Healthy Lunch

Been having cravings for salads lately, not sure why but it’s not what you are thinking though I am wishing… I had salads for lunch on Wednesday and feeling SALAD again today, darling Angie & I decided to order Reload Caesar for lunch and a cup of Orange & Carrot juice.

Reload Salad is doing very well Millenia Walk despite their pricey salads. I have to say that their salads are great but not all though. I have tried 3 types of their salads but I think the best will be Reload Caesar; simply delicious!

Right after lunch, I don’t feel that healthy coz’ I caught a cold… man… thanks to my colleague who is sitting nearby. She was down with cold and been sneezing the whole morning; then she passed her flu virus to me and I ended up with a red nose. *sneeze* Oppss… excuse me!! Sighz… must be Halloween Virus!!! So EVIL!

I guess I will be fine tomorrow coz’ it’s All Saints’ Day! I am very sure I will be blessed to well… Amen!

Pre-Birthday Dinner

It’s sort of our annual birthday dates among my friends. Jessie & I arranged pre-birthday celebration for Sheryl & Cariser at Bugis. The weather was fine and quite cool after the rain in the afternoon and we decided to have steamboat.

We passed by a pretty crowded steamboat restaurant opposite Bugis Junction and decided to settle that for dinner. It was steamboat buffet inclusive of free flow of drinks and dessert. We ordered the steamboat with hot plate so that we can fry some mushrooms and eggs. It was awesome fun.

Once the table was set up, we went to choose our dishes and man… the place where the food was placed was really small and crowded. I was wondering why they can’t expand the place area! It was like a small lane where only 3 or 4 people could be there at one time. Yes, that was how narrow…

Anyway, we managed to get our food and started cooking. I have always enjoyed steamboat be it with friends or family. It’s really a great dinner gathering where you could talk and cook your food at the same time without leaving your table.

Though it’s buffet style but somehow we can’t eat as much as men!!! We left some space for dessert and man… the ice-cream dessert was great. I had rum & raisins and it was delicious. I was actually surprised to find rum & raisins ice-cream served at the buffet where it is usually rare.

I seriously had communication breakdown with the Chinese working there as I was asking for a spoon; the waiter was uttering some weird language which I couldn’t figure out. Later did I realize that it was ‘spoon’ in their language! Aiyo… how the hell I know! The waiter said this ‘piao gen’. It sounded vulgar and I checked with my friends and Sheryl told me that he meant ‘Tiao gen’ which meant for ‘spoon’! I seriously hate it when I couldn’t understand them!

After dinner, we went to Bugis Junction to take the sticker pictures where we did 10 years ago! It was really fun but expensive though. Those were the days when we only paid like $4 and we had 4 pictures printed out but now, it costs $8 & $11 to have your pictures printed out. However, we took the pictures and we simply loved it. They were gorgeous and mmmh… guess I will take it again perhaps with my friends. We even made a pact that we will take every 10 years… hahaha…

Nightmare@WORK!!!!

Been away for a week and my desk though seems clean when I returned to office this morning but many papers, folders & request forms were found in my trays.

It’s definitely awesome to be away from the office for a week but it’s like a war zone when I saw my desk… I took my time to clear some work in the morning before my boss came over to brief me on what happened while I was away.

In the late morning, I took some time out to finish up my business trip report. Boss told me to give him a simple account of what I did and who I met during the trip and I was glad that I had it written down during my free time in my hotel room.

After lunch, I tried to clear more paper work but somehow I can’t seem to finish them all. I was way too mentally tired and having seen so many things on my desk simply gave me a headache right away.

Not sure if I was still having this ‘Tokyo hangover’ but somehow I couldn’t concentrate at all. I guess I am missing the place and the people there… sighz… I was so upset over some issues and wrote to that someone to voice it out.. *sob sob*

I was looking at the clock and almost time to knock off but noticed that there were still loads of stuff to clear… I decided to leave them till tomorrow… I just have no mood to do anything…. Arrraggghhhh……

Overdue Dinner Gathering

It’s unusual for us to hang out with friends on weekends unless to wedding dinners but tonight it was all set for dinner with my pals.

