Our Adventure Begins

Woke up to a super cold morning at Ballarat and for the first time on a holiday, I wanna stay indoors… my face froze the moment I stepped outside. It was that COLD! Braving through the cold weather, we set off to our destination – Ballarat Wildlife Park which is about 15 minutes’ drive from our hotel.

When we arrived at the park, I noticed that the temperature went up slightly to 11 degrees from 6 degrees. The sun was shinning bright and we felt the heat but we brought along the sweaters incase the temperature decides to go low.
We bought our tickets for the park and were greeted by the super cute baby wombat at the entrance. We joined their tour right away. The park was really cool and we were amazed on the different types of animals we could see. It is just different from the other wildlife parks we had visited before.
Our tour guide brought us to see the different types of animals in their park and the coolest one would be the Kolas, Tasmania Devil and the Wombat family. It did not occur to me that I was able to get so close to see the Tasmania Devil which is considered as an endangered animal. As we walked along the park, the guide gave us some kangaroo food to fit the wild kangaroos that were hanging around the park and most of them were pretty shy or perhaps too full to entertain us.

Little pumpkin and Lady Faith were enjoying feeding the kangaroos and even chased after the young ones to feed them. They want to make sure they have enough food to eat to keep them warm during this COLD Summer. Then, we arrived at the Wombats habitat and little George (baby wombat) came out to greet us and had its brunch. It was so round and cute though it did not smell great… haahahah

After a long walk outdoor, our last station with the tour would be the up close and personal with the kolas. It was simply cute and managed to get a picture taken. While everyone was moving their focus at the kolas, we noticed that the alligator swam up to the glass panel and started to stare at us. It was really creepy as it wasn’t moving but just stared sticking its head to the glass panel.
As we will be leaving Ballarat to Warrnambool, we decided to have lunch at the café. They served very simple but tasty food at the café and we just pretty much want to satisfy our stomach which was crying out for food.

We continued our adventure and it took us about 2 hours to reach Warrnambool. The temperature wasn’t too friendly neither as it drizzled when we arrived. The temperature took a dip to 7 degrees when we checked ourselves into Best Western Olde Maritime Motor Inn. Though you might think Ínn’ is pretty much like a motel but I tell you… this Inn’s room is fantastic. It consisted of a single bed and a double bed and room was spacious! I love the room as it was very clean and had a bed heater to keep you warm during your sleep on a COLD summer.
We headed out to check out the surroundings and brought the kids to the nearby playground for some fun but the fun was cut short as it started to drizzle. We moved on and found Coles Supermarket nearby and decided to check it out. I am a HUGE fan of supermarkets and Coles is one of my favorites in Australia.

We went to check out the Logan Beach Whale Nursery where it was known to many that you might be able to spot whales during some seasons. It wasn’t the right time so; we did not spot any this time. This is a beautiful beach and the view was breathtaking! Though it was so cold, but it was all worth the short walk to take in the beautiful view to our heart.

We drove back to our Inn for dinner as Clovelly Restaurant and Bar is one of the most recommended restaurants in Warrnambool and it has a very good rating for their food and services. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was already quite busy but we managed to get a seat without any reservation. The staff was really friendly and warmth. They brought the kids some papers and color pencils as their entertainment and told us their specialty for the day.
While waiting for our food to be served, we had a great time drawing as a family and it was wonderful bonding time with the kids. We ordered spaghetti kids meal for the kiddos while hubby and I shared the ribs, seafood pasta and the grilled barramundi which was super tasty! The food was really good and I do highly recommend to those who travels to Warrnambool to try it! Thumps UP!
Now with a full stomach, it’s time to get some rest! It’s Ocean Road tomorrow!! Woohoo!!!
