Philip Island Adventure

It’s a beautiful day today and we are all excited about taking the ferry to Philip Island with our car. This would be the first time experiencing to board the ferry together with the car. Sounds so cool and indeed it is!! We arrived at the jetty early and had some time to rest and even for a short breakfast at the café.
When it was time to board the ferry, we got back into our car and let’s check in together! Woohoo!!! It was so cool and after we had our car parked, we went up to the upper deck to check out the views. The kids wanted to hang out as it was such a rare opportunity for them to take the ferry and be able to sit on the deck area. However, the play was cut short due to the rain. We had to get back to the lounge deck but the kids were happy to entertain themselves at the mini-playground.

After about 45 minutes, we arrived at Sorrento. We drove around and stopped over for a quick lunch and coffee before continuing our drive towards Philip Island. We chanced upon this cool café Ivy Co. and we decided to have our luncheon there. The café is divided into 3 areas which was pretty interesting. The place consists of a café (Ivy Co.), a shop that sells everything and a hidden hair salon. It was really cool and it enables the adults to sit and have coffee while the kids can check out the toys or cool stuff or perhaps sitting at the café while waiting for someone at the salon. Love the idea.
We continued our journey and finally checked in to our hotel for the night. It was quite a distance from the penguin viewing point but it was not a long drive away. Before the penguin parade, we had some time to explore the place and first, we went to visit the Philip Island Chocolate Factory. It was quite different from the chocolate factory we visited at Swan Valley in Perth and best part, the owner is an Indian. Pretty cool isn’t it. Their café even serves many Asian food like Nasi Lemak, Laska etc… we were pretty surprised but the tourists that visits that place seemed to enjoy the food served at the café.
On our way to the Nobbies Ocean Discovery Center, we stopped by some pretty cool areas for some photo-taking as the views were too beautiful not to captured. The weather was about 15 degrees though the sun was shinning brightly on us. We decided to have our dinner taken at the Nobbies Ocean Discovery Centre since we have some time to spare.

It was about 10 minutes’ drive back to the penguin parade viewing place and we were happy that we were early as I managed to grab some pretty souvenirs for friends and families over there. The gates to the penguin parade was finally ready and we followed the crowd to enter the premises.

We bought the underground viewing gallery tickets as the outdoor plus gallery was already fully booked. It was pretty warm underground just the way I liked it as it was freezing cold outside. I was really happy that the guides were so nice to explain to us what we can expect and they even educated us on the penguins’ life and how they survived their daily life.
We waited about almost 1hr 45 minutes before the little cuties finally decided to come ashore and head home. It was super cool to be able to see them up closed from the glass panel and kiddos were awed by how cute the penguins were. They were so small but super cute and intelligent. This is one great and wonderful experience for the kiddos and I am really happy to experience it twice. 😊
