Day Trip To Macau

This would be our fourth time visiting Macau but a virgin visit for our parents. They were indeed excited about heading to Macau as it is well-known as the Asian Las Vegas. We were picked up by our guide as early as 7am and went for breakfast before heading to the jetty.

As usual, travelling by sea is one of my weakest link… each time I travel to Macau; I will never fail to bring our Singapore identity with me… the MERLION!!! If you have no idea what I am referring to… that means I will vomit la…

After meeting our tour guide at Macau, we went straight for sight-seeing (as usual) and our first stop was to have our picture taken with the significant status of a cross between Mother Mary and the Guangyin… that symbolized both East & West religion.

We toured around and landed on the old jetty during the Portuguese era. We were given options to either visit the famous Chinese temple or having some snacks like the famous Portuguese egg-tarts… those who know me very well would know that I will definitely choose to try out their local snacks. When you visit Macau, you should never miss out their Portuguese egg tarts, they are simply delicious!! I will usually not leave the shop without buying any goodies… trust that I will do that lor…

Lunch was included in our day package for the Macau and I was really surprised that our luncheon was at Holiday Inn Hotel. Mmmh… the food was not too bad but not very tasty as well. The spread wasn’t big but at least they have salads, main course, soup, porridge, fruits and cakes. Quite reasonable la… My father-in-law’s friend Mr. Soh who works in MGM came over to meet us during our lunch and it felt good to see familiar face in a foreign land.

We visited the popular attraction like Ruins of St. Paul, Church of St. Dominic at the Senado Square. This is one very popular area for photo taking as the buildings are more than 100 years old.

Everyone who visits Macau will not miss the chance to check out the casinos. By the majority votes, we decided to visit The Venetian; one of the newest casino around. It took us about 10 minutes ride from the heart of Macau to The Venetian.

This would be my second visit to The Venetian and I still find it very attractive and extremely beautiful. The décor and the concept were beautiful. I particularly liked the St. Mark’s Square on the 3rd floor where they created the ‘sky’ ceiling which made the mall so romantic. There were also street performers and some looked really cute.

Guess given a chance, I will not visit Macau again coz’ I have almost covered it. mmmh… unless there is other new attractions…
