Dinner Gathering With Friends

It’s almost the last day of CNY and we planned to have a dinner gathering at East Ocean Restaurant located at Shaw House.

In fact, our main purpose to dine at this restaurant was to taste their ‘peng cai’… something I have not tried before but heard so much about it. Linda was the one who recommended us to dine at East Ocean.

Our set dinner started with the steam prawns and I was really thankful that I got back my liking towards prawns as they were fresh and yummy. Next, it was the thick seafood soup which looked like mango pudding at first sight but tasted good man…. though it wasn’t shark’s fins soup, somehow I like it… Save the SHARKS!!!

The next dish is my all time favorite… bamboo clams with garlic! Aiyo… this bamboo clams was super delicious and I would love to have 10 servings of that!!!! Okay, 10 were way too much… I had one and the half serving after all as we had extra!!!

This was quite an interesting dish where the whole fish was cooked in two different styles. For the meat, they steam and stir fried it with broccoli and the fish head was deep fried. I am never a fan for fish but I tried and man, it was GOOD! It was supposed to be a vegetable dish next and when it was served, we were surprised that it was soupy rather than stir fried. The vegetable was cooked with fish maw in a soup base and I thought it was not too bad.

While waiting for our main Dish (peng cai) to be served, friends were exchanging ideas about what they can do with their i-phones… I would really want to get one myself but my contract is still not up yet!!! Arrrraaagggghhhhh……

Our wait was over, the ‘Peng Cai’ was finally served and we were really excited about it…. while waiting for it to be warmed up… we took a peek on how it looked! When we opened the cover of the claypot, most of us drooled!!!! There were scallops, abalone, mushrooms, dried oysters, roasted meat, ‘duck feet’ etc…

I was really impressed by the sauce…it was really awesome! I managed to find lotus, fish maw, mushroom, scallops, black moss & roasted meat… the sauce was the most delicious part of the whole dish and I simply enjoyed it with my bowl of rice!

After a very satisfying meal, fresh fruits were served as dessert. Additionally, the restaurant captain gave us with their delicious ‘nien gau’ as compliments as Linda knows her very well…

I had a wonderful evening with my friends and let’s do it again!!
