On our way to Melbourne City, we stopped by at Brighton
to check out some beautiful famous bathing boxes. They are simply so colourful
and definitely brought out the hype at the beach. Built well over a century ago
in response to Very Victorian ideas of morality and seaside bathing, the bathing
boxes remain almost unchanged. All retain classic Victorian architectural
features with timber framing, weatherboards and corrugated iron roofs, though
they also bear hallmarks of individual licencess’ artistic and colourful
embellishments.
We went to have our lunch at The Bath Bistro
and had a superb meal. We enjoyed the salt and pepper calamari, seafood paella while
the kids had their kids’ meal. Food was not only great but the service was wonderful
too.
After our luncheon, it’s time to check out our
apartment for the next few days. We took a slow drive to Collin Street where
our apartment is located and it wasn’t difficult to locate the building with
the GPS and the apartment is right smack on the heart of the business district.
We checked into our cozy and beautiful nest for
the next few days and instead of chilling in the apartment, we wasted no time
and took a stroll around the neighbourhood. We were really happy that the supermarket
Woolworth is just opposite where we lived.
As restaurants and shops closed early in the
business district, we decided to have an early dinner at the nearby Thai restaurant.
Well, the food they served was alright, no WOW factor honestly but it was
rather pricey compared to back home.
It’s laundry and some packing time at the apartment
and the kids finally get to watch Disney and Cartoon channels on TV. Somehow there
was only limited kids’ channel on the outskirts. I am definitely turning in
early as I need to regain my energy. hhahaahahahah
