Day 4 In Beijing

Today, we continued our journey to visit Beijing Temple of Heaven. This was built in the 15th century reflect ancient Chinese religious beliefs of heaven as round and earth as square.

When arrived at the entrance, I realized that there were a huge crowd of people and most of them are old people. As we walked through this beautiful garden, we could see different groups of old people gathered together playing games, dancing, playing badminton and some even performed singing. Heard from the tour guide this is one of the most popular hangout for the old.

Then in the middle of the garden, there was a tower which said that in the olden days, the emperor came here to pay respect to his Father and his ancestors. It was interesting and we were showed some of the left over ancient stuff in the small museum nearby.

After that, we proceed to visit the Zheng Yang Men city wall which is known as the Dragon Head in China. There is nothing special about that city wall but it was the history that made it interesting and historical.

It about time for us to shop and move around on our own… we stopped by at the Wang Fu Jing Street where it’s almost like our very own Orchard Road. The difference is… Wang Fu Jing Street is one huge street where all the branded stuff is found and no cars are allowed. There are lots of people and mostly youngsters.

We came across this little street named the Wang Fu Jing Xiao Chi Street. In fact, I was lured by the ‘bing tang hu lu’ and was stuck in that street. We found many snacks like sweet corn, BBQ squid, meat ball soup, yakitori and many more… as usual, I will never leave the place without trying anything…. I simply love the strawberry bing tang… it was awesome…

After snacking… we hopped onto a trishaw ride visiting Hu Tong. This place is full of pubs and the place was so beautiful that I don’t mind getting drunk there….haaaaa.. juz kiddin’!

Our last stop for the day would be visiting another palace garden… the place was not as big as the summer palace but it has similar concept.

We finally had Peking Duck for dinner! I heard so much about it and I finally tried it… to be honest, nothing fantastic about it, in fact, I would very much prefer the ones in Singapore. The skin wasn’t crispy enough and not as tasty as those we had here…anyway, it was worth the try afterall…
