Gathering At Angela’s House

We are honoured to be invited to join the warm housing cum moon cake festival gathering at Angela’s new nest.

It was a cloudy afternoon when we arrived at her beautiful house. The apartment is quite new and very expensively located near Siglap area. When we reached a unit, we were truly taken by the view from her hall and how beautiful her place was. I was totally blown away by the private pool which is right at outside her ‘balcony’.
Her house was fantastically near the main pool and the gym was like a stone throw away! This is a total DREAM HOUSE man… I was so taken away by the surroundings that I forgotten that some of my friends were actually playing mahjoing in one of her rooms.

After greeting them, we brought Faith to the poolside to sit and hang out with Koko’s daughter. Faith seemed to be comfortable with Koko’s children. I was happy that she was able to mix around with jie jie & kor kor… while the kids went back to the house, Faith wanted to sit at the poolside to play water… and accidentally fell into the pool…Thank God it was only half the body was wet otherwise… we might have to leave asap…

After drying her, we thought it would be safer to stay in-door instead. We noticed that she was happily chilling out with the big sister & brother… sitting by their side checking what they were doing on their iphones.

We were happy that she was being friendly as she allowed the uncles & aunties to carry her at least for a couple of minutes. She enjoyed the gathering as much as we do.
Besides this beautiful apartment and it's surroundings, we also witnessed the largest dog...I would say that it was my very first time seeing such a HUGE dog!! Just a few steps away from their main door, their neighbour (ABC family) kept a HUGE dog... which I can't even recall the breed... it did not seem to be big when it was lying down on the floor but when we walked near to the house talking to the owner, it suddenly stood up and man... I thought it was a horse that they kept!!!
Thank you Angela for your warm invitation & hospitality!

Moon Cake Festival

Wanted to bring Faith down for a lantern walk about but after checking the situation at void deck and the playground, we decided stay at home.

Hubby saw many kids playing ‘fire works’ at the playground and it was kind of smoky due to the ‘fire works’. Most of them are kiddos around the ages of 7-13. Though there were some children around Faith’s age but hubby thought it was too dangerous…

So, in order not to deprive her of celebrating this festival, I decided to switch off all the lights in the house and lighted up her lantern. She was overjoyed and started her own ‘walk about’ around the house. She started from the hall and walked to the kitchen, the rooms and then finally she waved at her ‘friends’ (stuffed toys) on the side sofa.

Though she did not manage to hang out with the other kids but we were glad that she enjoyed the walk about in the house…

Our Little Aunty!

Whenever we go for grocery shopping, our little Faith would want to share our burden on our ‘damages’. Most of the time, we will tell her that the stuff we brought are too heavy for her but this time, she insisted that she wanted to help.

We sort of re-packed some of the stuff we bought and handled the lightest bag. She was overjoyed and she told it very seriously! She acted as if it was so heavy that she put the plastic bag over her shoulder and gave out a ‘sigh’ as she walked towards our home.

While I was following behind her, I asked her if she is doing well and she replied ‘I can mama, Tabi is hold-ding bag bag’ and gave out another ‘sigh’… I totally GIDDS!

When we arrived home, she put the bag on the kitchen floor and happily smiled at me. She wanted to continue helping us to unpack the stuff but we stopped her of course as there were eggs and other stuff in the bags…

That’s our little kind helper at home…*winks*

Ismail’s Daughter’s Wedding Party

I enjoyed attending Malay weddings as most of their foods are home-cooked and extremely YUMMY! We are honoured to be invited to witness this beautiful matrimony by my colleague, Ismail who is marrying off his eldest daughter.

When we reached the wedding venue, it was already very crowded and seated at the VIP table were our Yasuno GM, my boss and Suganou-san. They were there earlier to witness the arrival of the bride.

We sat down with my other colleagues at the other VIP table as we were too shy to dine with our bosses. Our tables had very good view of the whole ceremony and it was really nice to know how their wedding culture where the newly wed will kiss their parents hands as a gesture of ‘Thanks’.

Unfortunately, I had to leave after taking a quick bite as our little one became cranky due to lack of beauty nap though I would like to stay a little longer.

Thank you Ismail for having us for this wonderful occasion! Congratulations once again!

Happy Birthday ‘Ah Kong’ In Advance

Our ‘Ah Kong’ birthday is around the corner and initially we planned to get him a birthday cake but in the end, colleagues suggested that I bake him a cake instead.

At first, I was not too comfortable but still went ahead with it since he is such a nice ‘Ah Kong’ so, he is worth it la.

I baked it last afternoon and I found the outlook of the cake rather ugly so, I decided to add some colours to the chocolate icing. I sprinkled some stars over the cake to make it looked slightly better since I failed to have the strawberries stayed firm on the cake!

I brought it to office this morning and showed Koko (secretary to Ah Kong) and she thought it was alright which really made me felt comforted! After lunch, she kindly arranged a very short time for us to present the cake to him.

Leng & I brought the cake with the company of Koko of course… and yes, Ah Kong was surprised and he was very warmed to welcome us to take pictures with him. So sweet!
Happy Birthday Ah Kong and wishing you good health always.

Chocolate Fudge Cake

My little Faith requested for cake on Friday night out of the blue after her dinner and I told her that I will buy for her on Saturday when I go for grocery shopping. To my surprise, she wanted me to bake a cake instead of buying.

