Dinner Gathering

It was supposed to be post and pre birthday celebrations but somehow it ended up a great dinner gathering instead as one of our dear friends did not turn up AGAIN!

We went to En Japanese Restaurant at Mohamad Sultan for dinner. Theresa booked the tatami style seats for us and the place was really cozy and nice. The food we ordered was simply delicious though the price wasn’t that cheap. Overall, it was quite reasonable la… coz’ the food was really good. Will probably go there again with hubby…

Though we did not ordered the whole menu but somehow it was enough to fill all. As usual, being greedy, we went to satisfy our sweet tooth at Laurent’s Café & Chocolate Bar, Robertson Quay. When we reached there, it was very crowded though at around 10ish in the night. Yes, the night is still very young on a Friday night. We ordered 2 Chocolate Soufflé and a Rum & Raisins Soufflé. Man… those 3 ordered made us waited for ½ hour but it’s all worth the wait as it tasted like heaven! The Chocolate Soufflé comes with a small pitcher of dark chocolate sauce and a small glass of Raspberry sorbet. It was indeed a perfect combination.

Last night, we really made history… 6 of us managed to squeeze in our dear friends Marion’s Mini Copper. It was an unforgettable ride from Mohamad Sultan to Zouk. Though we were not that small size but somehow we managed to squeeze in… it’s simply amazing. When we arrived at Zouk, it was crowded (that is pretty usual).

It has been a long long time since our group has partied together. Those were the days when we used to meet there without knowing what time to meet but somehow managed to find each other. The party crowd has changed quite a bit as time goes by and fashion sense too. We might felt out of place as we saw some younger people really dressed to KILL… I mean really MURDER! The music was great as usual and we enjoyed ourselves not only the dancing but also laughing at those people that tried so hard to DANCE.

Anyway, it was quite a night out with the girls and bet we’ll be doing it again sometime…

Last Day For ‘Lo Hei’

Time flies and we have come to the end of the Chinese New Year season. Today, it’s the 15th day of Chinese New Year and also St. Valentine’s Day on the Chinese calendar.

Linda invited us for dinner at her favorite eatery Xiang Xiang located at Boon Keng Road which indeed served very good food at a super reasonable price. She kindly ordered the dishes in advance so that we do not need to wait too long for the food to be served as she foresees that it will be very crowded.

The 1st dish of course if the Yu Sheng and though it was a normal kopitam, surprising we were quite soft during the ‘lo hei’… it was delicious and all best wishes were mentioned. The followed up dishes were vegetables, prawn paste chicken, curry fish head, pan fried prawn etc.

Time passed extremely fast when you are enjoying dinner with your friends and after an hour or so, we finished all the food on the table except the lonely pan fried prawn which we tried but somehow everyone is already too stuffed!

Checking what hubby would like to have for dinner

While we were waiting for my take-away order for hubby, as usual, we did some silly things at the car park just outside the coffee shop. There laughing at ourselves and our pictures taken. It was simply an enjoyable night with my friends.

Thank you Leng for the wonderful dinner.

Reunion Dinner

Reunion dinner has always been my favorite part of the Chinese New Year celebrations where you get to dine as a family.

In the past, my family usually prepares all the food for steamboat at home which is usually the best but this year, we decided to dine out instead. Yes, for a change you might say and moreover, it will be too hard for my mother-in-law to prepare everything by herself.

Therefore, we decided to settle with Fujian cuisine at Beng Thin Hoon Kee Restaurant located at 5th Floor OCBC Center. Interestingly, although it is located right at the heart of the business district, not many people know of its existence, that because it is located within the carpark of the OCBC building and can only be reached driving up.

The place is not 'WOW' decorated but a very simple and plain interior. We have prepared ordered the Chinese New Year reunion set dinner. The 1st dish of course is ‘Yu-sheng’ which replaced the normal cold-dish. The 2nd dish is soup and it’s my favourite, Fish Maw Soup. Man… it’s simply delicious. The rest of the dishes were just as good. Heheheeheh….

Though we may not celebrate at home but what matters most is we had dinner with the family. It’s still enjoyable but to me, reunion dinner will be best done at the comfort of our own home as you need not worry about how you eat and the way you sit… haaaa…. Just simply COMFORT.

Simple Outing

Chinese New Year is approaching and dinning with friends is one of the enjoyable things I love to do.
Getting Ready
Rie & Vee

Earlier this evening, I had a great time dinning with my colleagues at Dian Xiao Er (Marina Square branch). It was a simple but enjoyable dinner indeed. Philip ordered the entire specialty like Ten Wonder Roast Duck, Fried Rice, Mongolian Pork Ribs, and Sliced Fish & Four Seasons Beans. They were such great choice indeed and all dishes were cleared.

Initially, Philip thought there were Ten Ginger Roast Duck!! Nay… I read out the 3 different types of Duck available on the menu; Herbal Duck, Ten Wonder & Wild Ginseng Roast Duck and we have no idea where Philip heard Ten Ginger! We had a great laugh. However, he managed to order the correct Ten Wonder Herbal Roast Duck or else we will have to drown ourselves in GINGER!

Desserts at Dian Xiao Er were not that interesting and we already planned to have fondue at Haagen Dazs. We adjourned to The Esplanade for our desserts. Haagen Dazs it was.

As usual, we took some silly pictures while waiting for our fondue to be served. Angie was excited about taking some funny and silly pictures and somehow she managed to get us into doing so… just simply magical lor…

ATTACK it was as soon as our fondue was served. Though the fondue was small but it was more than enough to feed 5 of us. There were 14 small scoops of ice-cream of 4 different flavors and some fruits, and cookies, we added our own marshmallows (which was given to me by Angie)…. We enjoyed the extra marshmallows and certainly added some excitement when we had to bring it out discreetly.

We ended out night young and all left separately. It was an enjoyable time with all of you and thank you for the wondering evening…

Cheers!
