Mother’s Day Celebration

May is a month of LOVE and yes, it’s also the month for Mothers! We celebrated Mother’s Day at Beng Thin Hoon Kee.

It was already crowded when we arrived at the restaurant and since there were two dinner slots, we told the waitress to have our food served as we have to end dinner before 8pm for the next crowd.

Our dishes came really shortly and though it was mass production but the taste was simply delicious. You might notice that I forgot to take pictures on the first few dishes, that’s because I was enjoying them…

The roast chicken is the family’s favorite and it was really good. Mums enjoyed the fish dish as it was tasty and fresh. Hubby loved the fried egg with lettuce the most; I have to comment that it was good too but it would be prefect with more crab meat…

While waiting for our desserts to be served, we took time out to take family pictures and rest for a moment… hahahaaha… Our last dish was almond jelly which was simple but refreshing.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Post Secretary Luncheon

Secretary’s week falls on the last week of April every year. Minowa-san, our boss who has been travelling on business trips was away during that week. Finally today, we were invited to lunch for this post celebration.

We included Rie today as he promised to bring her to have Peranakan cuisine. We went to Ivin’s at Upper Thomson Road. This is one place where I enjoyed their beef rendang. It’s delicious man!

We ordered curry fish head (extra spicy), sambal lady’s fingers, otah, fish maw soup, claypot mixed vegetables, beef rendang, ayam gorgeng and sambal sotong. So YUMMY!

Our food was served shortly as it wasn’t crowded. We simply enjoyed the curry fish head but it wasn’t spicy enough though we requested it to be cooked extra spicy! As for me, my favorite would be the beef rendang, it was SUPER YUMMY! The rest of the food was great too…*drool*

Mmh… will definitely be back for dinner with hubby again.

Port Dickson – Day 3

Time flies and our short get-away is almost over… On our way to breakfast, we saw the pool security again; The Peacock! It seemed to station there all the time regardless quiet or crowded. Guessed it’s an extremely friendly peacock… this time, it posed for me… I felt really lucky that it actually opened up its feathers while it posed! Really cool stuff…

After breakfast this morning, I finally picked up the courage to enter the ‘Pet Farm’ situated in the hotel garden where guest are allowed to feed the pets… There were chickens, peons, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises etc… I couldn’t resist the fat fluffy rabbit and I fed it with cucumber. It was really cute. I managed to carry one of them which was quite heavy… hahaha… so cute.

Since we don’t have much time to do anything, we walked around the resort and took some great pictures and at the same time, you can check out my TAN!

This is one resort that we will visit again as it was really relaxing and quiet. Loved it!

Port Dickson - Day 2

Woke up this morning feeling really fresh and the smell of the dawn was simply great! We went to have our breakfast at the poolside and though the spread wasn’t as fantastic as those we had at Oscar’s but the quality of the food were good.

The sun was rather weak today after a heavy shower last night. We went to the beach to relax and hoping that the sun will be better. The beach was really beautiful and quiet where I was able to relax and read a book…. Hhahahah… I didn’t have a book with me but suntan lotion and my MP3…

Anyway, the sun came out pretty late and though it was a short 2 hours of sunshine, we were quite FRIED!

Short Weekend Get-Away

It was a long weekend and we thought it would be nice to have a short get-away to somewhere nearby… Finally, we decided on heading down to Port Dickson which is about 238 km away from Singapore.

We got up early on Friday morning and set off around 7:20am. We drove to Woodlands causeway which was nearer from our place and man… it was already filled with cars! However, it didn’t take us too long to clear the custom… well done Malaysia!

It took us about 3 hours plus to drive before arriving at Port Dickson. After checking ourselves in at Avillion Water Chalet, we took our lunch at the pool side while waiting for our room to be ready. It didn’t take us long to decide our lunch as both were eyeing on their Nasi Gorgeng… It didn’t go wrong at all as it was delicious.

Our room was just above the sea and was cozy. It has a four-poster King sized bed and a pangkin daybed. As ours was the water chalet, we had a partial sea view balcony. What I loved about the room was the bathroom… it was an open shower concept where you can shower underneath the clear blue sky or stars in the night.

We walked around the resort and finally took our rest at the adult pool. While I was relaxing myself at a corner, I could feel that someone was watching… the moment I opened my eyes, indeed, there was a pair of EYES looking right at me! I let out a loud scream as it was no human but a huge peacock! My goodness… I was shocked by a BIRD! When I screamed, the peacock behaved as if it was normal and it walked round my beach bench and POSED! Then it moved off to the nearby benches where some guest started taking picture of it and it POSED again! This peacock certainly ruined my beauty rest in the late afternoon and we decided to check out Port Dickson town.

Seaview Restaurant was one of the popular seafood restaurants in Port Dickson. We were given one of the best seats in the house where we could view the beautiful sunset while dining. The restaurant was really crowded; mostly tourists.

We ordered fried salted egg prawns, fish maw with mushrooms, baby kai lan with garlic and their house special noodles. I have to say that the food were delicious and extremely valued for money. If we were to have the same dishes in SIN, it probably cost us about $60 in total excluding beer but the bill over there came up to SD40 including three drinks and one beer. Fantastic deal!!

We had an early night after a long day of driving and a wonderful dinner; of course… I have to recover from the shock I got at the poolside…
