Celebrating Gu-Jie’s Birthday

I am happy that we have this tradition to celebrate birthdays for our elders in our family and that is perhaps why our family is able to stay closed.

Today, we arranged a birthday celebration for our beloved Gu-Jie at our Gu-Jiong’s place as it’s always better to have home-cooked dinner than at the restaurants. As usual, our up & raising chef BG (my cousin) and Rosanna (uncle’s helper) whipped up a fantastic dinner for the family.
With all the practices and effort my cousin BG had put in, it turned out to be a pretty good spread. On my side, I could only prepare cake and desserts as I couldn’t find time to cook. L Perhaps I will compensate for CNY.

The cousins were extremely happy during this meet up and they couldn’t stop hugging each other till we commanded them as it was dinner time. They continued to play after dinner while the adults continued to enjoy the spread.
As we had to leave early for Lady Faith’s ballet coaching class, we had the cake cutting ceremony almost immediate after dinner. The kids were happy to sing their Gu-Por the birthday song and they even tried to help during the cake cutting. Happy that the kids cooperated to distribute the cakes and that allowed us to finish our portion before leaving.
Happy Blessed Birthday Gu-jie!! May the good Lord bless and watch over you always.

WTA

Hubby has been dreaming to attend any tennis tournament and finally we had a chance to go for one. Though this may not be any of those Grand Slams or Wimbledon but we are happy that we are able to go for this WTA.

After settling the kids with mum, we went to have our lunch and set off to Indoor Stadium for the match. I was equally excited to watch the tennis match for the first time as hubby and we were hoping that our seats are good.

When we arrived that the indoor stadium, there was already a crowd at the entrance and since we were early, I browsed through their items, I kind of like a few stuff from there. Hubby preferred to get stuff after the game and we proceed to our seats after getting our snacks for the match.

The first match was a semi-finals women doubles and I was really happy to watch once my favourite tennis player Martina Hingis playing in that court. I was keeping my fingers crossed for her but ultimately, the other pair was better and went through to the finals.

After 45 mins of break time, we went back for the singles semi-finals which were such an amazing and entertaining game where both players fought so hard to win the game. There were times when I almost got up my seat and wanted to hit the ball for the player though I have no clue who she was…

This is one fantastic experience for both of us and we are sure we will be back here again next year. J

The Rambutans Meet Up

Everyone is usually busy with their own stuff and it’s really hard to have everyone available to meet. We have tried to arrange a date many times and finally everyone is available! Woohoo!

I arrived at The Ship which is one of our favourite joint and very happy to see my friends seated happily browsing the menu. Well, I got to say that most of the food is nice in this restaurant especially their Sliced Fish Noodles where you have to pre-order when you make the reservation.

We ordered the salad and chicken wings to share and also our own mains. There are so many things I want to try or to have rather but stomach space is limited… sighz… finally, I decided to order their special baked lobster and sirloin steak which is available for today. It was very delicious though the lobster was slightly salty.
After dinner, we went for a stroll but ended up at Zara which was having a Sale. We went to shop on our own within the store but ended up doing stupid things when we gathered. Their winter wears were out and being silly and too filled, we tried them on and actually pretended that we were in winter countries … very funny indeed and we usually happy to self-entertaining.

As the night is still young, we decided to have coffee at 10 Scott but ended up ordering some cheese and bread with coffee. I would say that we never stop eating whenever we gathered. The environment was great at 10 Scott and chatting up till late night was one of those rare nights for me.
I thoroughly enjoyed the outing with my best buds and till the next gathering… good night girls!

Stayover

This would be one of the happiest moments for our kiddos as their favourite cousin Genevieve will be staying over at our place for 2 nights.

The moment she arrived at our place, the kiddos welcomed her with hugs and immediately led her to play with them at our living area. They were playing their play blocks and they were happy to have Gen to join them on their building.
It was indeed a rare opportunity for cousins to stayover at our place and if I would want to have more of such bonding sessions for them as much as possible. With them seeing more of each other will have stronger bonding among the cousins which I had been through when I was younger.

Lady Faith was happy to be sharing the guest room with Gen and I would say this is the first time for her to get into bed without anyone yelling! I went to check on them and found out that they were chatting in bed rather than sleeping.

Jana’s Confirmation

I am truly honoured when I asked by my best bud Bird to be her daughter’s God-ma. I remembered holding Jana in my arms when I visited her at Mount E. and she was so tiny then.

Today, I am sitting on the pews behind her witnessing her confirmation which is one of the important events in her life as a Catholic. I didn’t consider myself as a good Godparent as I did not manage to spend more time her and that made us quite distance. Despite that, she still regards me as her god-ma which I am thankful.
I was so excited for her when I walked with her towards the priest to get her anointing as a sign of her confirmation. After that beautiful moment, she is officially on her own as a grown Catholic. I am sure she will continue to practice her Faith and trust in the Lord.

Congratulations Jana! May the good Lord continue to bless, protect and watch over you always.

Halloween At USS

We mentioned about going to the Halloween party organized by USS but never make it there. This time, we are very serious about going and after knowing that there was discount when we book online, we did not hesitate and blocked the date quickly.

Since then, we were worried and scared though we are looking forward to this happening night out with the girls. We read through the reviews after their opening night and yes, it did look scary to us.

My imagination started to go haywire and it was somehow our topic during luncheon. We tried to check out with friends who went for this event and heard that it was quite scary for certain haunted houses. As days draw nearer, our fear level shot up!

