Agnes’s Birthday Lunch At Bali Thai

Today, we were invited to Agnes’s birthday lunch at Bali Thai Suntec. Linda & I left the office earlier to Bali Thai Suntec to order the food so that food can be served on time.

Before the birthday girl arrived at the restaurant, we informed the restaurant manager to serve our food. When everyone settled down and busy talking to one another, we forgot that our food weren’t served after ½ hour. We immediately reminded the manager again and our 1st dish was served after another 10 minutes.

Half way through our meals, we realized that one dish (Thai Green Curry) was not served yet. We checked with the manager again and he told us that the curry is not ready yet (haven’t cooked yet!). We were pretty furious when we heard that! We decided to skip the curry though it was in our set. My goodness… how can the curry not cooked yet during the busy lunch time?
The Missing Dish (Thai Green Curry!)

The manager came over to apologize and told us that he will honor us with a 10% discount (BIG DEAL!) and we told him to have our dessert served immediately as the whole lunch was taking up too much of our lunch hour.

After 15 minutes, our desserts were nowhere to be seen on the table even after a couple of reminders. Finally, the desserts came and it was Mango pudding served with strawberries, kiwi & dragon fruit.

Sighz… now the bill, we waited for 20 minutes for our bill to reach us after several reminders again and this is not even the ultimate! I really give up on the whole restaurant man… when the bill finally came, I told the manager (Mr. Aw Yeung) that the service was very bad and slow. He replied ‘I am so sorry. We have a couple of new staff and they are foreigners, it’s hard to teach them and moreover, no locals are willing to work this line. In fact, I recently terminated one staff’. I was pissed off by what he told us as that was simply none of our freaking business. All I said was the horrible service and we were cheated of the curry!

I simply find this manager not professional at all and the whole restaurant sucked big time! The only consolation was the food tasted pretty food. Other than that, there is nothing interesting or good about the whole place.

That’s about it for Bali Thai! I’ve had it. I will never ever step into this restaurant, which I remind you it won the Tatler Singapore Best Restaurant in 2002. The mediocre-tasting food, the high prices, the bad service and the bloody insincere face of the manager there… it’s just not worth a third visit!

Friends, if you think it’s a good place to dine, then you have to be prepared to WAIT for your food, desserts and bill. Make sure you have amber time to spare before entering this restaurant!
