The Simpsons Movie

The Simpsons Movie was one funny and cool show watched on my weekend get-away with hubby.

You might ask if it’s as good as the TV series? Well, I would say YES and in fact, slightly better as they brought the ever-so-silly Homer on bigger screen.

The story line is simple and very child-like comedy. If you are one of the Simpsons fan like myself, you would probably love it as much as I do. On the other hand, if you are one of those who has no idea who the Simpsons are (like my hubby), you will enjoy it too coz’ it’s really one relaxing movie to watch. I am sure the kids will love it!

Mid-Summer's Night Dream

Had a totally weird dream last night and in fact, you could either classify it under either a comedy or perhaps a nightmare?

Don’t even ask me how my dream started coz did’ I didn’t plan for it. In my dream, I was in a shopping with my usual suspects – haahaha... you know who you are la… Theresa as usual was checking out those cosmetics and bags, Eliz & Vivian were checking out some clothes, while I was looking at TOYS! Man… that’s not Toys R Us we were at. It was some departmental store which looked extremely gorgeous.

Usually, you see people that you don’t know in your dreams and find them familiar when you meet them on the streets. Yes, I have many unfamiliar faces in my dream but what do you expect, it’s a departmental store!

Alright, now the best part is almost approaching… while we were all busy looking at our own preferred items, there was an announcement from the PA informing us that we have to evacuate from the building as we are under ATTACK!

My goodness… the normal reaction of many in real life will be in chaos situation but in this dream, we were still calm and continued to queue for our purchases… how cool is that…

Not long later, we were told we had to leave the place immediately and many patrons left in a calm manner. No screams no pushing… Then we heard airplanes above us and started to panic if we will be bombed! Obviously, we don’t want to die in the departmental store or we will be in the news ‘Shop Till You Part’!! We ran for our life but the motion was really slow and steady. We were ushered to the top of the building (wondered why as there were airplanes all over the skies).

Finally, we ran for our life and reached the edge of the building top, we were then asked to jump down the building with a rope! While all of us were reaching for our ropes, suddenly Vivian’s rope was loosened and she glided down the building without control… Theresa & I immediately glided down with our ropes as fast as we could to catch hold of Vivian’s rope and eventually saved her life (Saving Private Vivian)! WOWWWWWW… Vian, you better be grateful to us hor…

I think all those Superhero movies must have gotten into me! I woke up pondering what had happened and I really felt strange… well… dreams are meant to be strange, aren’t they.

Happy Birthday Mummy Dearest

A big birthday kiss and hug to the best Cook, Housekeeper, Friend, Companion and most of all, the best MUM!

Linda's Birthday Celebration

There are lots of birthday celebrations in the month of July. Last night, our birthday girl Linda Lim brought us for dinner at Boon Keng.

She spoke about the place often but I have never heard about it though I used to stay that area. The dinner place was a small coffee shop that serves 'Cze Cha'. We ordered Asam Fish Head, Pan Fried Prawn, Prawn Paste Fried Chicken, Sambal Kai Lan and 'Hei Zor'. Man I tell you... though the presentation of the food were simple but they simply tasted delicious, especially the Asam Fish Head.

The Asam Fish was very sour and spicy, tasted perfectly well with rice. Well.. there were 5 of us and we finished all the food. Even after dinner, some of us were planning to bring our family & friends the following day.... hahahahaa.. Alright, you might ask... 'Where is this coffee shop?' Caper Seafood is located near Boon Keng MRT station, beside 'Boon Tong Kee Chicken Rice'. Go check it out if you are around that area.

Celebration continued to Velvet Underground. We were early and managed to enter the premises free by flashing our Citibank Clear Card... haaaaa...

We went up to Phuture to chill out, as there was a private function at Velvet. Phuture was refurnished and looking extremely good. The furniture was cool and interesting. Velvet Underground did a small construction too and they have added a ‘smoking deck’ for smokers, which was cool.

We roomed the place to check out the different music played. Phuture was playing Hip Hop music, good but overcrowded. Really… it’s like a Singapore Sling in there, just couldn’t move about.

