Faith Is 9 Months Old

My baby turns 9 Months today. Am I seeing things or is it just my imagination! I couldn’t believe it man…

She is getting naughtier each day as she grows though it can be quite entertaining at times. She has started to ‘race’ on her walker and learning many other stuff everyday. She is such a joy at times especially when you returned home after slogging in the office and she gave you a big smile when you entered your house… that is one fantastic feeling and all your thoughts about work are gone.

She enjoyed giving ‘Hi-Fives’ to most people she meets and that’s the way to start when you meet her la…. (KK, now you know how to communicate with your crush la!)

Happy 9 Months sweetheart!

St. Valentine’s Day With A Difference

It’s pretty usual to spend your valentine’s day either with your loved ones or with your best friend but I spent this day with our GM! Okay, don’t get me wrong, I spent it not only with GM but with the great 2010 D&D committee members too.

Our GM was grateful enough to invite us to dinner and we the humble ones, chose a nice and reasonable Chinese restaurant near Chinatown. After discussing with our ‘Food Director’ Ah Leng, we finally decided to have dinner at Spring Court.

We managed to get a private room despite the festive CNY period. The room was cozy and had a quite a good Karaoke system inside. We arrived early to wait for our GM and checked out the songs selections (in case GM wants to sing).

Our dinner started when GM arrived. We began with the Lo Hei and it was really fun to have everyone tossing the vegetables! Right after the Lo Hei, our delicious shark’s fin soup was served. The restaurant though not the ‘branded’ ones but they certainly served pretty good shark’s fin soup… that’s in my opinion.

The next dish was everyone’s favorite…. Suckling Pig. Man… it was really good… its skin was really crispy and meat was slightly fat but really yummy. I was surprised and pleased that our GM & DH enjoyed the dish very much.

Next were stir fried lobster, crispy roasted chicken, broccoli with scallops, braised vegetables with dry scallops (this was a free dish from the restaurant) and spinach with abalone. They were all yummy! My favorite was the crispy roasted chicken… that I have to say it’s their signature dish and man, they really lived up to it.

In the beginning, we found no topic to chat with our GM other than the D&D but we were thankful that there was a karaoke system there to entertain. We started to sing and GM began to join us. He is really one cool dude.

The noodle was great too but I preferred the e-fu noodles la… I enjoyed the dessert (yam paste) very much as it wasn’t too sweet and it was really smooth… totally heaven!

Thank you GM for the wonderful dinner and we totally enjoyed it.

Chinese New Year@Jessie’s Place

It’s a yearly affair that we will gather at Jessie’s place during Chinese New Year where everyone will meet.

This year, there is no exception. She moved to a new unit and it’s a penthouse opposite her own block. This time, she moved into a penthouse and her room is on the upper floor. Many friends & colleagues were there and it was a great gathering every year where we get to meet everyone under one roof.

Unfortunately this year Jessie had no time to cook… I missed her ‘Tung Hoon’ man… Ah Neh, if you are reading this… please cook for us if you have time hor… hahaahahah and after lunch, Jessie specially assigned a room as our ‘game room’…. it was just nice for a couple of us to hang there for a game or two…

Thank you Jessie for the invitation to your place and the food you prepared for us. *muaks*

My First Birthday With Faith

Last year today, I was still pregnant with Faith in my third trimester and today, I am holding this little one in my arms on my birthday! How time flies.

I felt extremely special this year during my birthday as it was a dream coming true to celebrate it with my little sweetheart. She may not know what’s happening but somehow the joy in my heart is overwhelming…

My buddies at work today celebrated my birthday for me and I bought them one of their favorite luncheon from Boon Keng. Though it was a simple lunch but we all enjoyed the Asam curry fish very much… YUMMY!

At about later afternoon, I was called to the meeting room for cake cutting ceremony. When I went to the room, it started to drizzle and then I suddenly noticed that there was a beautiful rainbow appearing right before my eyes. I was thrilled! It was the first time I witnessed a rainbow which formed into an arc across the bridge… it was a beautiful sight. What a great start to my birthday indeed!

My buddies bought me a pretty cake and they asked me to bring it home as everyone’s tummy was still heavy after the delicious lunch. Though it was a small affair in the office but I was surely thankful for their wonderful arrangements.

Hubby wanted to arrange dinner outside but I preferred to do it at home for this is my first birthday with the little one. I am not looking for something big but time spent with her will be the best gift.

Hubby then came home with my favorite ‘Sang Mee’, ‘Ah Gong’s Fan Su Ye’, ‘Sam Siew Chicken’ from Soup Rest. He didn’t have time to visit Chinatown for yusheng and he bought it from Soup Restaurant too. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the companion and I would day this is the best birthday celebration so far!

Thank you everyone who have prepare all the arrangements for my birthday and the warm birthday greetings. You have made my birthday a very special one. Cheers!

ADM Reunion Dinner 2011

This is the third year running for our Dept. Head Mr. Suganou to arrange Chinese New Year reunion dinner for us. He gave us the freedom to choose the restaurant and we have chosen Majestic Restaurant for a change.

Majestic Restaurant is the only restaurant in New Majestic Hotel. The cozy and arty boutique hotel’s lobby was filled with huge tables. It was the seventh day of Chinese New Year and it was an auspicious day… the restaurant was fully booked.

We were seated comfortably in a cozy private room away from the noisy crowd. In fact, we were the noisy ones too… hahaha…. We have pre-ordered the menu and man… it was indeed a great menu!

For starters, we had the Lo Hei with salmon & Hokkaido scallops. Though it wasn’t that traditional but somehow it tasted good. Next was everyone’s favorite – double boiled shark’s cartilage soup with shark’s fin. ULTRA YUMMY! Rie couldn’t make it as she was too busy preparing her up & coming conference. KK, you missed it! Anyway, we had an extra bowl of shark’s fin soup and we shared among us. Later did we found out that Suganou-san did not have any shark’s fin in his soup! He mentioned that there were only 2 tiny mushrooms and the clear soup in his bowl! *FAINT*

We immediately complaint to the waiter and we were compensated with another bowl of shark’s fin soup just for our boss. We were puzzled why he didn’t even notice there wasn’t any shark’s fin in his soup!!! SUPER BLUR!!!

The steam grouper with soya sauce was pretty tasty though it has never been my favorite. The next dish was baked boston lobster with egg yolks. It was yummy but man… super high cholesterol lor… but I finished it la…

Their ‘peng chai’ was very good. It wasn’t too big but just nice for party of 10. I thoroughly enjoyed the tendons & trotters which was extremely soft and tasty! The sauce for the peng chai was really perfect combination with white rice… Steam rice with Chinese sausage & preserved meat was next… the rice was fragrance though it was simple.

The dessert was one of the highlight for the dinner. Double-boiled bird’s nest with rock sugar. It was very delicious and we could really taste the bird’s nest. Finally, the layered durian nian gao was served. It was not too bad but I would prefer the durian fruit on its own.

Fantastic menu and we all had a heavy belly when we leave the restaurant…. Thank you Suganou-san for the great reunion dinner!