TODAY IS THE DAY! THERE IS NO TURNING BACK! We headed down to Sentosa for our quick snack and started queuing at the entrance of USS. The gate will officially open at 7pm and we took some pictures to calm ourselves down before the scare!

When we entered USS after about 45mins of wait, we stood still watch their first performance which was quite entertaining. I was amazed by their make-up and they certainly looked weird and scary. We chose our route and went straight to the 1st haunted house… apparently one of the scariest one among the five.
There was a long queue and we made friends with 2 P6 girls along the way and they requested to join us as they were afraid. We welcomed them of course and put on a brave front but scared to hell on the inside… ahahahahahahaha…we heard screams from the haunted house and that somehow pumped up our heart!

It’s time to enter the unknown… I was laughing at Leng as she started screaming while we were in the queue nearing to the entrance and she was grabbing me throughout the trail… she too was flapping her handheld fan on my shoulder and with that, I was fearless… haahahahah… if that is not enough, as we walked, the two Js (Jessie & Jessica) who were walking ahead of us warned us about the ‘ghost’ ahead and what will be appearing on the sides… can anyone tell me how to AFRAID if there were so many clues and distraction around you…. Hahahahaahahah

I started to be so calm that I gave a high-five to the ghost crew whose hands were dangling from above and gave a thumps up to another lady ghost who tried to scare me from the side. I couldn’t scream at all but laughed my way out to the door. It was really hilarious thanks to my buddies… After we were out of the haunted house, we noticed that Sam Sam was injured. She told us that she had tripped over something while trying to avoid the ghost… poor girl.

We want to proceed to another haunted house but the queues were too painful to join. We had to wait at least 90 mins for each house so; we headed down to take rides instead. As we walked around the park, we passed through the open site where many free to roam ghost were around let you have a close encounter with them.

While I was looking at other ghosts, there was this silly lady ghost who came right infront of me and gave out a scream… I wasn’t afraid but was puzzled on what had happened… it was pretty much funny and we continued to roam the park.

Along the way, we saw many people rushing into the theatre and we went along too. We were glad to be able to get inside on time to watch this fantastic and amazing performance which gave me goosebumps. It was truly one of the best shows ever and it got us talking while we walked out. Thumps Up!

We heard that there was another performance at the main stage and we stood to watch. Well, it was good show and man… the girls were not only sexy but great singers. After the performance, we went to the souvenir shop to get some air-con as it was so hot outside. We browsed through some of the stuff sold in the shop and started to pick up some funny stuff to take pictures to entertain ourselves. It was hilarious!

We had a great night out to the USS on a Halloween Special and perhaps we will be back next year again… J

Dinner At OSO

We are happy to be invited to dine at Oso with Joycelyn after a long time. She is one very nice agent but currently friend to us and we try to catch up once in a while. She was so nice to pick us up at our office and sent us to the dinner venue.

When we arrived at OSO which has relocated to Oasia Hotel at Tanjong Pagar, the restaurant gave a more ‘high class’ feel compared to their old venue at Bukit Pasoh. I remembered dinning at their old venue was more casual though it was considered ‘FINE DINING’.

This is my first time visiting Oasia Hotel and it’s quite a pretty place I would say. Oso, located on the sheltered pool level and the interior was pretty much classy. We browsed through the menu and ordered some of our favourite dishes to share.

I was happy that they kept the food standard but the price was slightly higher than before. I personally liked the Angel Hair with crab meat, chilli, tomato and garlic whilst Leng preferred the Black Truffle Risotto. The rest of the dishes were good especially our blue cheese which was served with crackers…. SUPER YUMMY!

The dinner was great with not only good food but with great company. Thank you, Joycelyn for the wonderful evening.

Thank You ‘Jon Jon’

It came as a surprised when we received the resignation letter from Jon Jon a few ago and what was even more shocking was his last day with us will be today!

We did not have much time to react on his resignation but we quickly arranged a farewell lunch for him to thank him for his service. He has served our department well as our driver and we will be missing him after he leaves.

We went to lunch at Bali Thai located at Suntec City as it’s a halah restaurant. Saito-san gave him the green light to order any food he prefers and turned out we ordered food that could feed the whole village… haahahahahahaah…
It was indeed a nice lunch with him and only then, I really got to know him better in terms of what he was doing previously and what he will be doing after he leaves. I am really shocked to know that I have been working with a millionaire… that’s so cool!!! He told us about his business in Indonesia and one transaction will earn him millions of dollars… SHOCKING yea! I am really happy that he has chosen this path as my impression of him is more like a BOSS rather than a driver since day one.

Jon Jon, I would like to wish you every success in your business! Cheers!

Chill Out With Buddies

It’s always nice to take a break from work and chill with buddies once in a while. Today, we took ½ day leave and went for a sumptuous lunch at Irodori Japanese Restaurant located at Four Points by Sheraton. This restaurant is one of my favourite joint and I am happy to have brought my buddies over for luncheon.

As usual, we ordered many dishes as it was a-la-carte buffet. We ordered about 2 rounds of sashimi and many other tasty dishes to share and ate till we can’t fill our stomach anymore. Mmh… yes, money well spent indeed when it comes to food. Hahahahaahahah

Since it’s still early, we headed down to Wisma Atria for coffee but we ended up eating AGAIN! We ordered coffee & cheese tart set and continued our chat while waiting for Rie to join us with Mizuki (my God-daughter).

Though it was merely a half day catching up session, we had thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with good buddies’ company and of course the food which made us so DRUNK… hahaahahahah

Thank you buddies and till the next round… have a great evening!