Velvet’s crowd was fine but the music wasn’t pumping then so, we moved to Zouk to check out the guest DJ Ken Ishii. Wasn’t bad at all but then… guess our body can’t take late nights anymore, we left kind of early from the clubber point of view…

Happy Birthday Linda Lim

My big warmest birthday greetings going out to my buddy, Linda Lim!

Ah Leng, wishing you be surrounded with happiness, love, LUCK, WEALTH and happy times all the time. May you always strike TOTO, 4D and even Big Sweep so that you have added those diamonds, pearls, jade and your latest addiction Watches into your collection. Hehehee…

Have an enjoyable birthday hor…

Seafood Dinner

Recently, we heard that there are some buildings, places or houses were asked to move out. Errmm… they called them ‘EN-Blocs’. We were invited to dine at No Signboard, The Oasis which is one of those who was asked to move by end of this year for government’s development.

It was a rare dinner invitation by our dear ex-colleague cum buddy Peter. Though he working for another company but I am glad that we keep in touch. Really thanks to great ideals of networks like MSN & Yahoo! Messengers as they are great communication tools.

Well… dinner at No Signboard was fine and the food was simply delicious except the Sambal Kang Kong la… It wasn’t spicy enough and not that tasty anymore. For starters, we ordered fried baby squid and sotong balls. I got to tell you…. the baby squid goes perfectly well with white wine.

Our main dishes were awesome. Hahah… we had deep fried lobster, pepper crab, sambal kang kong, steam red groupa and chilli crab with man tou. Man… it was such a high cholesterol meal. It’s basically all seafood except for the one and only vegetables. Well… cooling Hashima with red dates wraps up our dinner.

It’s really great to have dinner with ex-colleagues who became our friends eventually. The good thing is, we will never run out of topics as there is always so much to talk about. Totally enjoyed the dinner and now, you guys can check out those pix…

Movie Screening

It’s Thursday and I received an invitation to go for the World Screening of Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. Man… though I am no fan of Harry Potter but guess it would be nice to watch it free as movie tickets are pretty costly these days.

The screening was at Prince Cinema located at the Beach Road. It’s been ages since I laid foot on that building. This very sad shopping mall hasn’t changed a bit since our school days. The car park was really old and narrow. For a moment, I was afraid that the building might collapse.

Anyway, went straight to the cinema as the movie was about to start. At the entrance of the cinema, it was overcrowded with people queuing to enter and to buy their movie bites. The queue for the movie bites was long and taking too much time as there was only 1 counter opened.

Squeezed my way through the door and finally seated. I was uncomfortable the moment I sat down. OH MY GOODNESS!!! There was no leg room. The seats were old, noisy… very narrow.
I couldn’t understand why they attached the drink stand at the back of each seats and not the arm rest. There was already no leg room plus the drink stand, totally no SPACE!

It was a 2 hours plus movie and my legs were in pain! I needed to stretch and found my leg stuck under the seats in front of me! Geezzz… hate the feeling.

Ok… back to the movie… it was alright but nothing fantastic. It’s part 5 man! The graphics and the special effects were good but I simply enjoyed the soundtrack… Daniel Radcliffe is not a boy anymore but a good-looking young man. Errrm... in this movie, Harry Potter is romantically connected with Cho Chang and even had a kissing scene.

Anyway, nothing much to say about the movie coz’ its Harry Potter lor. Guess reading the book might be better off.

Farewell Luncheon For Evon

When I heard the restaurant name 'Aquamarine', I felt like a mermaid but almost became a Merlion...

Lately there were so many farewell & welcome luncheons to attend in my office. It's really sad to see close colleagues leaving and guess more to come!

We had a farewell cum welcome lunch at Aquamarine, Marina Mandarin and the spread was simply fantastic! I wished my lunch time was 3 hours lor!!! The restaurant's ambience was cool and cozy, very comfortable actually.

Let me tell you about the FOOD... there was quite a good spread of seafood like oysters, crayfish, prawns, scallops & mussels. Then we have the good selection of HAMS, salad, salmon, seafood salads etc... there was a quiet sushi-bar where you order your sashimi, sushi etc... drooling yet?