This morning, I went out to my favourite hangout Phoon Huat to get the stuff for a chocolate cake since it was requested by my little angel. I wished I could spend more time there but I had to rush home to bake the cake and then prepare to go in-law’s place later in the evening.

When I got home, I was happy that I had some peaceful time to bake while Faith was taking her beauty nap. My cake was ready before she got up and when she saw the cake on the table while I was icing it, she happily said “Tabi cut cake!” hahaahahahaah

I sliced some of the cakes for my in-laws and this time, I tried to decorate each of the cake with strawberries and it turned out not too bad at all.

The happiest thing is when you find your daughter enjoying the cake you baked and wanted more servings… that is truly a wonderful feeling.

Tricia’s Birthday Dinner

Our dear beautiful friend Tricia invited us to her birthday dinner gathering today and to me, it was an honour to be part of it. She brought us to Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck located at Paragon Shopping Mall.

As the reservation time for dinner was 8pm, we went to chill at the café opposite the restaurant chatting and enjoying our coffee. I enjoyed spending some casual time with friends as I do not get to do that often.
It was my first visit to Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck (in fact, never heard of this till today). When we entered the restaurant, it gave me a very ‘EXPENSIVE’ and high class feel and indeed, the restaurant was really classy. However, the whole atmosphere was spoilt by our neighbour table as they were loud, irritating and super disgusting! They are locals but perhaps some fellows who work with the media or celebrities. Anyway… BIG DEAL!

Back to our sumptuous dinner which Tricia kindly ordered... She ordered the Peking Duck of course as we were here for that. Besides the duck, there was broccoli with scallops, mayo prawns, stir fried beef with spring onions and a cool vegetable which was totally new to me.

She had the duck sliced to small pieces instead of the usual having the meat to be fried with noodles. It was really GOOD! I would say it was my first time eating the Peking duck meat as we usually have the skin and then noodles with the duck meat. I thought this was really good as we were able to witness that the meat were there… haaa… rather than having the noodle with very little duck sliced meat…

I am really impressed by the dishes she ordered and I guess I will be brining my family down to try soon.
Thank you Tricia for the wonderful dinner and wishing you a very Happy Blessed Birthday!

My Silly Colleagues

It is known to everyone that our office can be very freezing cold especially during rainy days. My colleague Yoyo who is always feeling cold be it sunny or rainy days. She is always wearing about 4 layers of sweaters! YES… it’s FOUR LAYERS!

Anyway, though it was not raining outside today but the office was somehow on a lower temperature than usual. Yoyo mentioned that she was feeling cold and Jessica handled her a thick jacket to put on. Apart from the jacket, we dolled her up with her shawl to keep her even warmer.

As usual, they became mad when all the CATS are not around…hahahaahahahah

Chocolate Fudge Cake

Everyone knows that I am totally no fan of Chocolate but funny how, people around me just simply LOVE chocolates. I guess I can’t be selfish and plan to learn how to bake cakes that does not involve chocolates.

Well, I decided to make a change and attempt to bake chocolate cake this time. I searched for good recipes on chocolate cake and I chanced upon this recipe for Chocolate Fudge Cake. The picture looked so delicious and I though I might take up the challenge someday.

Brought mum to Chinese doctor this morning as my mum was suffering from backache for a couple days but kept quiet about it. Yes, trying to act hero as usual but her pain was giving her problem and finally she admitted when I questioned. Without any hesitation, I took a day’s leave to send her for checkup at Tiong Bahru which she proposed.

After seeing the Sin Sey, she told me that she felt so much better and I was relieved. On our way home, she was asked me to return to office since it was still pretty early. Of course, I refused coz I wouldn’t know what stun she will perform when I am not at home.

Then, she somehow requested me to bake since I am SO free at home!!! Well, I thought about it and since she wanted to have some cakes for tea, I went out to get the ingredients for baking as she wanted Chocolate Cake after trying the choc cup cake my sis-in-law made a week ago.

I started baking after lunch and it took me about one and half hour for the whole process. The cake baking is simple coz’ it’s sponge cake recipe but the chocolate icing is a real headache and MESS! As I am using the mixer without cover, all the cocoa powder and milk started to splash out the moment it was switched on… my t-shirt was covered with some chocolate fudge which was actually quite disgusting.

After all the drama in the kitchen, the whole cake baking was over and I would say that the whole cake turned out to be quite alright. My family enjoyed the cake especially Faith who was supposed to share with her papa but finished the whole piece instead.

Will be bringing the rest of it to office tomorrow for my dearest buds…

Hari Raya Visiting

Our dear friend Hairon invited us to her place for Hari Raya gathering and of course we gladly accepted the invitation as this opportunity does not come yearly!

When we arrived, Theresa & family are already there waiting for us while munching the goodies on the coffee table. We started eating the goodies almost immediately after we were seated around the coffee table as they looked too good to resist.

Hairon then asked us to gather at the dinning table for our lunch and man… I was really happy to see that her mum prepared fried chicken and lotong with the chili quail eggs… YUMS

As usual, after a sumptuous lunch, we like to ‘nua’ around the cozy corner. We continued to attack the goodies on the coffee table as our desserts, chatting and of course, taking photos. We don’t get to visit Hairon’s place very often therefore, there is a need to take the pix as a keepsake.

It was indeed an enjoyable afternoon spent with buddies and we would like to thank Hairon’s parents and Hairon for their warm invitation to their cozy house.

Selamat Hari Raya once again!
