Italiano Here We Come!!

This would be our first girls’ night-out together and we decided to visit La Pizzaiola at Telok Ayer as it was the most convenient for all.

We went ahead to order the usual dishes as Belle has not tried them before. We ordered Burratina with Parma Ham, baked eggplant, linguini with ham & mushroom cream, mushroom risotto and our mains was the baby roast chicken.
She was somehow impressed with the food but I was pretty disappointed as the chef was away. Personally, I thought the outlet at Jalan Riang was way better than this one though it’s nearer to town and easier to access.
I am sure we will be meeting up often to try out more Italian food since we all enjoyed cheese…

Farewell Dinner For GM

When we received the news that our GM will be returning to Japan for his new assignment after 4 good years in SIN, we decided to plan a dinner with him. In fact, we wanted to have a party with him at his house but his residence was not available as Agnes occupied it with her seminar group.

We booked Pietrasanta Ristorante for our dinner instead and we wanted to give him the best as he is the BEST GM. We arrived at the restaurant and organized ourselves to the seat before GM arrived. As for me, I browsed through the menu to prepare what to order in case GM requested.
As expected, GM gave us the green light to order while he picked the wine. I went ahead to order some signature dishes and of course our favourite ones too. The food was great and it was served at the timely order where it gave us some time to digest and chat while the next dish was served. Perfecto!

We took the opportunity to have pictures taken with GM and some of us even tear when he gave us a hug… Yes, he seemed to dear to us and in fact, I can say that he is THE BEST!

As for desserts, we ordered some to share and it definitely made us very happy to end it with a sweet ending.
Thank you Yasuno GM for your wonderful and continuous support to us through your 4 years in SIN and you will definitely be missed dearly by all of us. We wish you all the very best in your new assignment!

Office Outing – River Safari

River Safari has become one of the latest attractions in Singapore and our company has the honor to one of the sponsor for the animals housed there. We sponsored the Jaguar which is one of the cool animals there and you will only get to view it on the river boat ride.

We were all set to leave for the event and our little one is all excited about seeing the Pandas again though we told her that she will get to see the Jaguar while cruising on the river boat ride. When we arrived at the event venue, we were given the priority to get on the river boat ride after the cheque presentation ceremony and speech by our Yasuno GM. This would be his final event as our GM for he will be leaving for Tokyo to start his new assignment in April.
We heard that the river boat ride took many to queue for hours but today, we are glad that we to ride without to queue. I was somehow looking forward to the ride as it wasn’t ready when we visited last year. Initially I thought it will be so cool to ride on it but it was quite a disappointment when it was briefly a boat ride travelling to some small tunnels where you are able to view the Jaguar through the glass window. There are other animals outdoors but the boat ride was too fast to catch a glimpse of each animal.

After the boat ride, we were given the free time to move around till lunch time. We brought Faith to check out her Pandas and man… she was so excited. We were lucky enough to catch both Kai Kai & Jia Jia in action. We too went to the aquarium to get some air-condition and took some rest.

Our lunch venue was at their function room on the lower level and it was a pity that there weren’t enough tables and chairs for everyone. With that limited chairs and tables, everyone sat on the floor and it reminded me of my days in school where we used to sit on the quadrangular during our recess.
Anyway, this is quite eventful and Faith enjoyed herself thoroughly as she got to see her Pandas and other interesting animals though this is our second visit to River Safari.

Belated Birthday Luncheon At Otto

Truly blessed with a wonderful boss who is someone enjoys celebrating every occasion with his staff. He wanted to plan for this celebration but had to travel on business so, we decided to have this luncheon today.

I was given the green light to choose the venue and I chose Otto. I have always wanted to revisit but no chance at all. Happy that boss is so sweet that he agreed to my choice without any hesitation.

We settled down quickly and boss started browsing through the wine list… I was surprised that he decided to order wine though it was lunch time… he said that this is a celebration and will not complete without good wine.
I went ahead to order the Burratina with Parma Ham, my favourite spaghetti with sea urchin and their one and only risotto with tomato served with burrata cheese and basil oil. The dishes were pretty good and out of all the dishes, Spaghetti with sea urchin is still best.
Somehow they noticed that we are celebrating my birthday, they served us a complimentary chocolate cake with candle. It was really sweet of them and that round up my several birthday celebrations this year.
Thank you, Boss & Yoyo for the wonderful lunch!

Gathering At The Tans’

The Tans’ kindly organized a gathering for the group as we did not get to meet during CNY and with that, we also took the opportunity to celebrate their son’s Ethan’s birthday in advance.

They prepared steamboat for dinner and man….the spread was fantastic! There were two types of soup base; laska and chicken soup. We prepared the food for the kiddos so that we can enjoy our adult dinner in peace later. hhahahaahahaah
It was a great and enjoyable gathering as usual where we got to sit around and chat the night away. While the ladies were having our own crazy conversation, the guys were chilling out at the balcony talking about holidays and cars…
We surprised Ethan with the birthday cake and we could see happiness written on his face when he saw the cake. Everyone joined in to sing him a birthday song though it was about 2 weeks before his actual birthday.
Thank you Theresa & Zen for having us to this wonderful occasion!

