Happy 2008!

We have experienced the New Year countdown in Melbourne, Brisbane and it’s time for us to celebrate with the Hong-kees…

It was New Year’s Eve in Hong Kong and it was crowded everywhere. Everyone was trying to get their last minute marketing and shopping for new clothes. There were loads of people on the streets of Causeway Bay and we could hard walk through those super markets.

After a simple but delicious meal at Central, we went down to Lan Kwai Fong to feel the New Year’s Eve spirit and indeed, it was great. Everyone was excited to welcome 2008 and at about 9:30pm, the street was filled with people and police of course. Most of them were in costumes and party hats walking on the streets and greeting one another.

At about 11pm, we left Lan Kwai Fong for IFC Building where we heard from the media and hotel staff that the fireworks will be there. We walked through the cold weather of 8 degree with those chilling winds which were not friendly at all… finally, we reached our destination and found a great place to settle down and wait for the fireworks.

At the struck of 12 mid-night, fireworks lighted up the whole building and it was amazing how they plant those fireworks outside the windows of that building. The fireworks were short but were fantastic. The crowd went crazy when it started and everyone wished us ‘Happy New Year’ in Cantonese which was something very new… for a moment; I thought we were celebrating Chinese New Year!! Hahahahaha

Wishing everyone a great Year 2008 ahead.
