A Date With Birthday Boy

I took ½ day to be with hubby as it's his birthday today. He picked me up around 2pm and we went shopping at VivoCity. We browsed around for his handphone as it’s time for him to change one.

We finally found one that we both liked and decided to get it right away. However, it was only available at Parkway so, we went all the way to get it. It’s been ages since we shopped at Parkway and that place has changed so much.

Time passed so fast when you’re enjoying yourself. I have made reservation at a restaurant in Kallang Leisure Park and that is the place where we used to have Thai food back then. Hubby was surprised that we are heading there for dinner as Kallang Leisure reopened not too long ago. When we arrived, the mall was still partially empty and was not crowded too.

Anyway, we dined at Rosti (Casual Italian) which I saw on Jamie’s blog. The restaurant is simple, cozy and really casual. We browsed through the menu and man… it took us about 15 minutes to decide as there are quite a bit of our favourite dish we would like to order but… it’s only the 2 of us, so… we need to rethink.


Hubby ordered his favourite Al’ Amatriciana, Carbonara for myself and one Rosti with sour cream to share. The portion served is just right for us. Hubby enjoyed his pasta very much as he said that it’s almost as good as eating at Pasta Fresca. My Carbonara was great too man… with generous serving of mushroom and bacons… awesome.

I enjoyed the pasta and rosti, very delicious indeed. We had Profiteroles for desserts and it was awesome. I am definitely not a lover for chocolates but this is VERY acceptable for me… hehehee… great!

Mummy’s Birthday Dinner

It is my mummy dearest’s birthday today and I have arranged family dinner at Hillman Restaurant.
I invited my cousins and aunties to join the dinner celebration as I love family gathering or dinners. Mum & I arrived earlier as we were the host; moreover, I had the cake with me. As my cousins have not been to this restaurant, I decided to order some of their popular dishes for them to try.

At about 7:30pm, my family arrived and started to chat and mummy received warmest birthday wishes and greetings from my cousins. The food was served shortly and my cousins enjoyed the food very much as it was their 1st visit and were happy to know the restaurant.


Of course, my personal favourite dish would be the ‘Happy Beancurd’. It’s simply delicious and it surprised my mum coz’ I was never a beancurd fan! My aunt enjoyed the ‘Paper Chicken’ very too and the ‘Claypot Noodle’ too.

After dinner, we requested for our cake as dessert. I bought the cake from Jane’s Cake Station and it was really good. It coincided with my cousin Lai Kuan & hubby’s birthday which falls on the same week. We decided to sing them all of them a birthday song and mum did the cutting cake. It was fun and enjoyable evening. Cousin Bick Guan mentioned that it tasted nicer than Lana’s Cake. Well, I could 2nd that coz’ me being NOT a chocolate person, enjoyed the cake very much and had a 2nd serving…







It was a great evening family outing and guess there will be more to come...

Happening Midweek

It’s finally Wednesday and soon it will be weekend. Our main party or gathering organizer Patrick Ong (part of the 3 diamonds) kindly organized dinner & chill out session today.

Right after work, we went to have steamboat dinner at Yat Con at Seah Street. That was the restaurant my parents brought me to dinner when I was very little. It certainly brought back very fond memories of my dad. We ordered ½ chicken and sambal kangkong besides the steamboat and we managed to finish almost everything.

After dinner, we proceed to Butterfactory for some drinks. While it’s still early when we arrived, as usual, it’s photo-taking time. We had taken some pretty nice pictures at the colorful bridge at Robertson Quay. Well, it’s always nice to have some pictures taken as a keepsake.

Butterfactory is quite a popular club located in almost central of Robertson Quay where you get to see lots of young people hanging on weekends after dinner around that area. It’s virgin visit for some of my colleagues and for me, it’s my 3rd visit.

The décor is really cute where it actually brought you back to your younger days when you started to play with toys like robots, paper dolls and watching cartoons like wonder-woman. It’s really colorful and very cozy spot to chill. Angie was amazed by the club’s wallpaper and started taking loads of pictures.