Though I was still suffering from hangover … not the drinks from last night but the Japan trip... I was feeling pretty tired but was looking forward to the dinner with friends too. I was actually craving for Satays, Chicken Wings and Sambal Stingray man…

We arrived at Lau Pa Sat at around 7:15pm though we were supposed to meet at 7pm. But we were not the latest as Susan was stuck in Pula Ubin. We ordered the usual favourites like satay, chicken wings and the teh tarik. It was awesome man.

Susan finally arrived at around 8:20pm. We ordered more food; mee goreng and stingray. It was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed both the food and company.

Mmmh… we are planning for another outing next month and in the meantime, let me loose some weight before hand…

MC Chill-Out Session 2008

This is our 1st ever MC Chill-out session organized by the Sports Committee…. *drum roll*… I am very proud to be one of them. It was held at the most happening club in Singapore Zouk and we booked the whole Velvet Underground where it was roof to about 165 staff from MC and our dear subsidiaries.

The event was well arranged by my fellow committee members during my business trip to Japan. I was initially worried about the event but when I read all the emails correspondence from my committee members, I believed I could leave it to them. Thanks pals.

When I arrived at Velvet, I was really happy and excited to see all my colleagues already enjoying themselves with food and drinks though I was feeling extremely tired after a 7 hours flight. Everyone was already seated and they were happily chatting away. I went to greet GM as I was missing when he was giving the speech and thanking the Sports Committee for organizing this event.

Then our witty MC Patrick Ong started the 1st game for the night which was Limbo Rock. The crowd was really sporting and we managed to get some volunteers to come on stage. It was a mere short game but it sure brought lots of laughter. The night went on with lucky draws and beer drinking games for both men & women. It was indeed interesting and amazing how some of our own lady staff could drink that well. *Applauded*

Before calling it a night, the DJ put on the Mambo Jumbo music and everyone went crazy. Everyone was happily dancing on the dance floor as well as the platform. It was quite an eye opening scene where we could see some quiet bosses dancing on the platform like they are professional dancers. It was really fun to watch.

Overall, the night ended well and some were drunk as usual. We received good feedbacks on this event and many requested to have it again next year. I was really relieved and happy to know that it was a great success and hope we will chill again in 2009!

Goodbye Tokyo, Hello Singapore

I have finally come to the end of my business trip in Tokyo. This morning, I woke up early (as usual, didn’t really have much sleep last night) and did my final packing. Checked out of the hotel and took a slow walk to the train station to board the Narita Express.

I arrived earlier than expected and waited patiently for the train. It wasn’t crowded perhaps it was pretty early I guess. The train arrived promptly and I was seated near the baggage area which was really good as I had a huge luggie with me. An English man was really kind enough to help me with my luggage, really nice of him.

While I riding the train on the way to airport, I was already missing Tokyo. I recalled the places I have visited and the people I met; it was really quite an experience. With my MP3 was the best entertainment during my 56 minutes ride. I took quite a bit of pictures of other side of Tokyo while on the train and it was pretty good.

After checking-in, I did some last minute shopping at Narita Airport and man… there were so many things to buy… Yes, I bought some more cookies and souvenirs for family and friends. I enjoyed my shopping at the airport and I took a rest at the ANA lounge for the 1st time. It was nothing special but very quiet indeed; best place to rest.

Onboard the flight, I was enjoyed the movie ‘To Live & Die Hard’, it was fantastic. Not long after take off, passengers were approached to check their lunch preference. Man… it was really like fine dining in the air. Lunch was interesting, the table setting & the food were great.

The flight journey was about 7 hours and since I couldn’t sleep, I actually watched another movie but wasn’t really enjoying it though. To my surprise, I met Alan’s wife onboard. She was serving at the Business Class too but not the cabin I was in. We chatted for a while and she was really sweet. She even gave me a bag of goodies for my niece and nephew. Thanks so much.

Overall, I enjoyed onboard the A380 airbus and it was simply… A Great Way To FLY…
