Holiday In Hong Kong

It’s the holiday that I have been waiting… yes, going to Hong Kong once again. If you asked me, why Hong Kong all the time, well… I would say… ‘I simply love Hong Kong for the weather, the food, the shopping and best of all, the sight-seeing on different islands.

We have arrived in Hong Kong around 2pm and hurried to check in to our hotel so that we can meet my cousin for some shopping. Cousin Lai Kuan & her hubby Brian were in HK for the 1st time on Christmas Eve and am sure they had a blast.

Speaking of our hotel at Jordan area, it’s simply OH MY GOD! The hotel was under some renovation on the exterior and though it wasn’t noisy but we couldn’t find the lobby at first. We actually passed the hotel at least 2 times before we noticed the white board with a piece of paper stating the hotel’s existence. The room was small (as usual) but clean. For a moment, we found ourselves experience the stay at our very local ‘Hotel 81’. Hahahahaha… the room was so cold eventhough we turned off the air-con… in fact, we were froze in our own room! sighz…

Met up with them around 4:45pm that late afternoon for shopping at Mong Kok where we bought shoes, bags and some clothes from Esprit Outlets (Tsim Sha Tsui). The weather was really cool, the temperature was about 13 degree at that time but we were prepared.

Soon after shopping, we had steamboat dinner at Dao Hiang which both hubby & I enjoyed so much the previous time we visited. The place was extremely like a mad house during dinner time especially winter season. We waited for our seats for a good 20 minutes though we made a reservation before we went. However, it was all worth the wait as the food was delicious!

It was simply a great experience to shop and have dinner with cousin overseas and during such wonderful season.

Christmas Party at Bird’s Nest

Merry Christmas everyone!

I simply love Christmas as it’s the time to spend time with loved ones and friends. Yes, every year, we will go to friends’ place for party, being it lunch or dinner, we will definitely be there.

This year, we were invited to Bird’s place for a simple but cozy gathering. It’s kinda different as it’s High-Tea, very cool eh... When we arrived at her place, some of my best buddies were already there as we could hear the noise from the lift… hahahhaah…

My God-Daughter Jana

Bird prepared plenty of food for us, she made soup, western satay, pies, cakes, and salads etc… it was like a Christmas feast at Robin Road. When all Rambutans arrived, Bird suggested watching the movie ‘Blades of Glory’, a comedy that Bird & I went to watch. It was simply hilarious and all of us enjoyed it.

The kids found their own toys and friends to play with in the rooms and the parents were hanging out with their friends. It was simply great and yes, we did spent some quality time together.

Christmas Lunch at Olio Dome

It’s sort of a yearly affair that my best colleagues & I will spend Christmas lunch together. This year, we went to Olio Dome at Suntec City. To our surprise, it wasn’t crowded at all coz’ usually it will be.

Since it wasn’t crowded, our lunch was nice and cool but minus the point that we sat in front of the kitchen! Sigh… we have no choice. Our orders were taken and were served within 10 minutes. It was indeed a great time to have lunch with close friends without the rushing crowds and noise!

Our office officially given staff ½ day on Christmas’ Eve and after lunch, Jessie, Rie and myself went back to office to clear some work while the rest left for their last minute shopping. I enjoyed the lunch though it was simple but it’s the group that you are dinning with that made a difference.

Friends, hereby, I would like to thank you for your wonderful friendship that you have extended to me and may you and your loved ones enjoy this beautiful season of Christmas.

SACians Gathering – Class of ‘91

It’s been 16 years since we left school and some of us have lost touch with our school & class mates. Through Facebook, we were able to organize a Get-Together-Party.

Last evening, I was really excited to see some of my friends whom I have lost touch with for the longest time and can’t wait to meet them again. Met organizer Susan for dinner and then went to EM Bar by the river at Gallery Hotel. The place was cozy and very nice. We were given a cool sofa corner for our party though it was an open pub.

At around 8pm, our friends started to flow in and it was really nice and happy to see faces that I have missed for those years. Some of them looked really different without their school uniform on! Hhahahaah… who wouldn’t right!!

All we needed to do was to pay the $20 to the waitress and the funny part was, she gave us a piece of blank paper (so-called drink coupon)! It was strange but guess that was the only choice. Soon, finger-food were served, there were chicken wings, fries, chips etc…

Around 10pm, most of our friends arrived and of course, being girls, we are kinda noisy and those patrons can’t even hear the Live Band playing that night. That was how noisy we were… but we had loads of fun talking and taking photos.

I think we should have this sort of party often to keep the SACian spirit going. It’s always good to have a friend than to loose one! Cheers!

Mitsubishi’s Annual Dinner & Dance 2007

Our dinner & dance is a yearly affair and at times it can be crazy, at times it can be kind of slack la… This year, we held the event at Swissotel, The Stamford and the ballroom housed about 240 guests.
The Reception-ists

The theme this year was World Carnival and everyone is supposed to wear culture outfits like Kimono for Japanese, Baju Kurung for Malays, Kebaya for Peranakans and Sari for Indians etc…. I wore a modern Indian top with just jeans where I felt most comfortable on. Some of my colleagues wore Cheong Sam, Baju Kurung and in Kimono. It was amazing that some actually dressed to the theme. To some, wearing to the theme is unnecessary and they came in causal outfits.

The night started off as usual with our General Manager, Kitagawa-san’s speech and followed by the ‘Long-Service Awards’. Soon after, we were presented our company’s very own MTV! Yes, it was aired and most of us had a great laugh though the MTV does not make much senses…
Our GM Mr Kitagawa

1st dish was served and soon after, there were games and performance. My colleagues and I were totally turned off by the performance by this ‘LIAN’… that did a very ULTRA stupid stage performance which she called it ‘Para Para’… man… she wasn’t doing any dance but some kind of silly and stupid workout. She then tried to get some men up to stage to perform with her and most of us were bored by that and hoping the performance will end ASAP!! For that moment, I thought I was attending some 7th month Auction dinner at the void-deck!

Then, it came with the 1st staff performance by our fellow colleagues and our GM. They performance ‘Cha Cha Cha’ this year AGAIN and it was relatively quite boring. It wasn’t a Woo-ha thingy and I noticed some staff actually walked out during their performance. Well… what can I say… they aren’t pros so… it aren’t ‘fire-works’ performance.
Cha Cha Cha

Surprising on the 2nd staff performance, we got the whole ballroom clapping and cheering… it was pretty entertaining when 5 male Japanese staffs performed 1st time on stage. It was really good and light to watch. They seemed very happy and all were smiling while they were dancing which was truly entertaining and fun to watch.

The performance provided by the entertainment firm was a belly dancer and in the beginning, it was acceptable but it was kind of drag when she came out the 2nd time… sighz… not too sure what was GM thinking… we were all bored by it.

After the belly dancing, we came to the final staff performance and it was by our subsidiary Metal One. They performed a song sang in Mandarin and Japanese. It was alright but the outfit was a huge mismatch! For a moment, we thought it was a bridesmaids singing for the wedding couple!

There was Karaoke Singing Competition which they called it ‘Mitsubishi Idol’. The winner was Sheena & her partner, Angela & Philip came in 2nd and 3rd went to Christine & Mr. Yong.

The best dressed contest was fun where they chose 5 ladies & 5 men. Finally, Evon who dressed like a cow girl won and Baldev in his own culture outfit won for men.

The night ended with the grand lucky draw at the struck of mid-night. Soon after the draw, everyone started to move off and left only a hand full of staff dancing the night away.

Overall, this year’s event is full of performance and hopefully next year will be lesser and no more performance by GM! Hahahaah…. Colleagues, don’t you agree…
