Lunch@Snappers

Snappers Oh Snappers! It’s been a long time since I last dine at The Snappers, Ritz-Carlton. That is one fine restaurant where it’s located near the pool side and the ambience is great especially at night. Aiyo.. my boss even commented ‘today no sexy woman at the pool’.

It was a farewell lunch for our dear colleague Sayayo-san whose contract with our company ends next week. She has been a great colleague to work with as she is one intelligent lady with a great sense of humor. Soon she will be one of the ‘tai-tai’ you see in Orchard Road (though she claimed that she prefers to be ‘housewife’).

It was also a welcome lunch for our new young colleague Rie-san who just joined us yesterday. She is replacing Sayayo. She is pretty young and quite funny too. She is a Japanese-born Singaporean whose mother is Singaporean and father Japanese. To our surprised, she could understand Hokkien and speaks a little too. Quite a cool chick…

Anywayz… our lunch was good as usual when bosses are paying! It’s a three-course set lunch with an appetizer buffet (errrmm… though not a fantastic spread lor). Okie, as all of my friends who know me very well… my main course is none other than the medium rare Grilled Black Angus Beef Tenderloin with Petit Farcis and Germola Mustard. It’s awesome but the waiting time was a drag lor… took forever to serve my main dish man.
this is something similar of what Agnes had. Salmon Fish

Well… I have to tell you guyz… the dessert was simply fantastic! I ordered the Tiramisu and I gotta say that it’s so far the best that I have tasted lor… and thank God that we ordered while waiting for our main dish or I will not be in time writing this blog now. Hahahaah…

The service is casual but I think the kitchen is rather slow as it’s LUNCH TIME leh… how can they allow the guest to wait for about half an hour for their main dish! This is totally unacceptable despite the food tasted awesome.

Today’s lunch was enjoyable one overall as we had lots of laughter and it’s one of the best times to know our new colleague Rie-san better. Errmmm… looking forward to our next luncheon.

A Long Overdue Dinner Date

A dinner date with my God-brother ½ year late was finally accomplished last night. Both of us were busy with our own work and commitment and realized that the ‘date’ was really overdue. Somehow, we managed to fix and met up last night.

Our meeting venue was Tampines Mall (our usual meeting place as it’s convenient for us to head home). Together with Julia, we had dinner at Pasta Mania which was good and enjoyable especially the pastas there…

It has always been fun to dine with my God-brother as he is such a funny guy! With a great sense of humor, he never failed to make us laugh, at times at himself! Hahahaaha… When women power is concern, he usually loose out on conversation ‘fight’ hahahahaah which usually made us very happy!

After dinner, took on his ‘Pokemon’ car to Jalan Kayu for kopi. Aiyo.. my God-bro’s car huh… super MODIFIED lor… the car bonnet is of a different color from the car (like superman wearing his undies outside). It was really weird and told him that he has left his undies outside! Well, his car skirting was fine and nicely done. The ultimate… his car has 2 exhausts… cool la but one of them is fake lor… aiyo... I have to tell you lor... this bro of mine is damn funny la...

Honestly, I have never seen anyone’s car which has so many car kit accessories installed. I think the only thing that is missing from his car is curtains for his windows!!

Our kopi session was great as we sat and had our Dinosaurs drinks. My dinosaur holick was awesome man which is a must try for you people out there who haven’t. It was really fun having a dinner and kopi session with bro once in a while… (ooppsss... I think more like once in ½ year!) Hahahaaha…

L.O.V.E

LOVE is such a beautiful thing.

It’s never easy to find that special someone whom you probably are ready to give your heart to or to find someone who truly loves you. Love is self-sacrifice.

Loving someone takes such a great effort & courage as time, soul and your heart will be shared. When you love that special someone wholeheartedly, you will accept all his/her goodness, faults and will try hard to make this relationship last.

To love someone is to assist him/her through a difficulty, to provide with guidance & support, to aid him/her emotionally or spiritually. To be able to do that, it can be considered a great achievement in life.

To be loved is a wonderful thing. The love, attention and affections will be on you. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy, laughter and peace. Surprises will be added your in your life on a special occasion and at times, the silly things that you least expected will turn into something that you will remember for life. They may seem to be like the angel sent from God and like a prayer that was answered.

Love or be loved can be painful too when that special someone do or say something to bring the relationship to an end. Some walk away, some force you to take a stand or some even pick up a fight for no reason. When you know you have done your best, task fulfilled, it’s time to move on. Take it as a lesson coz’ you will have to put all that you’ve learnt on relationships of your life.

If a relationship can achieve ‘Love & Being Loved’, you have built a solid emotional foundation. With this solid foundation, it gives you a chance to learn more about each other in your lifetime.

It’s never too late to tell someone you love them as life is short, before you knew it, your time will be over.

To my loved ones & friends out there, allow me to tell you ‘I Love You!’ and thank you for being part of my life.