As the disco only starts at 10pm daily, we decided to join our friends at Balaclava at Suntec City and it’s always like to meet up with old friends whom you have not met for the longest time. It’s great to catch up with Serene, who used to work with TTM and in-charged of our accounts for ticketing. We got really close during those days and glad that we are still in contact. It was really nice to see her again after a long long time. She still looks as good as before. I also bumped into Gary & Paul while I was there and it’s been a long time since I met them.

Guess Balaclava is the place where you might meet your long lost friend…

Cat Is Out; Hamsters At Play

Rie was on leave for holidays to her country the last couple days and came back to office today. We were all excited to see her again in the office as it was feeling kind of ‘COLD’ while she was away… hahahaahah… moreover, our bosses are OUT!

Anyway, it was so sweet of her to keep us in her mind while she was enjoying herself as she bought lots of stuff for us. Well, at least, I was really glad to have her back as she is my ‘Partner-in-crime’ in the office… hahahaah…

I was overjoyed when I received those cutie gifts from her (as usual) and those snacks from Japan are simply irresistible… that when we started our small snack party right after lunch. Yes, RIGHT AFTER LUNCH!

We were surprised by her glasses when she wore it at her desk though we already heard her complaining about her bad eyesight lately. However, I didn’t expect her to get herself a pair of glasses in Japan and man… it was really cool and fashionable.

The Singapore Flyer

It’s a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we were all excited on riding the Singapore Flyer. It’s our virgin ride and we had no idea how it will be, especially for me who is afraid of heights!

When we reached the building, I presented my pre-paid tickets at the ticket counter for them to activate it. We proceed to the promenade where we queue to ride. The queue was long but waiting time was short. It was to my surprised that it actually looked like you’re really boarding on a flight where you have to go through security checks.

After the check-points, we went one level up where the entrance was. The Flyer did not stop for you to hop on but it was on a slow speed when it arrived to pick up passengers. It was really cool and how it was operated. When we were in the capsule, I was indeed excited but after when it moved its way up, I got nervous. Me, who is afraid of heights was glued to my seat but enjoying the beautiful view. It was not long later when hubby was furious that I was sitting down instead of enjoying the view at the side… I was asked to stand and posed for pictures at the edge of the capsule. I felt my legs went jelly the moment I got up but got used to it for a while and I was all standing and taking pictures with my new camera.

Though the capsule was able to accommodate up to 28 persons but our group were small, there were only like 9 of us. It was actually a good number as it gave you space to move around and get views from all angles.

It was about 30 minutes ride and I thought it was like 30 days… coz’ it was slow and the fact was, I was still afraid of heights! Anyway, it was one great experience for us and well, I don’t think I will ride on it again till the casino is up in 2010.

KTV Night With Colleagues

Lunch@Shima Restaurant

We were once again invited by our boss Minowa-san to lunch today and this time, he brought us to Shima Restaurant at Goodwood Park Hotel.

When we arrived, we were given a warm welcome by the restaurant boss, Mr. Watanabe and his staff. They led us to our private room which they kindly arranged and yes, it was the typical tatami style room. The room is just nice to accommodate up to six pax and it’s really cozy.

Minowa-san ordered set lunch for us. I personally enjoyed their salad very much which was included in our set lunch. Minowa-san also ordered extra food like Salmon Sashimi for both of us as he knew he enjoyed that very much. The sashimi was really delicious as the salmon was very very fresh! Thumps up man…

When our main courses were served interestingly served with 6 different types of food in small portions. Then the ‘free-flow’ rice was served. The rice tasted rather special coz’ it wasn’t the same type of rice where you find at the normal Japanese restaurant like Sakae Sushi, Raku Zen, Sushi-Tei etc… the rice was really smooth, as smooth as porridge. Really … I am not kidding. It was really nice and you don’t feel bloated after eating. Well, you can always try it out yourself…

For dessert, Minowa-san kindly ordered green tea ice-cream for us with an additional cost incurred. Simply enjoyed the green tea ice-cream topped with red beans. Never like red-bean but somehow it tasted not too bad with green tea ice cream…

It was one great experience having lunch in a private tatami style room. Cool stuff…

Oh… What A Night!!!

