January Babies Birthday Dinner

It’s a yearly affair that we will have a party for the January babies. Let me introduce the four January babies… they are Agnes, Katryne, Yoshiko & Yoyo.

We arranged the dinner at Spring Court where they served good food and what’s best; they gave us a private room where we can sing our hearts out! While waiting for the four heavenly queens to arrive, we were chilling out and checking our pre-ordered menu.
Our dishes were served shortly after they arrived. The restaurant manager was really nice to arrange a complimentary birthday buns for them as I mentioned to them that it was a birthday party for our dear colleagues. Then the cold dish was served followed by shark’s fin soup. We were enjoying the food and of course the music from the KTV system.
There was a free suckling pig as we ordered the menu which comes with it. The skin was crispy though slightly fatty but was tasty. The steam fish with black bean sauce was served and majority enjoyed the fish and yes, we finished the whole fish… including the head & tail. We have fish lovers in the house!

We changed the fried chicken to the roasted chicken which was one of their signature dishes. It was really nice and I would say this is one of my favourite besides the sweet & sour pork. Another dishes were broccoli with crab meat, pan fried prawns with salted egg and our favourite stir fried glutinous rice. That was really YUMMY!!!
While waiting for our dessert to be served, we took some group photos as usual and at the same time, we asked the waitress to prepare the birthday cake.

When all are ready, we had the cake cutting ceremony of course and the waitress kindly helped us to insert the birthday song to the KTV system so that we can all sing along! Hahahahaha…. We requested the four flowers to each blow off a candle and they did very well!
It was indeed an enjoyable dinner with the gang! Happy birthday to the four babies and wishing you guys good health & a joyous year ahead!

Site Inspection At Grand Park City Hall

Sales Manager in-charged of our company corporate account invited us to have a short tour around his hotel. As usual, I will gather some buddies to join the tour and dinner.

The hotel has been there for ages and in fact, I used to live on that piece of land which grounds the hotel now. The rooms are pretty nice refurnished and gave us a cozy & homely feel though the corridor was a little bit out of fashion…

We visited their ballroom too and the ladies love it. I have been there for many weddings and whenever I attended weddings there, it will always reminds me of my childhood days where I will looked out of the window waiting for the fire engines to drive out of the fire station.

After the short inspection, Jeremy brought us to Park Palace for dinner. He kindly arranged for a set menu where Yu Sheng & Peng Cai was included. Our first dish was the Yu Sheng which marked my 2nd for this CNY. The waitress said many good phrases while she prepared the Yu Sheng for us. After which, we tossed it with joy and we too said our own blessings!
Though I have attended wedding dinners in this hotel and enjoyed the Chinese food served during dinner, I have never dined at Park Palace. I am really impressed indeed. The food did not fail us at all but brought us enjoyment. I personally enjoyed the Peng Cai very much but it was too much for all of us to finish therefore, each of us managed to pack some home. The dessert, mango sago was very refreshing and tasty too.

Thank you Jeremy for having us tonight!

Buddies Birthday At La Pizzaiola

Theresa & I planned a birthday dinner for our buddies Vivian & Hairon today at our favourite Italian joint La Pizzaiola. We chose this restaurant as it is near where we live and the food is great! Both hubby & I were on leave and arrived at the restaurant early. Hubby also arranged dinner with his buddy in the same place but we were seated apart.

Vivian came to my rescue as I was alone waiting for my buddies to turn up but they were caught in a traffic jam. We were so hungry that we ordered some starters for ourselves while waiting. Finally when they arrived, we ordered more food…
When our food arrived, we finished each dish in a flash as we were so hungry that we can’t be bothered to chat… I noticed that the waiter did not stop serving food to our table and that I realized that we ordered quite a bit of food! There was Focaccia bread, Burratina with Parma ham, baked eggplant, Vegetarian Lasagne, squid ink risotto, squid ink pasta, Arrabiata pasta with seafood, the half tuna with onions and half Anchovies pizza! Our table were filled with food.
We did not waste any food but finished every bit of it. Vivian even had the Arrabiata pasta take away for her luncheon tomorrow… hahhahahaha… I had to leave early as little Faith was unwell; down with HFMD… my buddies continued their meal with delicious desserts like the freshly baked pear cake which is a must-have desserts and the hand-made carrot cake.
It was indeed an enjoyable birthday dinner spent with close buddies whom I know for ages!! Happy birthday my dearest pals and love you guys to bits!

