SG50 National Day 2015 - The Golden Jubilee

This is one special year for our country as we celebrate 50th Years of Independence. I am very sure that all Singaporean are feeling emotional as we celebrate this event. This would be the first year that the country is celebrating this happy occasion without our founding Father LKY and we all wished that he could join us…

As we arrived at Marina Barrage this early evening, the field deck is already fully taken and there were many families placed their mats near the walk way just to be able to catch a glimpse of the air show and fireworks.

We decided to take our place on the ground level in front of the big screen as we planned to head out to view the fireworks later. This would be the first time that our family gathered together to watch the parade together in an open area. We brought with us mats, drinks, food and snacks to keep us full and hydrated. We brought some games for the kiddos to keep them tame and busy too.
To our surprise, we did not need to bring out the toys we brought as there was a sort of carnival going on at the event venue. There were stalls selling food, drinks, gadgets, snacks and even some small scale rides and games for the kids.

As for our little Emma, she was very much entertained by the little pink ball that Maggie brought along for her daughter but ended up in little Emi’s hand. I was really happy that she sat quietly and played with the little pink ball for more than 2 hours while we watched the parade.
The atmosphere was really fantastic especially when our national flag flew pass and everyone got up on their feet to sing the National Anthem together. I really felt so united and for once… so Singaporean!!! Right after the Anthem, the air show began with a bang… I was filled with awe when I saw the wonderful performance by the ‘Dark Knights’. Totally thumps up indeed!
When the parade is almost coming to an end, we packed up and left for a place where we could have a better view of the fireworks. As we walked towards our cars, we found an open space where the view was pretty good and best of all, it wasn’t crowded!
Enjoying the beautifully display of the fireworks with my family was priceless! Happy Birthday Singapore!