Happy Valentine’s Day

It is usual for restaurants to jack up their prices during on this occasion but we found out that our favourite restaurant did not have special menu with sky high price. We were more than happy to have our romantic dinner spent at La Pizzaiola.

It wasn’t as crowded as I had expected especially on such special occasion for lovers… we ordered our favourite dishes like the burratina with Parma Ham, squid inked risotto, linguini arrabbiata and baked spring chicken as our main.
Dinner was really good as usual and we did not have any space for desserts but we ordered their coffee as our desserts instead.
 Happy Valentine’s Day B…

Happy Birthday Romeo

We felt LOVED today on St. Valentine’s Day and we realized that it’s Matsuda-san’s birthday too. Agnes asked if we are interested to have a small celebration for him and without hesitation, we agreed.

Linda and I went out to get food for him from Boon Keng as we were craving for the Asam curry fish from that store. We ordered all our favourite dishes and include Yu Sheng for Lo Hei since it’s still within Chinese New Year.

Matsuda-san was really surprised by the food we prepared and happy at the same time that we planned this small party for him. We started off the luncheon with the auspicious Lo Hei where we tossed and had well wishes for each other.
It was a great lunch as we had time to chat with Matsuda-san over office issues and we needed his support. He was really warm and listened to our troubles and situation that we are facing though we know that there is very minimum things that he could do for us.

Anyway, Happy birthday Matsuda-san!

Happy Valentine’s Day Millenia Tower

It totally made my day when I was greeted by a warm smile with a stalk to pink rose this morning when I entered my office building.

The building management has kindly arranged two ladies at the entrance of the building giving out roses and chocolates to their office tenants on this lovely Valentine’s Day. The rose somehow made this Friday filled with Love.
When I arrived at the office, the ladies were all excited about the different colors of roses we received at the ground level. A stalk of rose really made the difference…
Guys, a bouquet will made a LOT DIFFERENT yea...

Beautiful Sky

I was greeted by this beautiful sight when I stepped out of my office tower this evening. It looked like a heart shape in the sky…. Simply beautiful!
Perhaps Heaven is greeting us an early Happy St. Valentine’s Day!

CNY Lo Hei & Valentine Party@Mandarin Orchard

We are honored to be invited to join this wonderful occasion organized by the sales team at Mandarin Orchard. This would be my first time joining such event during lunch as bosses were not around.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed by Yukie, our sales manager. She was cutely dressed up as a cupid to match the theme Valentine.
Lunch started slightly late and we had only about half hour to finish our food or stay rather. The first dish served was the Yu Sheng and I would say that was pretty tasty for hotel standard. It was too sweet and ingredients were fresh. Thumps Up!
Shortly after the Yu Sheng, our soup was served. Man… I enjoyed the soup very much as it was so good…. It was really good… not that I was hungry… the clock was ticking while we slurp down the soup and I finished my last dish which was the spicy fish in two mouthful though it was that pleasant but we were rushing back to office.
The luncheon party was not really suitable to our liking as we weren’t able to have our food in peace and we missed our desserts… Sighz…

Anyway, thank you Sato-san for having us to this wonderful event.

My Birthday Celebration

I have always enjoy celebrating other’s birthdays and when it’s my own, I am feeling somehow mixed especially this year when I am stepping into another level in my life…

Though today is my special day and with a significant number… I wanted it to simple and memorable. Hubby knew that I wanted something simple and took us to Pietro Restaurant for good dinner.

When we arrived at Pietro, it wasn’t that crowded as we were pretty early. After placing our orders, we noticed a familiar face near our table and it was Father James who used to serve at St. Anne’s Church. I was so happy to see him and I kept telling hubby that I would like to go over to get a blessing from him but he told me that I should not disturb…

Dinner was perfect as mum and Faith enjoyed the food we ordered. Mum simply enjoyed the risotto we ordered and she mentioned that it was tastier than the Italian restaurant we often visit. Faith was enjoying her cream sauce spaghetti while we had the squid inked spaghetti. We ordered their baked cod fish for the first time and it tasted fantastic!
As we were so stuffed after the full course, we could not find space for desserts but the guys at the restaurant kindly arranged a complimentary lava cake for me after realizing it’s my special day. I was really shy when they even get the people in the restaurant to sing along… hahaahahaha
When we were about to leave, Father James spoke and said that he thought we looked familiar to him. I took the opportunity to walk over to his table and had a little chat. Before bidding goodbye, I politely asked him to give me a birthday blessing and he did it without any hesitation. I felt truly blessed with this little blessing and I believed that saying… “Ask & You Shall Receive”…

Thank you my Lord for this blessed day with my family and for your blessings through your servant. You have made this day so wonderful and memorable as I have wanted it to be.

