Alex & Elicia's Wedding

I would say this is one of the most long waited weddings for me and my group of friends. Alex has been one of the funniest & nicest guy around. After a long 15 years of courtship, they finally tie the knot.

Hubby & I were really honored to be part of their special occasion. Their wedding was held at the beautifully decorated ballroom of Regent Singapore. There was a huge crowd when we arrived slightly before 8pm and I was really happy to meet my junior schoolmate. Man.... she is still looking as good as before... arrrrggghhh...

Initially we had problems with the table seating arrangements but were resolved after some discussion with the reception and my friends managed to be on the same table. The dinner started shortly after the newly-weds had their cake cutting ceremony on stage and man... the music selection was simply great! Hot mama was dancing to the music when the waiters / waitresses entered with our first dish!

Dinner went on as usual and no excuses for the groom on his big day! We prepared 15 glasses of red wine which represented their 15 years of courtship... when he came over to our table after sending off most of his guest, he was shocked by the number of glasses he has to drink! He bargained and finally we compromised that he finish at least 10 glasses... it wasn't easy as he had 4 more tables to deal with...

Congratulations Alex & Elicia and wishing you a blissful marriage. God bless both of you!

Luncheon Outing At Keppel Bay

It was another luncheon date with our boss Minowa-san and this time, he brought us to Keppel Bay Yacht club for lunch. He told us that it would be his first visit after reading about the place on the newspapers and hearing it through some of his clients.

When we arrived, the first thing we saw was the yachts. There was a restaurant on the lobby area and I bet it would be so comfortable just sitting there sipping on a cup of coffee facing the yachts. There weren’t many restaurants; in fact, only four outlets we believed.

We moved up to the second level where it housed TCC, Wine Bar and a Japanese Restaurant. Today, we dined at Takumi, the Japanese restaurant. They are popular for their BBQ items and teppanyaki.

As soon as we were seated, we browsed through the menu and ordered the ladies’ lunch which included free flow of soft drinks. As for boss, he had to order the normal set lunch which somehow did not include drinks but free flow of rice and miso soups…

Our salad was served shortly together with our drinks. I enjoyed the salad as I simply love the dressings… not sure what dressings but bet it was their in-house dressings. Then came the salmon sashimi… it was really yummy, extremely fresh.

The ladies’ main course was cod fish and man… awesome man! Boss ordered the steak and he said it was fantastic too. We had a choice of normal white rice or the Japanese mixed rice. I was rather curious about the Japanese mixed rice and yes, I ordered that. When served, the Japanese mixed rice looked like our Chinese fried glutinous rice and I was addicted at the first mouthful. Linda & I patiently waited for boss to finish his rice so that he could order the Japanese mixed rice for him and us (boss’ lunch includes free flow of rice and miso soup remember!!)

As for dessert, the ladies had pudding and Minowa-san had the sesame ice-cream & red bean. The set lunch for ladies was SD 35++ and man… for the quality of food and free flow of drinks, it wasn’t expensive at all.

Mmmh…. maybe I will take leave and have lunch there someday….hahhaahah

Double Bay

I was invited to dine with my close buddy Jessie to celebrate my birthday though it’s over! She brought me to the latest Australian Restaurant at City Hall. Double Bay is newly opened and today was our virgin visit though we passed by it everyday on our way to office.

It wasn’t crowded when we arrived as I guess we were pretty early for dinner. As soon as we were seated, I asked the waiter what was their specialty and I was told ‘FISH & CHIPS’. For a moment I was like… ‘WHAT?’ He explained that their fish & chips were different from others as they were cooked in a very special way.

When I browsed through the menu, almost everything involved FISH. Anyway, we decided to order a Caesar Salad to share. I ordered the Australian Barramundi while Jessie had Barred Cod; both with beer batter. Soon after, I ordered a house white wine to go with my fish and Jessie had her S.P.G… aka Lychee Martini… which tasted like cough syrup!!!

Caesar Salad was surprising sweet… plain and not as tasty as it looked. At a glance, our fish & chips looked really normal with those chunky fries and a touch of salad. I have to say that my Australian Barramundi was pretty good and unusual. The fish was not dry but tasted as if it was steamed. Jessie liked her Barred Cod (Grouper) too but she said that it was quite oily and she didn’t like the chunky fries…

We were so stuffed and didn’t have space for dessert which was such a pity. We are sure to be back for desserts soon. I kind of like the concept as it was really layback and comfortable. The interior décor was simple yet cozy. Mmmh…. will be planning for the next visit…

Thank you Ah Neh for the great dinner!!!

St. Valentine’s Day Dinner

Celebration on Valentine’s Day is usually extra costly as this will be the best day to earn extra bucks for both florist and restaurants.

We decided to celebrate it the day before to avoid all additional cost. I thought it would be more practical, in fact, I told hubby that it’s valentine’s day everyday if we want it to be…. Hahhaahaha…

Anyway, we went to our latest favorite hangout at Serangoon Gardens. It’s Buono again. We simply loved the environment, the food and the location is near to where we live. When we arrived, it wasn’t crowded at all perhaps it’s the eve of Valentine’s Day.

We ordered the Caesar Salad which tasted pretty good, Seafood Risotto and the famous cream sauce Buono pizza. We have tried this Buono pizza during New Year’s Eve and fell in love with it.

The ambience tonight was really quiet, cool and simply one of the best valentine celebration so far. I believed that no matter where you are, the companion is the most important part of the celebration.

Happy St. Valentine’s Day baby….
