April Luncheon Outing

Some of you may ask… izzit another luncheon with boss? I am really happy to answer YES! This time, Minowa-san brought us to Japanese Restaurant at Gallery Hotel. He has been there a couple of times for dinner but guess it’s his virgin visit for lunch.

Taka, the name of the restaurant is well-known for this charcoal grill dishes and the chicken curry rice. Unfortunately, they do not serve charcoal grill items during lunch and we had set lunch instead. Minowa-san ordered garlic pork, Linda had wayu beef teriyaki and I tried their popular curry chicken rice. The set lunch includes salad, miso soup, chawa mushi, main course, coffee and dessert. It was pretty reasonable priced.


Minowa-san ordered the half boiled egg as our additional appetizer and man… it was delicious. It reminded me of the Japanese breakfast I took in Tokyo one morning. The tasty salad was served shortly… I seemed to enjoy Japanese style salad more these days… their salad sauce is just simply tasty!


Our main course didn’t take long to be served. We exchanged our food and I enjoyed all three different main courses. Mmmh… the garlic pork was tender and tasty, the beef soft and tender as well. My curry rice was great too as it wasn’t too ‘powder-ish’…

I simply enjoyed the taste of the chawa mushi as it was really different from the rest I had tired before. The taste was somewhat thicker and the ingredients were better… for example, the prawn was bigger, more mushroom and the chicken meat was tender too.

Linda and I ordered green tea ice-cream for our dessert and cheese cake for Minowa-san. I am one ice-cream lover coz’ that will never go wrong… heheheeh….


I will be back to Taka for dinner as they serve mini portion for curry rice and ohyaku-don!!!

Day 3 Of Secret Trip

Weather was cooling after a long night of heavy rain and we have planned to visit Yuen Long since it was new to us. Yuen Long is considered as New Territories and we had to take MTR, KTR and their LRT to get to the destination.

Yuen Long is a new place for both of us and we visited coz’ we heard so much about it through HKG drama serials… it is also famous for their wife-biscuit and the wanton noodles. When we arrived at the station, it was all quiet and we walked around the mall before heading to the LRT.





We took the light rail to the place we wanted to visit and we were surprised to find the town as crowded as Causeway Bay! We passed their local wet market which was really interesting. They sell everything from raw meat, vegetables, fruits to cake and tarts… really cool and very crowded.




As we walked, we looked out for both our noodle shop and the famous Hang Heung Cake Shop. I would love to bring back some wife biscuits for mum… With the help of the local police, we found the shop… and man, it was crowded… mostly locals. We tried out their egg tarts for the first time and it was extremely tasty… mmmh… better than Tai Chung… Ooopsss…


I noticed this shop as I strolled and found the name irritating…’好到底’ and I laughed at it and told hubby about it… he laughed and suddenly he said “that’s the place we are looking for” and I was like… ‘HUH?” yes, we had lunch at”好到底麵家”.

We ordered their famous wanton noodles and beef brisket. Aiyo… this would be the best wanton noodles man… the noodles were springy and the wanton were made with fresh prawns. The soup is the winner too… fantastic! The noodles did justice to the shop name!






Went to Lan Kwai Fong hoping to watch the Rugby game but somehow the place was really quiet and we decided to get back to hotel to chill before dinner....



Before heading for dinner, we went to Causeway Bay to do our last minute shopping and the atmosphere was simply great as we saw lots of Rugby fans dressing up like it was Halloween. We believed that the match ended awhile ago and that was the reason why we saw so many crazy fans moving around. We saw some fans dressing up like chamber maids, bar maids, chefs, hot bunny, colored faces, and the ultimate was the few uncles who dressed in cartoon towels and shower caps. It was hilarious…


We rapped up our dinner at a local café which served pretty good goose! Though it wasn’t a feast but it was simply enjoyable with simple dishes like Fu Yong Egg, stirred fried kailan with garlic and mixed roast meat. I have to end the meal with the delicious iced lemon tea.

Day 2 Of Our Secret Trip

Early this morning, we woke up fresh and ready to explore some parts of HKG which we have never visited. On our way to the MTR station, we noticed a Porsche road-show and we being car lovers went closer.

The cars were so beautiful and I couldn’t resist but to take a picture or two with it. I managed to try out the driver’s seat too and man… it was really cool! Simply awesome! I was totally taken away by the beautiful cars around us and I didn’t want to leave….



Anyway, went for some shopping and in fact, searching for my track shoes… the weather was really cooling and we visited Sham Shui Po as hubby would like to see Apliu Street Flea Market. The place sells mostly second-hand electronic stuff and a good place to get some antique watches, old coins and other relics. After shopping, it’s time to sit and have my favorite steam milk dessert… it’s simply heavenly!!!





We have never tried seafood in HKG though we visited so many times that we can apply for citizenship!!! Lei Yun Mun was one of the popular seafood paradises and yes, this time, we visited. Though it was drizzling but it didn’t stop our journey to having seafood in a foreign place!






We were taken aback when we arrived as there were so many restaurants and we were kind of lost… it was really interesting as we are allowed to choose our own seafood. We finally settled down at one of the restaurant after walking one full round.

We ordered steam prawns; stir fried kailan with garlic, clams with black bean sauce, fried butter crab and fried rice. Both of us thought the seafood was pretty fresh but the fried rice was the winner! Funny but somehow that was the best dish! Expensive you might ask and YES, it was expensive… therefore, you can avoid popular places like this one but it was really fun to play with that raw seafood….
