Birthday Dinner For Our Boss

He is one of the bosses whom I enjoyed working for. My colleague Yoyo and I decided to buy our boss dinner as he will be celebrating his 59th birthday in August.

We brought him to Melben Seafood located at Toa Payoh as he would like to try out something different, something Singaporean… we browsed through their menu and decided to order some of their signature dishes like the crab noodle soup, homemade tofu, French beans with XO sauce and pork ribs. We enjoyed the dishes very much especially our boss. He was really happy about the dishes we ordered as he mentioned that this is something different from those foods he tried at those fine dining Chinese restaurants.
After the dinner, boss suggested to proceed to 2nd place for drinking. We obviously obliged and followed him to La Pizzaiola to satisfy his craving for red wine. We ordered the salad and the cheese platter to share. He was very contented and told us that he had a great time tonight.

Happy Birthday Soulmate

It’s my soulmate’s birthday and I have planned some celebration for him. We began the celebration with our favourite Sunday Brunch at Oscars. It was still the New Zealand theme brunch which we enjoyed very much the previous time. We had a big surprise from the staff of Oscars when they brought a birthday cake and sang hubby a birthday song. He was really shy about the whole arrangements but accepted it.

We headed out for some window shopping planning to get him a gift but he said that being with the family is the best gift ever.

I arranged a dinner celebration together with the family at La Pizzaiola, our favourite Italian Restaurant. He was happy to order all his favourite dishes to share and even Faith was enjoying the food. We were also surprised by the staff of the restaurant when they brought out a slice of cake for hubby…. I didn’t arrange for that but guess they overheard our conversation!

Though we were so stuffed after all day’s feast, we continued the traditional celebration at home as I bought him a cake to have a proper ceremony with his precious daughter. I believed of all the feast & celebration today, the traditional way will be his best as the birthday song was sang by his little angel.

Happy birthday Baby… wishing you a blessed birthday and we love you very much!

July Babies Celebration

The people whom I loved most in my life are celebrating their birthday in the same month and their dates are a day apart from each other. As such, we planned a big birthday party for them yearly.
We arranged dinner at Spring Court which is our family’s favourite restaurant (so to say) and we were happy that the staff had arranged us in a huge private room. The room was equipped with KTV system which we can use for as our own entertainment…
Initially, the kiddos were somehow afraid of hearing their own voice through the mic but after Genevieve started the ball rolling, they were snatching for mics after that. We put on the kids songs and guess what… we have some good performance from both Shevaun and Faith who sang along.
After our sumptuous dinner, the staff kindly assisted us to have the cake served for photo-taking and as well as birthday song. We gathered and the kiddos started singing the birthday songs using their mics. That was really interesting as in the past; we will play the birthday song and sang along with it.
Wishing my mum, my father-in-law & hubby a very blessed birthday. May all of you be blessed with HIS Love as he showers you with all HIS blessings!

Pre-Birthday Celebration For Mummy Dearest

We will be having family dinner to celebrate our July babies tomorrow and it coincide with my mum’s actual birthday. Therefore, we planned to celebrate with her tonight. We both bought her favourite dishes from different places… I bought some dishes from Putien while hubby bought some from Zhen Ji…it was though simple but guess it will work out well.
Our little one is very happy to know that we will be having birthday celebration for her grandma as she can have cakes tonight! After dinner, Faith reminded me to bring the birthday cake out as she can’t wait to see the cake and get a slice…
Happy birthday Mummy and we love you very much. May God bless you with good health always.

Linda’s Birthday Party

This year, Linda kindly organized a birthday party for herself at her home and we were honoured to be invited. I promised to bake her birthday cake as she was away on holiday with her sister in the US of A. I kept my promise and bake her chocolate fudge cake and brought it to her party.
She prepared a good spread of food for us (as usual) and her helper even made a separate portion of my favourite tom yum bee hoon just for me as she knows that I am a great fan of it. Most of them were my favourite… like ngoh hiang, grilled chicken wings, fish balls etc…
This party is not only a birthday party for Linda but also a wonderful gathering for people whom she called her friends instead of colleagues. Everyone was really happy to laugh, eat and gossiped about our bosses… hahaahahaahah
Happy birthday to my wonderful and witty partner in crime at work… Wishing you a great, blessed and HUAT birthday! May you soon tiok TOTO & 4D soon! Thank you very much for having us to this wonderful party!