Party Like A K-Pop

I received an invitation from our sales manager of Orchard Hotel to attend their party which will be held at their hotel. I realized that she only sent the invitation to me and since she mentioned that I can extend the invitation to some of my colleagues, I gladly extended it to a few close ones.

We arrived at Orchard Hotel and found out that the party was actually quite a huge one where they had the photo session during their pre-dinner cocktail. Our seats were assigned and our table mates were from Mitsui Chemicals. We were happy to know that Hossan Leong was the MC for the night and he was a witty and friendly chap.
At the start of the event after the opening speech from their General Manger, there was an opening dance by the team which was rather interesting. I wished that our staff in my office are as spotting! Our dinner was served shortly. Their first dish was the Yu Sheng and this marked my 1st Yu Sheng for 2013.

During the dinner, there was entertainment by Hossan Leong where he sang and played games. As usual, our group were in the World of our own, having fun and doing silly things.

During the lucky draw segment, I was surprised that my name was called and I won the Lion brand hamper which is the 16th prize. I was happy to have won that hamper as I noticed that many stuff can be used by little Faith. Yippy!! However, I was feeling rather troublesome of having to bring it back home as it was very HEAVY!

There was a surprise highlight during the dinner when the Korean pop star Jay Park walked into the ballroom with a bang. Everyone was cheering him and he seemed pretty friendly. When he was on the stage with Hossan, there were so many ladies trying to snap a picture of him with their phones and I was one of them too though I have totally no idea who Jay Park is!
His appearance was about 5 minutes but it definitely made the dinner a more interesting one. Following up, there were games and the prizes were a pair of tickets to his concert. I led Jessica up to stage for the game and she came back with a pair of tickets. Well done!

Linda & I left slightly early before the dinner ended as we wanted to avoid the taxi crowd. When we were at the lobby, we saw many young fans of Jay Park loitering and trying to get a glimpse of him. Linda & I were wondering if Jay Park is really that famous!

Thank you Orchard Hotel for inviting us to this wonderful and enjoyable event.

Dinner At Uncle’s Place

We were invited to have a dinner gathering at my uncle’s place. He wanted to have a bonding session as we do not meet them often but only once every year during Chinese New Year.

He did it in 2 occasions as his house is pretty small to accommodate all of us. My cousins had theirs during our holiday trip in HKG and today’s our session.

When we arrived at his place, I was happy to see some other aunties who were also invited to join dinner. They are the ones whom I know since I was a little girl. I was really happy that I was given an opportunity to dine with them as I did not have to chance to arrange.

Their helper Rozana was a great cook! She prepared so many dishes for us and I totally enjoyed her beef curry which was DELICIOUS! She also made us the wanton and vegetables Hong Kong style. We were all enjoying her dishes…
This is one enjoyable dinner gathering as it brought the family and family friends together. For a moment, I felt guilty for not organizing such gatherings in the past and I do hope I will treasure these gatherings as they don’t come often.

D&D Committee Celebratory Dinner

Our annual dinner and dance 2012 is finally over and we are happy that everyone enjoyed the event. It was really glad to know that the event was a success as we have put in hard work to plan this yearly event for our staff.

Our advisor Steven suggested a celebratory dinner with the committee members and we decided to dine at Imperial Treasures Super Peking Duck located at The Paragon. Right after work, Jessie & I left the office to do some shopping at Takashimaya since it is near our dinner place. I am glad to take the opportunity to shop at Taka as I seriously do not like to hang in Orchard due to the crowd.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we were surprised that they have given us a private room which we did not request. We sat down to discuss on the set menu and we had some dishes changed. The waitress attended to us was really nice and very friendly.

