Dinner Gathering

It’s our dear pal Linda’s birthday and Jessie kindly booked ‘Open House’ at Park Hotel Orchard. This is totally new to all of us and since they are having promotion, we decided to give it a try.

When we arrived, Linda was nowhere in sight so, we waited for her at the hotel lobby where they had a small cozy area to keep the guest occupied with the MTV. It was quite a nice area to sit and wait …

Open House is a pretty small restaurant compared to the Crown Prince Café in the past. They served buffet but we noticed that there were only 5 stations for food. We went to check it out and I was totally disappointed that they do not serve sashimi for dinner, only sushi and some other salads.

Then next to it was the pizza counter where you can order or make your own pizza … (okay, the whole restaurant is like a mini Marche. There were Chinese station where you can order laska, mee siam or dim sums; clay pot station where they served claypot rice, clay pot as am fish… for me, I thought the meat & pizza stations were the best.

The roast pork, char siew, roast duck and chicken were not too bad. For pizza, we ordered 2 different types; teriyaki & Hawaiian. I preferred the teriyaki as it was something new to me. For desserts, it was really a sad area!! There weren’t enough cakes to begin with, fruits choices were limited and there were only 3 flavors for ice-creams… Sighz…. Totally sad!

I guess I will never visit this Open House anymore for its terrible spread. How can a buffet dinner without sashimi and cool dessert spread!! This place is a total THUMPS DOWN!