A Better Tomorrow

Fed-up with bosses, upset over bonus, received a better offer or tired of working are in the minds of some of my colleagues.

It came as a shock to me when I saw the announcements sent out by the HR dept yesterday. Receiving departure announcements of rotating staff in our company and resignations are common stuff. Somehow, yesterday was quite shocking. Let me explain why lah…

This year, we have a couple of Japanese rotating staff returning to Japan this year. To some it’s a good thing coz’ they may not be good bosses but to some, it’s sadness as they are good bosses. Whatever it is, when their time is up, they just have to leave.

I am not surprised to receive resignation announcement every year especially during this month coz’ it’s the month that we get our bonus and knowing our ‘worth’. Yesterday, there were the usual resignation announcements but it came one after another!!! Yes, you might have guessed it; there were 3 resignations this year.

From the Finance Dept. who have been here for more than 10 years. She is a fine lady and always willing to help even-though she is not in-charge of that particular matter. The other 2 are from the same dept. (Chemical Dept.) One worked in our company for about 20 years and the other is a couple of years.

It’s pretty sad to see friends leaving the company though they might be getting a better offer from the competitive society. Mmh... Dunno when I can throw that ‘white envelop’ to my boss one day and stay home to be Tai Tai... haahaa… *Dream*

'Serial Killer'

My friends called me a ‘Serial killer’….. You might be wondering why I was given that title by friends of mine.

Well... I am a great fan of Hong Kong Cantonese series and it became part of my hobby. Indeed, I enjoyed chasing the series when it’s really exciting and can’t wait to finish the whole show. I do have friends that shared the same hobby – watching Hong Kong Cantonese and at times, we even talked or discussed the drama when we meet or chat online. Hahaha…

My utmost record was watching 3 different dramas at one time… no, I don’t have 3 TVs at home or 3 DVD players. See, I will rent 3 different dramas and usually they are new so, they are limited. At times, I was able to rent like 2 DVD (3 episodes on each DVD). To make full use of my time at home, I will rent 3 different new dramas so I won’t run out of shows…

Recently, I have been watching this fantastic serial which titled ‘Heart of Greed’. I truly love this drama as it shows how evil one can when money is concern. This is one of the BEST drama series I have ever watched. Simply loved the storyline and they portrayed the good & the evil very well.

The drama is about a big family where the head of the house have 2 wives. Selling best abalones is their family business for ages and is well-known. Indeed, as much as you might guess, everyone will fight for the family’s wealth of HK$6 billion. Besides wealth, there is friendship and how things can turn around when love is involved.

During my holidays in Hong Kong, brought a couple of Hong Kong ‘kapoh’ magazines and found many good comments on the above drama I was talking about. Oh, though I can’t read Chinese but I do enjoy viewing those pictures taken by the paparazzi. They are really very interesting, in fact, they are far better than our local magazines. (Sad to say lah)

Watching series with family can be a form of enjoyment. It definitely provides you another topic to talk about with your family members over lunch or dinner if you do run of topics at times. You will be surprised to hear different views from your family members on the dramas… at least I do!

‘Serial Killer’ is indeed a perfect title for me la… coz’ at times, I would rather sit in the comfort of my sofa to ‘kill’ then to go out… hahahaa… don’t call police hor, I mean watching the dramas only…

I Love Hong Kong!

Sigh… my long wanted holiday is finally over and now I am back to work! It was indeed a great 1 week holiday in Hong Kong with hubby, spending some good quality time together after a long long time as he has been working hard.

Spending holidays in Hong Kong was simply perfect for us as both speaks their national language ‘Cantonese’ and we simply love the food there. I in particularly love their steam milk pudding and wished that those selling in Singapore were as good lor... but NOT. Since we are now in the topic of food, mmmh… let me tell you all, their steam boat is simply GREAT! The soup base was delicious and with a great choice range. From pork bones, mushrooms, herbal chicken and even Sichuan.

Those little stalls on the streets are the must try, especially their ‘smelly bean curd’. Yes, its super stink and you are able to smell it like a street away. What’s horrible about the smell is it will stick to your shirt, hair and even your skin! That’s how powerful!

Never dine in those high class restaurants in hotel as their food are not as good as those at the simple cafes, what we called the ‘Cha Zhan Ten’. Their steam pork rice, ice milk tea and egg tarts are to die for if you do visit those cafĂ©.

For sight-seeing, most people love to visit Ladies’ Market, Temple Street, The Peak, Star Ferry, and Tsim Sha Tsui etc... Yes, we visited too.

Time flies and it’s already OVER!! I would love to visit Hong Kong again soon but people out there who are planning… never go during the month of May, June & July as it’s really HOT. The weather will kill your mood of visiting places which you have planned coz’ it’s really uncomfortable walking in the killer sun and sweaty shirts!!!
