My Birthday Part II

When hubby picked me up in the evening, I had no idea where we were heading to for dinner as he wanted to give me a surprise. As he drove, I could roughly guess the venue but was not too sure until we were nearer.

Yes, we arrived at Dempsey Road and I already knew which restaurant… he was pretty surprised when I asked him… anyway, I was right about the venue! Dempsey Road’s direction is really messy but parking else was alright… (Maybe it was mid-week).

La Forketta, an Italian restaurant which we planned to try but couldn’t find a chance. I was really impressed by the cool interior décor and not forgetting the romantic outdoor dining. When I was browsing through the menu after ordering two glasses of house wine, I thought the menu looked good but man, it was pretty costly. (sighz… its FINE Dinning!)

After browsing through for a good 10 minutes, we finally decided to order a Parma Ham with rock melon and calamari for starters to share. Hubby ordered his favorite Carbonara and I had Spaghetti with clams cooked with white wine. While waiting for our food to be served, we enjoyed the bread basket (yes, you have to pay for it).

It didn’t take long for them to serve our Parma Ham with rock melon. This is one of my favorite starters apart from calamari. The Parma Ham is heavenly delicious and it was definitely a great combination with the sweet rock melons. I thought the calamari was way too costly ($35) and the taste was just normal.

I enjoyed my main dish very much – Spaghetti with clams cooked with white wine. It was really good and worth the $25 whereas hubby’s Carbonara wasn’t that fantastic. The taste was good but it was only served with countable chopped thick bacons!!

I was surprised when the ‘dessert’ was served with a little candle… Yes, hubby ordered a small slice of blueberry cheesecake to act as my birthday cake. So sweet!!! He then softly sang me a birthday song, I made the wish and we shared the pretty delicious cheesecake.

After settling down at home, I decided to open up my gifts from friends and family members. It was one of those ‘childlike’ moments… hahhahaahahaha…..

Thank you baby for the wonderful evening… I enjoyed thoroughly. Love you.

My Birthday Part I

I woke up early this morning feeling fresh though noticing the ‘numbers’ are getting bigger; but I am feeling YOUNG. While getting ready for work, mum came greeting me “Happy Birthday Girl” and gave an Ang Pao… mmmh… I felt all YOUNG again. Before setting off, I took my time to have one of the two Red ‘colored’ eggs which mum prepared for me (it’s a tradition la).

When I arrived at work, my close colleagues came giving me hugs and warm greetings/wishes. The sms from friends today were the highest in history and I really felt so warmed & loved by so many friends. I was called to the reception at the quarter of the morning and was surprised to receive a cake from Mandarin Oriental Hotel. I was really speechless as I wasn’t expecting that at all.

I thought it would be nice to give my close buddies at work a treat and we decided to lunch instead. Linda & my darling Angie went out to get us lunch and man… it was a small feast and birthday celebration at our very own dining room. Though no posh restaurant or fine dining but it was absolutely enjoyable.

Happy moments passed really fast and I received another call from the reception in the mid-afternoon. For a moment, I thought it was the Conrad room service people who came to pack up as I had a few guest from Japan having meeting in our office. I was really surprised to see the Sales Manager and the Director of Sales from Conrad instead. They came with a cake and a bouquet of beautiful flowers. Though I wasn’t the type who loves flowers but that bouquet was really stunning!

I was rather shy to bring the flowers to dinner but thanks to Ah K who provided me a big paper bag to hide my cake at least…

Thank you pals for the wonderful moments, the wishes and the gifts. Cheers!

Pre-BD Dinner

Though I am getting YOUNGER and somehow dinner with friends will make the birthday meaningful. Taking this opportunity, I arranged a dinner with my closest buddies (more like family) to dine at Oscar’s.

When we arrived, we were seated at the corner nearest to the buffet but we requested to change to another corner with a bigger space… hahahah… Edward kindly arranged to move us to another private corner. I felt warmly welcomed by my friends in Conrad when they came by before our dinner.

Our feast started with lots of seafood (Hairon ate like she had the whole Kelong!) and we enjoyed the parma ham and as well as the salad. Though the mains were attractive but we were still enjoying the salads and the sushi at the same time… Yepz… very greedy and confused! Hahahaha. I was also surprised that Conrad arranged a small birthday cake for me and it was great as I could share that with my friends.

Half way through desserts, Vivian and I distributed their Valentine gift… they were surprised and very happy to receive our school tee-shirts as a valentine gift… hahahaahah it certainly brought back loads of memories and we started talking about it… especially the one … ‘Eternal FRAME’!!!!!

Though time spent with friends were short but it was wonderful indeed. Thank you pals for your company and I had a great time. Cheers!

Bon Voyage…

Susan has been waiting for this day for the longest time and for the past few weeks, counting down…

I totally walked all three airport halls today! Earlier today, I was at Terminal 2 & Terminal 3 for site inspection and lunch. I was at Terminal 1 this evening to send off a dear friend of mime, Susan. She is my childhood friend and went to the same school.

When I arrived at the airport, she had already checked herself in and was relaxing at the coffee house with her parents. She was really in high spirit and all set to go. Was pretty worried for her as she was flying to Brisbane where the bush-fire is… anyway, she had to go coz’ her school term will start soon.

I am very happy for her that she could further her studies but I know I will definitely miss her dearly though we don’t meet up often while she is here. I know that she will take good care of herself as she is one super independent girl!

Buddy, please take good care of yourself and drink more water okie. I am very sure HE will be watching over you.
