Day 2 In Hong Kong

We simply love the cooling weather and today, we brought our parents to get their stuff. We took train from Jordan MTR to Sheung Wan to get their dry stuff as that is one of the reasons why they are in Hong Kong.

When we arrived at the dry goods shop at Sheung Wan, it was quite quiet and I guessed we were their first customers. Mum & parents in law browsed around the shop and started buying many stuff from them.

Mother in law checked out the bird’s nest price and thought it was more reasonable to get in HKG than in Singapore. Yes, she bought of course… she said that she bought for Maggie who is currently pregnant with no. 2 and will keep some for me in case I gets pregnant soon… mmmh… I hope so too lor…

They spent about an hour in the shop bargaining and choosing the best quality dry goods while we entertained our little one. Brought her to the newly opened Ibis Hotel where they had the Christmas tree and took some photos for her. Hubby was called into the shop as mum told hub that mother in law did not have enough cash with her. Later did we know that mother in law spent a BOMB in that shop! I too tried to stop my mum from buying more stuff as it was only the 2nd day and she has other stuff she wanted to get…
After ‘bleeding’ at the shop, we brought them to have dim sum at the popular restaurant Lin Heung Kui. I happened to know this restaurant mainly thanks to the HKG Cantonese serials that I watched… *winks* They served very traditional dim sums which was what we like and parents enjoyed some good desserts which they can’t get to taste in Singapore anymore.

We headed back to hotel as parents bought too many dry goods and it was too heavy to carry them around and shop. The elderly preferred to rest in the hotel as they would like to check their damages… Hubby and I took the opportunity to go shopping on our own since Faith was sleeping and we went to walk around at Mong Kok.

In the evening, we went to Tsim Sha Tsui to walk around and headed for an early dinner since they did not have snack today. There was a queue at Sweet Dynasty but it did not take long to get seated.

We ordered some good dishes like the salted fish with pork rice, pork rib with mushroom rice, chicken feet & pork rib rice. Mummy had the Yang Chow fried rice while I took their special fried noodle as Faith preferred noodles over rice. We ordered fried chicken and dry wanton to share.

As for desserts, we ordered their signature bean curd in a bamboo tin. It was freshly made upon order and man… it was really soft and nice. My mum loved it so much that she had 3 servings of that while the rest had two. Faith finished a small portion on her own and wanted more but the adults finished the whole tin…
The weather tonight was about 14 degree and we felt the chill when the wind blows. We took a stroll down Tsim Sha Tsui and went back to hotel thereafter. It was a fruitful day for the elderly definitely as they managed to get all the dry goods they wanted.