Our food was served timely and we enjoyed our appetizers with our wine. As there were no corkage charges for bringing in your own wines, we brought 4 bottles… just in case…our appetizers were drunken chicken, chilled vegetable, 3 eggs dish and the spicy jelly fish.
Next was the restaurant signature Peking duck. The duck was really nice especially the crispy skin! We requested our duck meat to be served instead of slicing it for noodles (in that way, we have an additional dish). Shortly, our shark’s fin was served. I would say their shark’s fin was extremely yummy… it was stirred fried and served with a separate bowl of soup. This would be my second time eating this dish and loving it…
The vegetable dish was not too bad but forgettable. It was pretty simple and taste was ordinary. However, I was shocked by the fish… I did not expect that they actually served the whole fish as a dish individually though the fish was not too big. For a person who does not fancy fish is a big thing!!! I had a hard time eating the fish though it was pretty tasty.
Before the noodle was served, we had their signature pork rib. The pork rib was sort of deep fried though no oily but it definitely did not taste like pork rib but pork belly instead. The meat was full of fats and not much meat to be found! Soon, it was the noodle with mushrooms. It tasted like normal mee pok dry like those you can buy from food court but slightly tastier… these last two dishes were pretty disappointing compared to their Peking duck, shark’s fin and the appetizers.
We waited quite a long time for our desserts to be served as they need to steam the buns. When it was served, almost everyone was happy with it. The steam bun though tasteless but it went very well if you combined it with the chilled coconut cubes. I thought it was delicious and something different from the rest.
It was certainly an enjoyable dinner with the committee and it was a pity that our Steven could not join us due to some personal matters to attend. I think we will return for another meal in the near future…

Belated Christmas Dinner

Everyone has been busy during the festive seasons and finally managed to find some time to meet with my friend Germaine. She is always so sweet to date me out for dinner or just for coffee but usually we only get to meet after festive seasons.

After checking out some restaurants at Raffles City, we finally decided to dine at Watami Japanese Restaurant as there were no queues and menu seemed good. We wanted to have some light meals initially but after browsing through the menu, we decided to take the set dinner for two. Hahhahaha…
The set menu includes salad, sashimi, bin bin don, beef sabu sabu, hot plate chicken cutlets, crispy fries and 2 drinks. This is the normal set menu for 2 which cost about $59 ++. Though the dishes weren’t too big but with so many different dishes, we thought it was too much for the both of us. All the dishes were great especially their Bin Bin Bab. This is my first try and I am in love with it. We thought we could still take in desserts but by the end of our meal, we decided to give up desserts…
It was an enjoyable ‘dinner date’ with my pal and though we do not meet often, we never seem to have drifted. There were so many things to catch up on each other’s life and it was great to be updated… *winks*

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone!

It is 2013! I can’t believe it’s already a brand new year! We just celebrated Christmas and today, we have entered the year of 2013. In no time, we will be celebrating CNY in a month’s time.

In the morning after our brunch, we were home entertaining Faith with her new kitchen set. She was really happy with the set but shepreferred to be waitress than the chef. She made us the chef and customers instead…

In the late afternoon, we went to my cousin’s place for a family gathering. They prepared shepherd’s pie, chicken & mushrooms crepes, fried bee hoon, pan fried prawns with onions and curry vegetables. The dishes were delicious especially the chicken & mushrooms crepe prepared by my cousin in law. THUMPS UP! We rounded off with the delicious chocolate cake from Awfully Chocolate of course and the cake was wiped out in a few minutes…
After dinner, we were sitting around the living area to discuss on our family trip. We have been talking about a family trip but never get down to it. We are planning for a short trip but cousin in law is not able to fly due to her pregnancy. Mmmh… guess we will continue the discussion during our Chinese New Year visitation.
Thank you cousin Ka Yun for inviting us to this wonderful family gathering! We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly especially Faith who enjoyed playing with Zoe jie jie.
