Happy Birthday Aunty!

We were invited to celebrate my aunt’s birthday at Imperial Treasure located at Great World City last night. It was the 1st time for me to celebrate aunt’s birthday.

When we reached the restaurant, I was impressed by the décor, the lightings and the services. The waitresses were warmed and polite. Totally unlike the branch at Suntec; the waitress was lazy and rude during my visit with colleagues.

Anyway, back to the branch at Great World. My cousin Bick Guan decided to order the set menu instead of a-la-carte as the price is more worth it and food selection was good too. While we were waiting for our other cousins to arrive, we took some pictures.

The 1st dish, BBQ pork was served almost immediately after my cousin arrived after his fitness training at camp. Then the soup was served shortly. The soup was awesome; it was double boiled chicken with herbal and other seafood ingredients. It was so good that most of us had 2nd servings.

The main attraction in the set menu was the Roast Goose. It was said that the goose were specially flown in from Hong Kong. How true, we have no idea… but it certainly tasted very good, mmmh… well, almost as good as the ones we ate in Hong Kong. It brought back some sweet memories of our visit to Hong Kong definitely.

Before the desert was served, we had the cake ceremony… the carrot cake was delicious. The cake simply went well with the almond cream dessert and that completed the whole dinner.

Though it was a simple dinner but somehow we enjoyed ourselves. Guess it will be my turn to plan for my mum’s birthday next…

Beautiful Bali

Waking up on a beautiful sunny morning was a wonderful feeling especially when you are on holiday with your loved ones. We went out for a short walk at Kuta Beach where we were surrounded by locals. There were so many of them asking us to plait my hair, massage, manicure, and pedicure or even henna tattoo.

I had the intention to get my hair plaited, pedicure and even a massage but the henna tattoo is pretty interesting and I had that instead of massage. I chose the butterfly design to be done on my upper ankle as that was one of the best designs he had. It took only 3 minutes for him to finish and about 15 minutes to have it dry completely.

Once our driver arrived at our hotel, he brought us to a short seeing on the way to Tanah Lot where we can view the beautiful sunset. It was about an hour ride (traffic was quite bad) but we were on time.

Tanah Lot is one of the most sacred temples in Bali. It was said that each of the sea temples was to be within eyesight of the next so that they formed a chain along the south-western coast. At the base of the rocky island, poisonous sea snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. There is said to be one giant snake which also protects the temple which was known as the ‘White Snake’.

The temple itself is built on a small promontory which is only accessible at low tide. During high tide, the rock takes on the appearance of a large boat at sea, such is its shape.

Most tourists visit the place for shopping and the glimpse of the romantic sunset. I think it’s the best place to spend watching sunset with your loved ones.

Bali Here We Come

It’s been 2 years since I last visited Bali with my buddy Hairon. This time, I travelled with my beloved hubby and this is his 'virgin' trip to Bali.

We were onboard the Singapore Airlines on a hot Saturday afternoon and I have to tell you, SQ is no longer the ‘best’ airline. You might be wondering why or perhaps you have already heard so much horrible stories about their services.

Okay, 1st of all, the captain’s onboard our flight simply CANNOT make it. His ENGLAND was horrible and wasn’t professional at all. 2nd, the stewardess who were serving the meals on my side actually COUGH onto my coke and sneezed near it after changing my 1st cup! I demanded to change it again and she was apologetic about the incident. That should never happen on SQ flight or on any flights. If you unwell then stay home lah… why spread your bloody germs onboard!

3rd, the worst of all, the landing!!!! My goodness, though we are all excited about heading to Bali but there’s no need to land with a BANG lor… The landing of the plane was terrible and even the 2 Japanese ladies beside me thought it was a BOMB!!! Haaaahhhaahah….

After our arrival at Mercure Hotel Kuta, we headed out straight for some shopping and dinner at Bubba Gump. I have been to Bali for a couple of times and I led hubby to places that I have been and known. At Bubba Gum, hubby ordered cheese fries, his seafood linguini and mine’s the shrimp cream linguini.

Right after dinner, we went to do some shopping at Kuta Square and it was really crowded. The streets were filled with tourists from all over the world. Along the Kuta Square, there were many surf shops like Quick Sliver, Billabong, Rip Curl, Surfer Girl; Roxy etc… some items were on sale up to 70%. It’s definitely a shopping paradise for surfers.

Alphians’ Night Out

Alpha 11 is finally over and I have certainly made some wonderful friends. The music ministry planned a KTV night out together last night.

Emily kindly booked the KTV at Orchid Country Club as she is the member. We met up after work and I took ride on her Lexus (man… a cool car) for the 1st time and zoomed we left Centerpoint to Yishun. As usual, the ladies are always held up at the shopping mall where there were SALES going on.

