New Year’s Eve In Hong Kong

Time flies and its New Year’s Eve! Tomorrow it will be another brand new year!

This morning, we went back to the restaurant near our hotel for dim sum as it was so good that I can’t get enough of it. I noticed that they had stirred fried glutinous rice and hubby ordered the local favorite pork rib rice! It was indeed delicious… I am already drooling while writing about it…

After our sumptuous dim sum, we check out of Eaton Hotel and took a taxi to Hong Kong Island where we checked ourselves in at Conrad Hong Kong. We were so looking forward to the stay as the room is definitely bigger than the one we stayed in Kowloon. We considered ourselves lucky to be given a gorgeous room with a beautiful view. I knew that I will be spending the New Year countdown at the comfort of our own room as we were given the view of the IFC building where the fireworks will be showing. Really excited!

After shopping in Central, we went for our hi-tea at Temple Street. This is one extremely traditional café where you can find in Temple Street, it has a history of the first ‘Kar Wai’ (booth seats) built in this café. When we arrived at the café, we climbed up the narrow stairs to the upper floor where we were lucky to get the window seats. We ordered their famous ‘Po Lo Bao’ and their baked pork chop rice with a cup of tasty milk tea.

Our milk teas were served and within a couple of minutes, hubby finished it as it tasted so smooth and good. His Po Lo Bao was served next and I had to say that it was the BEST Po Lo Bao I had ever tried. It was soft, tasty and mmmmh…. YUMMY! My baked pork chop rice didn’t loose out neither. It tasted incredibly tasty with their special tomato sauce. The meat was soft, tender and juicy even baked! The fragrance of the rice was added an awesome flavor to it. Totally THUMPS UP!!!!

For dinner, we didn’t plan for an expensive New Year’s Eve dinner but a very simple and delicious one. We went to Central for our favorite beef noodles… YES, the curry beef noodles were heavenly though it was the spicy sort but it tasted great. I just couldn’t get enough of it and hubby had to order a beef brisket soup… Ooopppsss….

As we made our way back to hotel after buying some drinks and chips, we stopped by at the mall to take some pictures of Santa’s House. It was really cute and kind of like the display. We were all prepared to welcome Year 2010 in our comfortable pajamas and the local TV countdown programs.

The view from our room was simply fantastic… counting down… 3, 2, 1… Happy New Year and there the fireworks started on the IFC building right before our eyes…

Happy New Year my friends!

The food looks delicious! The restaurant looks very vintage. Hope you didn't get to see the creepies and the crawlies...