Dinner With Boss At La Pizzaiola

I have wanted to bring my boss to my favorite Italian Restaurant and tonight is the night… Boss was somehow excited about the dinner as I told him that the food is really good. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were given the seats almost immediately. We browsed through the menu and I began to order all my favorite dishes as they are the ones I am confident of while my boss chose the wine. The dishes came slowly like the baked eggplant, burratina with Parma ham which was a hit for both my boss and Yoyo. For our pastas, I ordered squid ink risotto, spinach spaghetti with ham and mushroom on cream sauce & a mixed pizza. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and boss was really impressed and so was Yoyo.
We did not stop there… we continued to order the main course which was the beef cheek and we enjoyed it equally! They seemed to like the food I ordered very much and guess what, we cleared them all. As for desserts, we went for the pear tart and the lemon pie which was great too but I couldn’t swallow anymore…and we even had the pana cotta with compliments from the restaurant as boss ordered another 2 wines.
The food was totally great and I am really happy that both Yatomi-san & Yoyo enjoyed it as much as I did. I am sure we will be back again SOON!

Brunch At Oscars

Today, we went to Oscars for our Sunday Brunch and my mum was able to join for the first time. She wasn’t familiar with the food at brunch and was happy to find different types of food for a different.
Faith somehow enjoyed Oscars’ brunch especially the soup, biscuits and some delicious pastas they prepared for the day. For us, we enjoyed the food very much as this time, the theme was New Zealand… though it was similar to international cuisines but the taste was somehow different and I would say… more tasty! Thumps UP!!!

Birthday Dinner At Red House Seafood

After a relaxing staycation at Hard Rock Hotel, we celebrated mother in law’s birthday at Red House Seafood. It was somehow a quick decision to hold the birthday dinner there as this would be the first visit for the family.
When we arrived at the restaurant this evening, there was already a big crowd at the dining hall…they were tourists. We believed that their tour package must be pretty costly as their dinner package is at Red House! While waiting, I bumped into a friend whom I have not met for a long time… it was really great to see Yvonne & her family too…
Hubby decided the set menu and the food were served when the family gathered. The dishes were pretty good and everyone seemed happy with them. I personally liked the broccoli with abalone most as the broccoli was nicely cooked with crunch… little Faith enjoyed the noodles and she wanted to have 2nd serving.
After the refreshing mango desserts, the waitress brought our cake to the table and we started singing birthday song softly… we bought the durian cake as it was everyone’s favourite… the kiddos enjoyed the durian cake very much and some even asked for 2nd serving. As for Faith, she rejected the cake after her first mouth. Guess she did not enjoy durian as much as I do…
Happy birthday Mother and May you be blessed with good health always.

Chilling At RWS

After a tiring visit at USS yesterday, we decided to stay in the hotel today. We went for our breakfast this morning at Hard Rock Hotel Star CafĂ© and found out that there was a long queue with many tourists from Hong Kong. Hubby and I felt that we are in Hong Kong… We were given a seat near the buffet line and to be honest, the breakfast was quite a failure! The buffet spread was boring with the normal items and what put me off was the small bread toast area. Too many people queuing/waiting for their bread to be toasted at one time and others had to wait for their turn to get the bread from the trays. After our breakie, we got changed and went straight to the pool for the sun was calling out for us… Faith was really excited about going for a swim as she noticed that there was a water slide area for kiddos. This would be the best pool in a hotel by far! The area consists of a few different theme pools like, play area for the kids with waterslide; water play, man-made sand pool, pool bar and the length pool! This is simply fantastic! Hubby and I enjoyed the pool so much that we thought of skipping lunch and be here… we had fun swimming with Faith and she was all excited… (as usual) After our simple luncheon at Malaysian Food Street, we went back to our cozy room for an afternoon nap. That’s what’s holiday is for… Before heading to dinner, we walked around RWS and checked out some other areas which we have not been and finally, we decided to dine at Imperial Treasure since our little Faith requested to have noodles for dinner. The food served was pretty alright and price was somehow reasonable compared to those Italian and Chinese restaurants which probably will get your 'throat bleeding'.
As we were making our way back to the hotel, we came across some celebrities at the RWS theatre and realized that it was the premier for Adam’s Family. Some celebs were dressed like characters in the Adam’s Family which seemed pretty interesting. We got back to our room early and continue our desserts… since we bought Awfully Chocolate for Faith so, we have to finish it somehow. While watching the program on TV, Faith also munched on the chips we bought with her dad… simply beautiful bonding session…
It was overall a relaxing and wonderful day… Thumps Up RWS!

Visit To USS

This would be our second visit to USS as we are aware that they have added some new themes to the park. Our little miracle loves Elmo and the thought of her having fun and getting to see the monsters of Sesame Street will bring smiles to our faces.

We set off early this morning to beat the crowd and when we arrived at RWS, USS already filled with many tourists on a hot Wednesday. When we got into the park, it was not as crowded as what we thought as the queues for the rides were not as horrific as I imagined. We remembered the last time when we took Faith for the Madagascar ride; she started to cry when we entered the dark tunnel. This time, we tried the ride again and Faith enjoyed the ride thoroughly.
After the ride, we managed to catch the mascots after their performance. She was thrilled and went forward to pose with the penguins, hippo and Alex the lion. We continued our park tour and wanted to try Shrek but she refused as she voiced out that she is afraid and she wants to see Elmo.