By the time we reached OCC (Orchid Country Club), it was 8pm. Poor Philip was waiting alone at the café for a good ½ hour. We had dinner at the café near the golf course which was a pretty sight. Dinner was not too bad and we sat a little while longer to wait for the rest.

Patsy & Vee

About 9pm, the rest arrived and we went straight to the KTV room which had a view of the golf course. The room was big and it definitely could accommodate more than 10 pax. We were a group of 9. Philip & William decided to play billiard outside instead as they are not into singing.

We ordered our drinks and started to sing immediately (dun waste time)… I was then surprised by Margie’s snacks from Batam… she brought about 2 to 3 packets of different snacks and we were enjoying them. She refilled the peanuts which was served by the KTV with her own peanuts from Batam… hahaahahah.. so cute lor.

We took turns to sing and when Margie sang the song ‘Top of the World’ by Carpenters, we all started to dance instead. So funny man… I found out that Emily & Alvin sang very well for both Chinese & Hokkien songs. They were really good.

It was really a fun night out with the group and I am sure we will plan it again…

Final Alpha 11 Session

Time flies and we had our last Alpha 11 session today. I had so much fun serving in this 12 weeks Alpha 11 music ministry. Though we are only known as music ministry but it was all fun as we were able to make everyone participate in the worship.

I remembered that I was still so green about it during the 1st session and I was quite shy about singing in-front of a big crowd especially those people that I don’t know. By the 4th session, I was already having fun and even mingled with guests who were from my friend’s group.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Holy Spirit weekend which we had to sing lots of songs during the praying over and it’s sort of a medley thingy. The most wonderful experience I remembered was when I was touched by the Holy Spirit while singing. It was quite a challenge as we singers have to continue to sing even-though we were touched.

Though it was the last session for Alpha 11, we still had lots of fun and enjoying ourselves like we 1st started. We were talking and laughing at many topics while we were taking our dinner. Of course, photo sessions will never be missed whenever the camera is around….

We will be having our Post Alpha Gathering on the 26 June and it’s when I will see all my friends and familiar faces… come join us if you can…

Long Overdue Dinner

We were supposed to celebrate my God-daughter ah kang’s birthday in May but somehow everyone was busy then. Finally, we managed to meet up for a simple dinner tonight after a long delay.

It was a hot evening after work while we traveled down to Mohamed Sultan to meet ah Kangz… yes; we were slightly late due to the long wait for that stupid bus 195! When we reached the restaurant, I was thankful that I have made a reservation earlier today coz’ it was very crowded.

I booked Sangokushi, a Taiwanese Japanese restaurant located at Robertson Quay. I was recommended by my boss Minowa-san who brought us there for lunch. Their ramen is really good.

We waited for quite a while for our food to be served and later did we realize that they have served our food to another table! Man… we were pissed and informed them immediately. After a couple of minutes, our food was finally served.

Jessie ordered fried rice (as usual as she needs rice for energy), Kangz ordered their specialty ramen and rice. I ordered their specialty & my favourite beef ramen which was totally awesome. Both Jessie & Linda were happy with their food as it was delicious despite some serving error… hahaa…

After dinner, we adjourned to Laurent’s Café & Chocolate Bar which was just opposite and we managed to get a good seat as we were early. We ordered a chocolate soufflé and my favourite drink iced black forest. It was Jessie & Linda’s 1st time there and they enjoyed the chocolate soufflé very much.

The night ended early for me & Jessie as both of us were quite tired. I was heading to prepare myself for Euro 2008…

Lunch With Boss

Our boss Minowa-san invited us for lunch today and this time, he brought us to a Japanese restaurant around Club Street. He did not plan for Ramen this time.

‘Hachi’ means ‘Eight’ in Japanese is situated at a quiet corner of Club Street. I simply like the décor of the restaurant as its cozy both indoor and outdoor. The restaurant even has 3 private rooms and a few tables in alfresco style.

Smoking Area

Both Minowa-san & Linda ordered set lunch and I had their special daily set lunch which is the curry Katsu set. Most people are not really into Japanese curry coz’ they are not only starchy but they aren’t spicy too but I enjoyed it. Boss tried the sukiyaki beef set and Linda had the cod fish set.

Appetizers like salad were served and then followed by our main dish. The food was amazing awesome though they may look simple and normal. I kinda like the curry there coz’ it wasn’t as thick as I expected and was really tasty.

Our dessert was green-tea mint ice-cream and boy it was delicious!!! I am never a mint person but somehow this green-tea mint ice-cream made me craved for a 2nd serving… hehehe…

Well, this is one cool restaurant anyone could consider having either a romantic dinner under the stars or a causal dinner with friends.