We have started planning for this night after the news of Miyazaki-san’s departure was announced during our monthly department lunch meeting. Yes, indeed, it was a piece of sad news to all of us as he has been one great boss to work for.

He has been here for more than 6 years and he will be leaving us in mid-August. We knew it will be better for him to return to Japan as guess he might find his ‘other half’ there and settled down soon but on the other hand, we will miss working with him. It’s kind of a mixed feeling though…




We brought him to Red House Seafood at Robertson Quay (though he has been there like 3 times) but he still enjoyed the food we ordered for him. The specially chosen set menu at $488+++ was awesome but our Linda would like to try her all time favourite ‘Sweet & Sour Pork’ which was later included into the menu.

We were pretty happy with our choice as all turned out to be great. Our boss ordered the Chinese wine and we all had a share of it. Though I wasn’t the fan of Chinese wine but somehow it didn’t taste that bad after all.

The group totally enjoyed both the food and the conversation with boss and we even tried to find out some information on our new boss. Well… it was while everyone was talking and asking many questions at the same time…. I suddenly called out ‘Hey UNCLE’ to boss and that totally stunned him and everyone! Okay… I was stunned by what I said too but it was very hilarious! Boss said that he shouldn’t be clarified as ‘UNCLE’ yet as he knows I usually called Sukhdev ‘Uncle Suk’… he said he ain’t that old… it was way too finny for everyone to forget that short little ‘mistake’ that I made. Anyway, he mentioned that he was heartbroken but was fine after that la… (I got too used to calling him uncle behind his back… tats why it happened)

After dinner, we moved to Velvet Underground for our 2nd round. Man… we made history last night… it was the 1st time our whole department went partying…



Susan kindly reserved the seats at Velvet Lounge for us and we entered the premises free of charge. When we arrived, the lounge area was still empty though it was around 10ish… Miyazaki-san ordered Champagne for us and it was really nice. Soon after, more drinks were on our table and some of us brought shots for him too. We ordered some shots like; B52, Lemon Drop and tequila pop. Linda wanted to order ‘SEX IN THE CITY’ for him!!! Hahahahaah… it was supposed to be ‘Sex on the beach’ lor…

Velvet is always well-known for good-looking yuppies and gorgeous babes and yes, we all agreed. Just the table opposite us, there was some good looking people there and well; I got the best shot of this cute fellow… hahaahahaha…

Coincidentally, Zouk had an 'Singles' Night' and we brought Miyazaki-san over to try his luck. We were all given a sticker to fill in our name and supposed to stick it on our clothes.

When the music started pumping, Miyazaki-san was the 1st one to get up and walked to the dance floor leaving us behind!!! Man… He is the MAN!!! He started dancing on his own while we followed behind. It was great fun having most of us dancing together for the 1st time at Velvet. Agnes & Miyazaki-san danced their heart out that night like there is no tomorrow. As usual, Agnes’ dance steps went back to the 70s or 80s… I was really afraid that she might twist her neck as she shook them so vigorously.

Guess Miyazaki-san was feeling a little bit tipsy too by the way he danced. He kept using his butt to dance with the ladies and we were sure he had a great time doing that. We danced for a while and went back to drink again.

PK and I had 2 gross experience man… at first, while we were moving back to our seats, one drunkard girl actually puked on me!!! YES… PUKE! I was pissed man… she was drunk and can’t really walked properly and started to puke everywhere… PK got it too and we were pissed with her. I really wanted to punch the daylight out of her but I had to be glam…

Anyway, the 2nd time was while we were heading out from Zouk; this time, some guy puked on PK… right on her right side and it was so gross!!! We just couldn’t understand these useless drinkers… If you can’t drink, don’t act tough and drink!

I was still happy with the party despite the 2 awful experiences. I am definitely gonna miss Miyazaki-san…
