Birthday Celebration For January Babes

Beginning of a brand New Year and we are already ‘bleeding’… There are 4 babies in the month of January and giving gifts or ang pow can be quite painful!! Hahahaahahah

In return, the babes gave us a treat at Beng Hiang located at Amoy Street. We booked the place and menu was chosen by our ‘Food Director’, Ah Leng of course… Jessie, Rie & myself left office together and planned to get them a birthday cake and as well as some wine to go along with the dinner.

Once everyone arrived, food was served promptly. The cold dishes were served and it was one of our favorites… then my favorite soup – Fish Maw soup was served next. I have always enjoyed the fish maw soup here and would say that it’s my family member’s favorite too.

Leng as usual, she ordered an extra dish (sweet & sour pork) which is her all time favorite and it was all ‘cleaned up’ too. Next were the steam fish and ngor hiang which was delicious!!! The crispy chicken, the mushroom with vegetables, hokkien mee and mayo prawns were fantastic too. I would say… it’s a great set menu that we have ordered.

Last but not least, we totally drowned ourselves with the delicious yam paste! Aiyo… after dinner, we were struggling with the birthday cake though it was served a tiny piece each. We totally went crazy at the end of the dinner and as usual, we did silly poses… hahahaahah…

Anyway, thanks Agnes, Kat & Koko for the delicious dinner!

Cheers!

Faith’s Baptism

I dreamt about having a baby and having the child to be baptized in church will be the greatest thing. Finally, it happened today.

We have been waiting for Faith’s God-ma to return from Aussie and yes, she is back at last. We then signed Faith up for baptism in January and guess what, it happened to be the same occasion as the ‘Baptism of the Lord’.

We arrived at Divine Mercy Church early that morning for preparation and a simple oil anointing ceremony at the chapel. We were really excited about the baptism rites and the marching in together with the priest.

Seats were already assigned to the baby’s family members and we were seated at the 2nd row from the altar which was one of my favorite seats during mass. Baptism at the Divine Mercy is very different from the rest as baptism is included in the Sunday mass where the whole congregation welcomes the baby to the Catholic Faith.

Father Johnson who gave the homily today took a small bottle which contained water from the Jordan River and he poured it into the baptism pool so that the babies who will be baptized today will be sharing the same joy as our Lord Jesus who baptized in the Jordan River.

During the homily, we prepared her by taking out her clothes and wrapped her under the thick towel. We walked up to the baptism pool when we were called up. Father Ignatius asked us what we named our child and I replied ‘Faith Tabitha’ and he then baptized her in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That was one beautiful moment.

Faith was shocked when she opened her eyes and found herself in the arms of Father Ignatius and started crying… she continued her cries when we were at the back of the altar changing her into her white dress.

Then we were asked to stand at the side of the altar while we waited for Susan, her God-ma to receive the ‘light’ from the Easter Candle. After mass, we were requested to stay for photo-taking sessions and it was fantastic.

Thank you family and friends who have joined us for this wonderful occasion. We would like to thank Susan for accepting Faith as your God-daughter. God bless you always.

Happy New Year

It’s a brand new year and what a perfect way to start the year with small family gathering. We were invited to my cousin’s place on the first day of 2011.

We arrived at their place for lunch and it was potluck style. Cousin Florence prepared pasta, mushroom soup and roasted chicken. I brought my Caesar Salad, sandwiches and cream puffs while Cousin Bick Guan brought desserts and Cousin Lai Kuan made drinks.

I enjoyed the time spending at the dining table where the family members to share a meal done by the young ones. The elders sat back and had a good time. The two little ones played together for a while though they are about one year apart.

After the delicious meal, we sat down at the living room for desserts and coffee which was really relaxing.

Our after family bonding session, we headed home to rest after doing some marketing at our nearby supermarket.

I thoroughly enjoyed such simple yet fun gatherings at my cousin’s place.

Happy New Year everyone and wishing you a very blessed 2011!
