CNY Short Trip To Bintan

Hubby and I took additional three days leave for CNY. We planned our trip to Bintan for to relax before I enter my final journey (final trimester).

We set off on 17th Feb (fourth day of CNY) since most of the visiting had been done. When we arrived at Bintan Lagoon, we were not surprised to see many Singaporeans there. Bet some of them were avoiding CNY.

I was really thankful that our room was ready when we checked ourselves in and was given a nice room with a wonderful view. We took the Sea-Facing Deluxe room which was refurnished recently. Indeed, it was new and spacious. I simply loved the balcony as it was sea-facing with golf course view. Fantastic!

Many of you would have guessed that I will be ‘burned’ when I get back….

CNY Family Reunion Dinner

Before welcoming the year of Tiger, we went to Aunty Susan’s place for our family reunion dinner. It is our tradition to have family reunion dinner at her place yearly but this year, we have a new addition in our family. We have cousin’s baby Zoe joining us.

We started to prepare all the dishes for steamboat and aunty got the ‘Yu Sheng’ ready for us. All set and we started to toss the Yu Sheng before tucking into the steamboat…. All were well wishes as we tossed the raw fish.

My cousins then started the soup boiling for the steamboat so that we can have the food when we are done with our raw fish… there were so many dishes on the table (as usual) and I guess the most popular dish of all would be the CP dumplings! It was all snapped up shortly!!

After dinner, we had our usual family picture and went our separate ways till we meet again tomorrow for actual Chinese New Year!

Gong Xi Fa Cai everyone!! Wishing one and all good health and good Wealth!!

Birthday Celebration

Happy Birthday to myself! Hahaahahaha…. Anyway, had lunch with my colleagues at Swensen’s and it was simply a blast though it was a short gathering during our miserable 1 hour!

In the night, hubby brought me to one of my recommended restaurant Pietrasanta located at Portsdown Road. This restaurant is owned by Loris who is cousin-in-law of my bestest buddy Theresa.

We were given a very cozy corner away from the bigger crowd in the restaurant. We ordered our favorite mixed seafood as our starters and sparkling water since wine is out of the question for me now…

As for our main course, hubby had spaghetti with seafood and Italian risotto with pumpkin, parmesan cheese & amaretti biscuit… it was awesome! It was hubby’s 1st visit and he was simply impressed. I am sure we will be back again since he is kind of ‘in love’ with the seafood spaghetti.

After our ice-creams for desserts, we head home for the cake-cutting ceremony! Conrad kindly gave me a cake during my visit to Oscar’s on Tuesday and thought it would be nice to have the cake-cutting at home together with mummy.

Birthday is basically the beginning of my 365 days in 2010 and I bet I will be enjoying the ride with the arrival of our little one soon…

Department CNY Reunion Dinner

Last year, we had our department reunion dinner at OCBC Center and this year, we arranged it at Si Chuan Dou Hua located at 61st Floor of UOB Building.

When we arrived, we were led to our table by the window where the view from the top was simply breathtaking! This is my second visit to this restaurant and I thought the food was pretty good and giving the beautiful view, it was worth visiting again.

Our starter Yu Sheng was served shortly and the waitress was preparing it for us and spoke some very auspicious phrases which were common. Immediately after she left our table, we stood up and started tossing! It was great and really fun!

The shark’s fin soup with crab roe was simply delicious and I wished I could have a second serving… hehehheeheh…. Then our Sichuan style prawns were served… it was delicious too… LOVE IT!

Well, I didn’t enjoy the steam fish in Teocheow style as I am no fan of FISH! Moreover, I am pregnant and the smell of steam fish made me sick! Roasted chicken, and e-fu noodles tasted normal… wasn’t very POWER la…

After they served our roasted chicken and noodles, we noticed that one dish was missing… that was one of the expensive Abalone with mushroom & black moss. We then informed that one of our dishes was missing and finally they served after waiting for awhile.

Their dessert was their house special Dou Hua (Bean curd). I didn’t really enjoy it as it was kind of weird with some wild flowers in it… overall, it was not too bad but I guess I would preferred to order a-la-carte the next time I visit….