My Birthday Celebration With My Buddies

Today I will be stepping into another level in my life and I am happy that my colleagues or buddies in the office.

I went out to get lunch for them since boss is out of town. I went to get Yu Sheng from Chinatown since it’s still within the CNY period and it would be auspicious for me to do Lo Hei on my actual birthday.
Bought most of buddies’ favourite food for lunch and though it was a simple celebration, I was indeed blessed to celebrate my special day with people whom are dear to me.
Thank you pals for the ang pow and spending time with me during lunch! Cheers!

Lo Hei Party@Grand Park City Hall

We are honored to be invited for the CNY Lo Hei party at Grand Park City Hall by our super good Sales Manager, Jeremy. I would consider him as one of the few fantastic & generous hoteliers in the market.

When we arrived this evening, we joined some of the cocktails events before the dinner starts. We took some photos at the photo-taking corner; queued up for some Chinese calligraphy etc… it looked like the D&D for Grand Park staff…
Party started with a dragon dance and I thought it was too noisy for having this entertainment in an enclosed ballroom. In addition to that, I was somehow afraid of such entertainment during CNY. Sighz… anyway, it went on for a couple of minutes and we started the dinner with Lo Hei once the dragon dance segment ended.
The dishes prepared by the hotel were tasted not too bad. I kind of like their Yu Sheng which was pretty tasty. There was an entertainment segment by this funny lady whom she called herself ‘Dim Sum’. She was the same lady who performed at our D&D last year. She was really funny and though we knew her jokes, but it was still a good laugh.
Thank you Jeremy for having us to this fun party!

WOW!! It’s An Antique!

I was utterly surprised by Linda when she showed me the Super OLD Singapore notes. I must say that they are totally new to me as I have never seen those before.
These were one of those first or second generation Singapore Dollars back in those days. The best part of it was… she kept them so well that they are as new as the New Notes from the bank!!!

Birthday Surprise At In-Laws

After CNY visitation at Jessie’s place, we went to in-laws place for Loi Hei dinner. Hubby & I rushed down to pick my mum and bought dishes for dinner.

When we arrived, my cute niece Genevive told me that she has a surprise for me later. I was actually too tired to think as Faith was acting a little cranky due to lack of sleep. Everyone gathered at the dining table for the Lo Hei and the kiddos were excited about it as they enjoyed tossing the vegetables.

After dinner, indeed, I was surprised by the cake my sister-in-law Sheryl baked. It was so pretty and cute that I can’t bear to cut it. It was a small but super sweet celebration with the family and truly blessed to have such wonderful people whom I called FAMILY.
Faith was really excited about the cake and she was asking if she can cut the cake with me. Certainly happy to have her by my side for the cake cutting ceremony and the cake tasted delicious!

Thank you Sheryl for the beautiful cake and for the pleasant surprise!!!!

CNY Gathering At Jessie’s Place

It’s a yearly affair that we gathered at Jessie’s place during CNY as this would be one of the few occasion that we can meet our friends / ex-colleagues whom we hardly meet.
This is another occasion where we get to have our super belated X’mas gift exchange. We arrived during lunch time and it was only us as her relatives will be heading to her place later that afternoon. It was a wonderful to spend the afternoon catching up with old friends whom I hardly meet or speak due to our busy work schedule.

Though we don’t get to meet or communicate, we are happy that we always have a topic that we can chat on. Cariser & Sheryl’s kiddos grown so much that they are joining in to our conversation too and that made it more interesting to hear from their views on certain issues.

Thank you Neh for inviting us to your place for this wonderful gathering…. Cheers!

CNY Dinner With Boss

Since the new DH took over ADM Department, there is no longer bonding session within the department. However, I am proud to say that my new boss from Energy Dept., Yatomi-san is such a warm and nice man who is willing to keep watch over our neighbor.

He could see the terrible situation and happy to invite them to join CNY dinner with us. Since it’s a big group and he wanted to have KTV in the private room, we booked Spring Court which was the best choice.

This evening, we are happy to have Lo Hei dinner with him. We ordered the special set menu with Peng Cai included. Just as the dinner began, we put on the Lion Dance DVD just to get some CNY atmosphere as we tossed the Yu Sheng with good wishes. It was simply interesting and fun!

We drank red wine as our dinner was served and everyone enjoyed the chat as well as the lion dance show on TV. Yatomi-san also told us that he will try his best to look after everyone working under the monster. The other piece of sad news of the change of new GM made our day in office even harder.

Everyone enjoyed the good food that we chose especially the Peng Cai which was simply delicious! The rest of the dishes were tasty too. My personal favourite would be the Peng Cai, roast crispy chicken, broccoli with scallops and the glutinous rice.

This is one absolutely fantastic dinner gathering so far and I am truly blessed with such generous and warmed hearted boss.
Thank you Yatomi-san for the sumptuous dinner!
