns as it was simple bread made with raisins and somehow it reminds me on how simple Jesus’s life was when he was on earth.
During mass, I could not understand why I was tearing… I guess the Holy Spirit was with me all the while and truly, this year is rather special!! The moment they reenact the scene of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples, I felt very overwhelmed.
When mass was drawing to an end and when the priest made his rounds with the ‘Jesus’ in his hands, my tears was flowing down uncontrollably… hubby could easily understand and handed me a tissue immediately. Later he mentioned that I should bring along a towel instead… hahaahahaah

House-Warming Party

My boss has just moved into his new apartment and he invited us to a house-warming party. We gladly accepted the invitation and we bought gifts for his party.

He kindly arranged wine and food from Wine Connection and we were happy to have Oba-san to join us too. This is one rare occasion and we enjoyed the food and wine he prepared for us though it was simple.
We enjoyed good conversations during this small party. Boss even brought out the ‘Da Tou’ that he bought from Chinatown and started dancing alongside with the lion dance music which we played on DVD. Hahahaahahah….

Thank you, Boss for the kind invitation to your place.

Dinner Affair@Rochester Park

My boss initiated the dinner as he would like to try out new Italian restaurant and he kindly invited Linda and me to join him for this food inspection. I took this opportunity to suggest Da Paolo Bistro & Bar located at Rochester Park as I thought it would be a nice place for him to try out.

The distance from our office to Rochester was pretty tiring as the traffic during rush hours was such a pain! It took us about 45 minutes to reach our destination and despite the cool drizzling weather, we were seated comfortably right after we arrived.

Boss and Linda were impressed by the design of the restaurant as it was a colonial house that turns into a classy and cozy restaurant.

After browsing through the menu, I was given the green light to order the food while boss takes the wine list. For starters, I ordered the burratina with Parma Ham and the Squid Fritters. It was really delicious though the portion wasn’t as generous. For our pasta, we had the squid ink spaghetti and mushroom risotto. Both were pretty good… we noticed that the nearby table ordered a bowl of fries and being greedy, we too had the garlic fries which was heavenly!
The servings of the food were small and that left us with amber space for more food…. We decided to order the braised beef cheek which was tender and soft… thumps up! Lastly, we had the truffle pizza which was a WINNER! I had never tasted such delicious pizza before and this was the BEST! It seemed to be too much for three but amazingly, we wiped out all the food… and had space for desserts… haahahahaahah
To sum up the wonderful dinner, I ordered the baileys gelato which was totally out of this world! I was really impressed by the food here and I would rate this place a NINE out of TEN! Totally fantastic!