Main course ... Masala prawn, braised duck, broccoli with mushroom, roast beef, fried carrot cake, wanton noodles, steam fish etc… there were so much more.

Dessert wasn’t that fantastic despite their cute desserts display. They had the usual cakes, fruits, fondue, some local nonya kuehs and many mousse cakes! The only thing I trusted was Häagan Dazs ice-cream, it was the safest choice for dessert; you will never go wrong with ice-cream.

It can be quite annoying when you are about to have your favourite ice-cream, you get someone asking if you’re having ICE! Wah lao lor… though I was having macadamia brittle, it’s obvious enough I am eating ICE-CREAM lah! Who will be so silly to have ICE as dessert! Biang eh…..

Anywayz… it was a very enjoyable luncheon with colleagues though it was a farewell lunch for dearie Evon.

Now people, you know why I mentioned that I was almost a Merlion… too much food leads to…

Movie Weekend

This is one movie that I will not miss, Transformers! Well... yes, you might think that this is such a 'BOY/MAN' movie and not suitable for girls... well, you're so wrong lor... In fact, I grew up with Transformers.

Remember those younger days when I will stay home for the cartoon and love that cool toy (but was so expensive to own one). Anyway, was able to catch the cartoon was good enough.

Thank God I booked the tickets online or I will not get to watch it today coz' it was like a sell-out thingy... I was very excited and had high expectation on this movie and it didn't disappoint at all. It was simply fantastic and just the special effects. Totally awesome!

I would love to own a car that can transforms too man... for that reason, I won't need to get up that early for work but will be on time!! haaahaha... Autobots Bumblebee was really cool (though it was like crap before) as well as Optimus Prime.
Bumblebee
Optimus Prime
Megatron (Decepticons)

Megan Fox just blew me away when she appeared. My Goodness!!!! She is just simply gorgeous man... I would love to have that body... errrmm... will start working out from now! Arrrgghhh... that Josh Duhamel (from the hit-drama Las Vegas) is simply delicious!!! hahahaah... Man... I am sweating here when I think of him! *winks*
Megan Fox
My darling Josh Duhamel

Well... for those who think it's more like a guy movie, it's NOT! It's so cool and go catch it for its fantastic special effects. I certainly will go get the DVD.

An Evening With Friends

Last night, it was another gathering with old pals and usual, we had dinner and head to clubs thereafter. Dinner at Spageddies Paragon was great and enjoyable.

After dinner, we were deciding where to ‘hang’ as the night was still young. Finally we decided to check out the new club which was opened recently at Clarke Quay. I was kinda excited when I heard Clarke Quay! Reason being… I haven’t been there for the longest time. The last time I was there was for an event held at MOS (Ministry of Sound) and that was it. I heard so much about the changes there but sad to say… haven’t been there yet lor.

When we reached there, I was even more excited to see the new face lift of Clarke Quay. It was so gorgeous compared to the previous ‘Satay Club’. It’s very modern, cool and you find people at every corner. There increased of clubs and pubs were well-spread as they are attracting different crowds. It might be the ‘Lan Kwai Fong’ Singapore.

Finally, we settled at ‘The Arena’. When I entered the club, I felt that I was heading for a WWF match due to the name la… True enough, the stage was designed like the WWF ring and they showed WWF videos in the house. Man… I was like… geeezzz... this ain’t the place for me man! Soon after we ordered our drinks, John Molino came up to perform and I simply enjoyed that cool 30 minutes of his performance.

I was brought to the attention by my friends to check out the waiters & waitress there… STOP, not that they are good looking or looking like wrestlers la… We noticed that they replenished their wine, beers, or even ice-cubes by using a pail. YES, A PAIL. My goodness lor… it’s so uncool of them to do that in a club. Then, we saw them passing us a couple of times holding floor mobs. Aiyo... shouldn’t they be doing their cleaning after the clubbers leaves? I really don’t get it. Thank God, we didn’t stay long as we were really getting bored.

I would love to check out the other clubs or pubs at Clarke Quay. Care to join me anyone?
