SK Quah Run 2009

I have been out of school for quite a while now and I was called up to help at the SK Quah Run on a Saturday morning which means… my beauty sleep will be sacrificed… this run is actually dedicated to our late PE teacher Mr. Quah.

The Run was held at our old school down at Middle Road (our new school is now located in Bedok area). When I arrived this morning, I was really sleepy and tired due to the CNY holidays and heading back to work on Thursday was absolutely dreadful! I was delighted to see so many people already warming themselves up for the run and some are busy taking pictures of the runners and the rest were rushing to get themselves registered.

Though I was only called up to help around but when I saw them doing their stretching and putting on their number tags, I sort of regretted not taking part in the 21km run. Anyway, saw many seniors and of course some juniors (whom I don’t know). I also saw Ms. Kang, my former Secondary 3 form teacher… my goodness!! She looked the same and still damn FIT lor! I was also surprised to meet hubby’s cousin-in-law whom I didn’t know that she is actually my senior!

Vivian arrived with kueh lapis for us but she was surprised that there were no food stalls… we started helping out to pack goodie bags; includes one school tee-shirt, two magazines, a toothpaste, book-mark and a certificate for the run.

We got excited when the official race began and everyone was cheering them on as they had to run as many rounds round the church compound as possible. It certainly brought back so much memory as that used to be our PE ground. That rough ground used to be our playground, meeting point, primary school brushing teeth area and our physical fitness test ground…

I took the opportunity to visit my Primary School and when I stepped on the stairs where I used to run up and down, my tears rolled down my face. I realized that I really missed my school days and suddenly I felt so old! Sighz…

The race ended early and one of the senior team won! They actually completed a full marathon instead of half. It was indeed a great achievement for them. There was a prize presentation and lucky draws for all participants. The event ended off by sing our school song and with the famous SK Quah Cheer… (hip hip hooray) hahaahahaha… it was funny but very meaningful la…

Congratulations to the organizers of this event and looking forward to another one perhaps.
