Visit To USS

This would be our second visit to USS as we are aware that they have added some new themes to the park. Our little miracle loves Elmo and the thought of her having fun and getting to see the monsters of Sesame Street will bring smiles to our faces.

We set off early this morning to beat the crowd and when we arrived at RWS, USS already filled with many tourists on a hot Wednesday. When we got into the park, it was not as crowded as what we thought as the queues for the rides were not as horrific as I imagined. We remembered the last time when we took Faith for the Madagascar ride; she started to cry when we entered the dark tunnel. This time, we tried the ride again and Faith enjoyed the ride thoroughly.
After the ride, we managed to catch the mascots after their performance. She was thrilled and went forward to pose with the penguins, hippo and Alex the lion. We continued our park tour and wanted to try Shrek but she refused as she voiced out that she is afraid and she wants to see Elmo.

As our journey continued, we stopped over at the Jurassic Park and Faith pointed out to the ‘dinosaur ride’. I took the ride with her and she was one brave girl… she noticed the ‘white’ button and pressed on it… I was rather surprised when our seat was raised… she felt excited about it and wanted to have it raised higher… actually… I was pretty frightened and told her not to press the white button… ‘PHEW’
As she was really eager to find Elmo, we went straight to Sesame Street theme and saw Cookie Monster mascot near the Sesame Street gift cart. She became really excited and ran towards it and gave it a big hug. We were happy that we were able to have a photo taken with Cookie Monster as that is one of my favourite characters too.
We checked out the show time and thought it will be good to return our lunch. The latest ride is the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase and it was a very family oriented ride. It was a slow roller coaster like ride where they will bring you through the street with all the characters greeting you and somehow made you feel like you are part of it. Very cool ride indeed.
After our luncheon, we walked around while waiting for the Sesame Street show to start. We tried to pass our time by heading back to take the Madagascar carousel. We certainly were early for the show as our little one was really excited about meeting Elmo. When the show finally began, Faith and many other kiddos stood up and started to call out for Elmo, Cookie Monsters, Ernie etc… for a moment, I thought I was at a concert!!!

When the show ended, Faith ran forward trying to hug Elmo but unfortunately, she couldn’t as there were many kids around him. Faith was really disappointed and kept asking if Elmo will be back again… when we told her that the show has ended, she refused to leave and was confident that Elmo will return to hug her… ‘GIDDS’… finally, I had to buy her Elmo whiteboard so that she agreed to leave…

We went to Hard Rock Hotel to check ourselves in as the normal check in time is 3pm. When we arrived at the lobby which is not too far from USS, there was a short queue for the guest checking in. I had an issue with the rates and it somehow delayed my time… but the front desk lady was really nice to offer us a late check-out…

Our room was pretty cool and the theme was Bee Gees. The room was cozy and quite a good size with a cool pool view and a day bed.

For dinner, we travel to Vivo City with the hotel pass and being Singaporean, we went to try out the new restaurant, Madam Kwan. We enjoyed the food at Madam Kwan when we visited KL and it was recommended by my buddy Theresa. The food was great and the price was reasonable in KL but it was totally overpriced in Singapore.

We ordered their signature nasi lemak which consists of a piece of chicken with curry, rice, cucumber, floss & chili… the taste was acceptable but price wasn’t. I ordered their hor fun as Faith preferred noodles over grains and it tasted alright but not fantastic. As for dessert, we ordered the gendol to share and we both agreed that this would be the most reasonable dish to order in that restaurant.

We both agreed that this would be our first and the last time we visit this restaurant as we did not enjoy the food, the service as well as the price in this restaurant. For that kind of price, I would rather get nasi lemak from Adam Road!
