Hello Melbourne

This has been a long-awaited trip as we have always wanted to bring the kids to Melbourne but they were pretty young then and this year, we are really happy that we brought the kids to UK and they were able to withstand the 13 hours flight so, we decided to bring them to Melbourne since it’s ½ the flight travelling time.

We set off to the airport in the late night as we were catching the mid-night flight. The airport was so crowded as usual and the kids were drawn to the ‘Frozen 2’ movie displays. They were thrilled to see the displays and got ever so excited that they almost did not want to leave. Hahahahaah…
After immigration, we hang at Coffee Bean for a short while to let the kids have some supper before boarding as we would prefer them to sleep rather to take the plane food. When they got on the plane, it took Lady Faith a long time to sleep as she was enjoying her movies onboard while little Emma was the first to knock out. We were lucky that daddy’s side has 2 spare seats beside him and we shifted little pumpkin over so that she can sleep soundly and comfortably throughout the flight. Thumps up!
Before we knew it, we have safely arrived at Melbourne Tullamarine airport as scheduled. The kids were fresh while the adults were pretty much drained due to lack of sleep. The weather in Melbourne was 12 degrees when we arrived and the wind was not very friendly towards us too. We hurried to catch the free shuttle to collect our car and the registration and collection of the car were smooth and quick.

We did not waste any time and started our adventure driving towards Ballarat which was our first destination. The drive from Melbourne to Ballarat was about an hour or so but the scenery was what kept us awake. When we arrived at Ballarat, I was shocked by how cold it turned – it was 8 degrees!! I couldn’t bear to leave the car to do the check in at Mercure Ballarat but just had to or we will sleep in the car tonight… hahahaahah
We headed out to explore the area and had a quick luncheon at KFC as little pumpkin would like to try. The KFC served better chicken then back home. We ordered the chicken tender and nuggets set for the kids and they simply gave a thump up! The chicken was tender and juicy compared to the ones back home where it is dry and tough. mmmh…. wonder why the drastic difference.

As it was really cold outdoor, we decided to chill in our room and rest before we go dinner. Our room was spacious but Mercure should be quite an old hotel though it was rated 5 stars. Our room consisted of a bunk bed and a king bed with personal garage just outside our door. It was comfortable staying for a night but the weather outdoor was way too cold to do anything.

It is summer in Australia and when we headed out for dinner at around 7pm, the sky was so bright and the sun was still shinning powerlessly. We drove to the nearby restaurant where it was practically 5 mins walking distance from our hotel but the weather is not suitable for walking so we drove. The place for dinner is pretty much a casino and a restaurant with huge indoor play area for kids.
We enjoyed dinner and the kids had a great time playing at the play area while hubby and I had a few games of Kino over coffee after dinner. We went back to our hotel for an early night as it will be a long day tomorrow.
