Durian Party

It was a long waited party and we are honored to be invited to Minowa-san’s place for this party. Minowa-san kindly prepared dinner where both Rie & I went to collect them at Ivin’s before heading to his place.



It was our first time visiting a boss’ place and was impressed with the tidiness of his place despite his wife’s absence (she is currently in Japan). I was also surprised to find his apartment pretty big for a condo which located in Sixth Avenue!

Everyone enjoyed the peranakan dinner and the food was good enough to feed all. Thank God! The popular dish of the night would be the curry fish head and the fried chicken. It was all snapped out and mmmh… the not so popular dish would be the veggies… hahaahaah…









Anyway, as mentioned in the title of this article, it was supposed to be Durian party. Yes, Kaiye Steven bought the best durian in town… we had two different types of durians; ‘Mao Shan Wang’ and ‘D24’. We began with the ‘Mao Shan Wang’ and I simply LOVEEEEEEEEED it! It was creamy, tasty and sweet. SUPER YUMMY! I would say… Finger licking GOOOOOOOOOOOD! As for the D24, it wasn’t my type of durian as it was slightly bitter though creamy.





It was indeed an enjoyable evening at Minowa-san’s place and let’s go forward to another durian party soon…

Painted ‘War’ Game

The day when I mentioned ‘Paintball’ to Kelvin, he was interested on getting on the game immediately and thanks to him, we finally made it happen!

This morning when I woke up, I was feeling excited about the game and can’t wait for it to begin! Right after work, we dashed straight to Red Dynasty which was located at Bottle Tree; somewhere in Yishun.

When we arrived, we were given briefing on the game as well as the safety measures. We were all excited to begin but there were lots of stuff to know about the game before we get into it. The fifteen minutes was a drag but it was worth listening.



Before heading to the ‘War’ field, we were divided into 2 colors groups. My team-mates were Jessica, Kelvin, Sheena & her boyfriend. The rival team was Philip, Linda, Florence, Julia & her hubby. Finally, we were given the ‘gun’ where 50 paintballs were loaded… muuaaaaahhhhhaa…

There were marshals along the side of the field and after some instructions, the War began! It was very immediate that everyone started shooting at each other once the marshals gave us the signal to begin. I started to hide myself behind some woods and started shooting at the other side where the rivals were.

Kelvin, my team-mate was in-charged of getting both the brick and the flag to home and he suffered a few shots during the attempt. I was trying to cover him by shooting at our rivals and man… I was in fact at a very safe place and I managed to shoot Julia at the side and suddenly I heard a loud cried ‘OUCH!!!’ it was more like a ‘ROAR’ than a shout out. For that moment, I realized that I shot her!

I continued to be in that good position until I was spotted by one of their members (ah Leng) and man, she started shooting right at my area and almost hit me! Sheena’s boyfriend was the casualty instead. I noticed a butt from the side of the wooden stand but that butt hid faster than my paintballs! Ah Leng… your butt damn lucky to escape the shot lor!





Philip’s team won the first half and we managed to kill the game on the second half. It was really fun but man… it was tiring! We had loads of fun though most kanna the shot and some suffered bruises from head to leg… Fortunately, Linda & I survived without a single shot. What a great workout!

Will be looking forward to the next game…. muaadhhhaaaahhahhaah

Post Birthday Lunch

We celebrated Minowa-san’s birthday last month and as he was tied up with visitors and other business engagements, we were invited to lunch today.

He brought to try out the new Japanese restaurant at Orchard Central. We were told that there is a same one in Japan and he mentioned that the food is good. Ootoya, newly opened in Orchard Central and in fact, it’s our first time stepping on the new building’s ground.


The building lobby is beautifully decorated but the design is rather strange as you can’t seem to see the shops unless you take the lift to their designated floors. The lift is cool and most of the restaurants and shop has a great view.

We arrived at Ootoya on the seventh floor and man… it was crowded! We checked out the nicely printed menu and there were a great variety of food to choose from. The pictures really looked appetizing and what is great about it was amount of calories were indicated. There were quite a few foods I would like to try on this small stomach of mine… in another words… I am just being greedy! Haahahahahahaha



Finally, I ordered the grilled chicken; Ah K had the grilled pork, Linda had grilled fish and Minowa-san had pork with egg. They served majority set meals and they are reasonable and healthy!





Our food didn’t take long to be served and yes, it’s very yummy! The salad boss ordered was really good, the Japanese salad sauce they used… YUMMY! My chicken set was really good and so is their seaweed rice… (by the way, there were three types of rice you can choose from and they are free flow) that really cool eh…

The dessert was great too though there were a few weren’t available. We settled with green tea ice-cream with soya milk. The combination wasn’t that bad.

Mmmh… I will definitely be back to try other dishes… *winks*

Goodbye Bintan…

Times passes so fast when you are having so much fun!! We will be returning home today! After our usual breakfast, we took a walk to the reception and told them to allow us to check out around 12:30pm as our ferry was 2:15pm.



We had about a couple of hours to spare and so, we went to the beach once again and this time round, it was high-tide. I did not manage to swim far as I was afraid… I was only hanging around the shoreline to enjoy the waves and the sun!

Haven’t surf the net for 2 days and went online for a half hour while waiting for our transfers to arrive. The ferry terminal is about 10 minutes or less from the resort and we arrived about 45 minutes before our departure.


There wasn’t a big DFS shopping area at the terminal and it was extremely crowded. I noticed that it started to drizzle and I was really worried as I am sure I will get seasick once the sea gets rough! Yes, true enough… about 15 minutes to arrival at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, I was feeling giddy and I actually felt like vomiting… but I held back and endured till I got down. I felt awful and I kept it down by having chips and water… mmh… somehow it worked.

I enjoyed this trip very much despite the stupid seasick… mmh… we’ll be back to Bintan again but probably not Angsana Resort.

Angsana Continues…

Rise & Shine! Woke up with a great weather! It was sunny and we were excited coz’ it will be one great day to hang out at the beach.

Breakfast at Lotus Café was good but not great though it was American breakfast and with some local delights. For me, I enjoyed the pork bacon, omelet and the bread selections. Right after breakfast, we headed down to the beach and man, we found ourselves a quiet corner to chill and sun bathe…

Know something… I finally swam at the sea! Yes, the sea water was really clear and with hubby’s company, I managed to be in the sea till chest level… I found swimming in the sea better than the pool (mainly because I could see the seabed and the water was clean)…. For once, I was swimming with some small fishes and I could see them with my goggles on. It was one great feeling and experience.





Before heading to dinner, we went for our so expensive massage at the Angsana Spa. As mentioned before, everything is priced in USD. The massage cost us USD 65 for 90 minutes and for your information, the treatment was only 60 minutes and the rest of the 30 minutes was inclusive of our arrival, taking shower, having tea and changing! I almost fainted when the masseur told us upon our arrival.

We were led to a couple-room; it was really nice and romantic. I got to say that the 60 minutes Fusion massage was really good. Fusion massage is Thai and Swedish massage combination and it worked very well together. We thoroughly enjoyed the massage though it was expensive.




After a great and relaxing massage, we went to Pantai Grill for dinner. They served seafood buffets on both Fridays & Saturdays at USD 34 per pax. It was indeed a romantic dinner where you are dining under the stars and on the smooth sandy beach. The food varieties were pretty good and we simply enjoyed the BBQ beef, pork ribs, prawns and seafood satays. The salad, soup and cooked food were great too though the desserts were somehow a disappointment.










Pantai Grill is definitely a better dinner place than Lotus Café… heheheeh…