As our journey continued, we stopped over at the Jurassic Park and Faith pointed out to the ‘dinosaur ride’. I took the ride with her and she was one brave girl… she noticed the ‘white’ button and pressed on it… I was rather surprised when our seat was raised… she felt excited about it and wanted to have it raised higher… actually… I was pretty frightened and told her not to press the white button… ‘PHEW’
As she was really eager to find Elmo, we went straight to Sesame Street theme and saw Cookie Monster mascot near the Sesame Street gift cart. She became really excited and ran towards it and gave it a big hug. We were happy that we were able to have a photo taken with Cookie Monster as that is one of my favourite characters too.
We checked out the show time and thought it will be good to return our lunch. The latest ride is the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase and it was a very family oriented ride. It was a slow roller coaster like ride where they will bring you through the street with all the characters greeting you and somehow made you feel like you are part of it. Very cool ride indeed.
After our luncheon, we walked around while waiting for the Sesame Street show to start. We tried to pass our time by heading back to take the Madagascar carousel. We certainly were early for the show as our little one was really excited about meeting Elmo. When the show finally began, Faith and many other kiddos stood up and started to call out for Elmo, Cookie Monsters, Ernie etc… for a moment, I thought I was at a concert!!!

When the show ended, Faith ran forward trying to hug Elmo but unfortunately, she couldn’t as there were many kids around him. Faith was really disappointed and kept asking if Elmo will be back again… when we told her that the show has ended, she refused to leave and was confident that Elmo will return to hug her… ‘GIDDS’… finally, I had to buy her Elmo whiteboard so that she agreed to leave…

We went to Hard Rock Hotel to check ourselves in as the normal check in time is 3pm. When we arrived at the lobby which is not too far from USS, there was a short queue for the guest checking in. I had an issue with the rates and it somehow delayed my time… but the front desk lady was really nice to offer us a late check-out…

Our room was pretty cool and the theme was Bee Gees. The room was cozy and quite a good size with a cool pool view and a day bed.

For dinner, we travel to Vivo City with the hotel pass and being Singaporean, we went to try out the new restaurant, Madam Kwan. We enjoyed the food at Madam Kwan when we visited KL and it was recommended by my buddy Theresa. The food was great and the price was reasonable in KL but it was totally overpriced in Singapore.

We ordered their signature nasi lemak which consists of a piece of chicken with curry, rice, cucumber, floss & chili… the taste was acceptable but price wasn’t. I ordered their hor fun as Faith preferred noodles over grains and it tasted alright but not fantastic. As for dessert, we ordered the gendol to share and we both agreed that this would be the most reasonable dish to order in that restaurant.

We both agreed that this would be our first and the last time we visit this restaurant as we did not enjoy the food, the service as well as the price in this restaurant. For that kind of price, I would rather get nasi lemak from Adam Road!

Gloomy Sky

I am happy that the haze is finally gone and we are seeing clear skies once again. Today, the weather has changed again… it was so gloomy and bet it will start to rain pretty soon. The weather is really strange and unpredictable these days…

Anyway, it’s good to have cooled weather rather than HOT…

Farewell Party For Darling Angela

Our dearest Angela will be leaving MC very soon and we planned a farewell party for her. Initially we planned to have Korean BBQ but due to time constrained of some of our members, we decided to hold it at The Beacon which is nearer to our office.

The Beacon which is a Restaurant & Bar served Italian food. When we arrived, there were already some tables filled with drinking patrons and we ordered our starters once we were seated. We ordered some finger food to share like chicken wings, potato wedges, beers, wines & calamari while waiting for the rest of the members to arrive.

When the whole group have arrived, we ordered our mains to share… pizzas, risotto, pastas and more chicken wings. I would say that the food was pretty good and price was reasonable. The squid ink risotto was really good surprisingly and I believed I will be back brining hubby next time.

It was a great dinner gathering chatting and laughing the night away before Agnes & Linda had to return to office to finish up some work. We decided to move to the sofa seats when Yoshiko & Ran had to leave for their appointments so that we can have more cosy seats since we will be expecting Linda to return later.
While waiting for Linda, we ordered more drinks as we enjoyed the ‘Live’ band performed by John Molina & the Kruger. I am really glad to know that till date, he sounded very good and performed well. I was able to have a word with him since we kind of know each other for a long time and bumping into him in church on almost every Saturday Sunset mass.

We continued to order more drinks when as my darling managed to get discount for the drinks and in total, she had about 7 pints of beer. It was an enjoyable night definitely but at the same time I was really sad that she is leaving us.

Darling, I wish you all the best on your new job and please keep in touch with us okie. I will miss you dearly too!
